    Star Citizen is an open development, crowd funded project from Cloud Imperium. Consisting of 2 games, Squadron 42 a single player, story driven campaign putting you in the middle of the Vanduul attacks as an up and coming UEE Navy pilot, and Star Citizen, a highly detailed
    first person MMO set within a persistent universe where there are no limits. This includes, space, and ground aspects, massive spaceships with full interiors and interactions, a full dynamic economy which reacts to the players actions allowing for anything you can imagine.
    It is all being built on the StarEngine (a modified version of Amazon's Lumberyard Engine).
    Please bare in mind that this is heavily WIP and in an alpha state in which much of the foundational tech to make it a reality is still being developed. Both games do not have set release dates yet but you can play the alpha build for the PU MMO which makes consistent progress
    with quarterly patch releases throughout the year.

    I have played X Beyond the Frontier to X4 Foundations, and we had NPCs that handled tasks (Behaviours), like farming, factories, and Mining and they would sell and trade before heading back out piloting player ships and marines will protect and or fight this is within the last 20 years, so having NPCs as crew, current gunners and service in Star Citizen should be a given.

      But those games didn't deal with multi-player, so npcs have to be handled differently in Star Citizen. Definitely doable though.

      But Elite deals with multiplayer, and you'll be surprised how NPC settlements function in Odyssey. It's almost Skyrim in miniature. Procedurally generated industrial specialized settlements on thousands of planets. With several dozens of role separated NPC each. With local and interplanetary quests. With cycles of different economical and social states of the settlement.

    The United Empire of Earth Marines (UEEM) is the military branch of the United Empire of Earth that is only tasked with the most crucial missions, never for routine operations. Their ranks consists of selected soldiers out of the other branches and a direct application is not possible. Although the advanced technologies available to them, combined with their training, their charter gives them great freedom of action in the use of force, it is rare to witness Marine Operations in civilized space and when that is the case everyone in the area understands that it is a place to avoid at all costs.

    The United Empire of Earth Navy is the Navy branch of the United Empire of Earth military. It is the largest of the three branches and public face of the United Empire of Earth military.
    It is responsible for transportation of military resources, maintaining the borders and waging military strikes throughout the UEE. Service members of the Navy are deployed in nearly every system of the empire. In the early days of humanity’s expansion into space, the unified Navy primarily served as a police force, patrolling the systems for damaged or broken down ships. Upon the discovery of the Banu, the government realized that the Navy needed to be re-purposed as a military presence. The Navy’s fleet began to swell as it was the most obvious visual representation of humanity’s military strength.
    Fueled by the never-ending stream of stories and Vids of daring pilots, recruits flocked to the Navy’s stations to sign up. Even before the Draft of the First Tevarin War, the Navy’s enlistment numbers had barely dipped. During the Messer Era, the Navy, along with the rest of the UEE military, grew at an exponential rate; helping in the Imperator’s mad dash for planets and systems.
    Structurally, the UEE Navy is formed around Squadrons which are assigned a carrier and a fluctuating number of support ships. An Admiral is in charge of the carrier and squadron with Wing Commanders running the multiple Wings that operate at any given time.
    Recruits train in the shadows of the massive shipyards at the academies and boot camps on MacArthur in the Kilian system.[1]

    I could see taking on/off armor in S42 being cool (always loved the helmet animation we saw years ago too), but my kneejerk reaction is that it seems very tedious for Star Citizen since you're frequently looting armor from bodies and changing out things on the fly. Hoping to be convinced when we see it.

      Kinda immersion breaking if you can change out armor on the fly. Hmm I need electric damage resistance, boom instantly swapped to appropriate armor in the middle of a fight. Nah

      @@cerichson Which is why I say I need to see the implementation of it. If it brings gameplay to a screeching halt and is clunky/tedious, I really don't want it. I want maximum immersion all the way up until the point there's a noticeably negative impact on gameplay.

    I wonder if there will be aliens by the time 1.0 beta is introduced. Galactapedia is cool but if I don't have visuals in the game to reflect Galactapedia it won't be immersive.

      @QuotidianStupidity Yeah same here. I don't want to read about it. I want to experience it. I'll dabble from time to time and check it out but I have not played seriously for about 2 years now. Since like 3.17 I believe. I tried master modes, looking to try cargo changes and hangers... but seriously... there are too many completely fun games to play right now. I would play this game all day every day if it worked... but it's just too buggy in its infancy of 12 years. Some experiences are joyful but then a major bug causes you to waste an hour just to get back to playing the game. So I waited 12 years... I can wait a little longer.

      Vanduul probably since they are the only ones ever shown in engine so far. The SQ42 story systems are connected via Pyro and Nyx towards the border in Vega as part of 1.0.

      In 1000 years they would also rely on drones instead of fighter pilots. But it's a retrofuturistic scifi world inspired by 70s and 80s scifi, not a hard scifi world like the Expanse.

    I am mainly here for the PU, and don’t care much about SQ42. But nevertheless I really do hope SQ42 turns out to be a God tier game, because I really do think it will either shut the skeptics up, or prove everyone’s concerns right.

      even if SQ42 turns out ok it won't shut anyone up lol SQ42 is offline and we want PU. People are not concerned about content being added to the game, people are concerned about the servers not shitting themselves constantly lol which is starting to really get fucking annoying. And I can almost bet that when server meshing comes on, the game will go into an even worst state than before, and then I want to see what excuse they will use then.

      ​@@vashbain3136 its honestly at the point with the RL especially that they need to accept that they have plenty of data on server and networking problems, roll back the player counts and entity spawning to stable levels, and go from there. Its actually getting to the point to where its hurting playtesting because there is no known metric within the community to how things *should* be with good server stability

      @@Jewifer333x2 Yeah the core of the game is a complete mess to the point that npc's at space stations that only need to be there doing basically nothing, break and all stand in the same weird place stacking....like seriously they can't even make the npc's stand where they need. How can people still dig into all these lies? Like seriously lol When will the game be at least PLAYABLE. There's barely a time where I log in and I am able to play without having some weird bs happening to me. The other day my ship quantum drove into a godamn planet ffs how does that even happen. They keep adding ships and new pledges, features that dont work lol if you look at the core of most features it's just basic shit, salvage is just basically powerwash simulator, cargo missions is just going to a terminal press some buttons and drive ship to some station and repeat process, bunkers are just go in the same exact looking bunker as the last one and shoot brain dead npc's, mining is just point a laser at a rock...I could go on and on...there's nothing revolutionary as they say, NOTHING. All that was supposed to be revolutionary when they first announced the game, was more than 10 years ago, all that shit is already in other games now, even server meshing lmao they are bringing nothing new to the table.

      If you look at the additional components, they are taken from other ships. The one I remember right now is that the engines changed to Valkyrie Engines as an example

      Cutlass mrk II (maybe) they could keep this game funded for another ten years with mrk II variants of most ships. Plus selling habs at places like Orison, Area 18, New Babage and even Lorville. Or anything with player bases. Even just trinkets and other stuff to decorate said places.

      ... Mainly because then balancing is completely out the window. If you are able to basically build your own ship out of pre-defined parts it would be a different game than what the vision behind SC is not to mention the complex tech this would need making SC even harder to get anywhere near completion

      it was, he's just using it as a visual that refers to npc janitors since we don't have an image of those yet but there will be some sort npc cleanup service to remove a lot of player dropped junk so that you dont just see rubbish disappear.

      Considering the amount of work and detail they are putting into NPC's in SQ42, to make all them work as planned. Not sure how hard it would be to port them over to SC.
      I would like to know if they will run by the server or the client? If its server, might be a while to get them working.

    People need to stop hating on janitorial stuff. It is needed, and adds a ton of realism to the game, so damn sick of people acting like the only thing that makes the game great isnt important. Do people understand how they sound? Just finish the movie! Who cares about the cinematography, music, lighting, post production etc. Stop being blind. Also this IS Star CITIZEN...not Star Fighter Pilot, or Star Cargo, or Star Piracy. The fact you can do so many things many brush off as stupid is why this game is amazing. You can be a dock worker, a hired merc, or even a janitor...

      That was when they made A LOT of effort and mention of Bartenders being developed and the general press and also a lot of backers pointed this out as a "waste of time" and "false allocation of resources" and also "feature creep".
      The reason they did this was because the bartender was the logic they tested all this tech on so they could later use it for every role NPCs need to fill (and I think the person making the Bartender also did this because it was his on-boarding task to get to grips with the tools). Obviously it didn't help CIGs point when the Bartender became completely broken in the actual verse which probably was a result of the features still being under Dev and therefore breaking often combined with bad Server Performance

      Tbf, it genuinely wasn't until last CitCon that they ever claimed SQ42 to be feature-complete. It makes sense that it's now about becoming content-complete and polished, "finishing off".

    Yea, I stopped being excited for the release of SQ42 4 years ago. Normally I would say I cannot wait but I am done getting excited for anything from CIG! They have proven just how capable they are not and have claimed things are coming out, only to be 5+ years after they said it would be done and still waiting for them! At this point I just hope I live long enough to actually enjoy the game I have spent more money on then any other game to come out and I can enjoy it!

    They aren’t polishing shite. They’re still adjusting the flight model, HUD, and other major aspects of core gameplay features in star citizen which should have already been “completed” in sq 42. The new flight UI is terrible if there are more than 3 targets on your screen.
