Not to be confused with "brain ischemia" an "ischemic stroke" occurs when the blood flow to "part" of your brain is blocked meanwhile brain ischemia occurs when the entire brain is deprived of blood and oxygen
Hey. I don’t know if you’ll be or anyone else will be able to see this, but I am genuinely curious and deeply concerned about something and I am hoping you (or other people here) can give some insight because I’m pretty dumb. My closest family relative went through an ischemic stroke late last year. Their brain isn’t damaged. No severe irreversible effects in them whatsoever. All he has to do is to simply take some medications, check his blood pressure, drink less caffeine, etc. He is heathy and everything. But for some odd reason, I get this horrible “gut feeling” something horrible will happen to him. Like some sort of sudden unexplained/unexpected death will occur to them. I tried to Google (Yes I know.. “Smart” idea..) the survival rates, but it just led me to a more broader statistic and it’s giving me really bad anxiety. (Seriously, Google?…) I do NOT know what I would do to myself if lost my close relative because he is like my best friend in the whole world who is irreplaceable. Any insight and some advice will be greatly appreciated by you or anyone else here. Thank you for your time reading this vent/rant.
My granny Maureen had a stroke like this and the medical staff did a great job, she might have been a candidate to go home but had a second much larger stroke which ended her chances prematurely. ¡Me inspiran! I had a T.I.A a year ago. I'm bowel problems like abdominal pain and chronic constipation. Had any here has had a T.I.A with bowel movement problems after. Please help. Any information
Pretty sure this happened to me last night, I had weird symptoms and I’m still kinda having them, I have a tingling sensation in my head, I can’t think right I can’t speak correctly without tripping on words and stuff my feet went numb and my vision is blurry
I just had one of these but but am really thinking that this is what happened to me years ago while driving driving out of town. I had been driving a vehicle I'm not too familiar with and I was driving a very long distance without much stretching. Both events had the same exact symptoms except this one was more severe. I couldn't feel one side of my body even my eyes or that part of my mouth. I could barely walk which was pretty scary because I ended up driving myself to the emergency room. I think the weirdest part though is the fact that when it happens for about 3 hours afterwards it felt like I had complete paralysis on one side of my body, But the very next day I felt OK. I was definitely still very dizzy and have been ever since it happened but Have only felt numbness in my fingertips and my toes.
It can't be prevented...of course you have ways to minimize the possibilities of having a stroke but there's no therapy, diet or drug that is 100% effective.
@Solomon Arthur dude, I'm a neuroscientist. My thesis was on ischemic stroke...I THINK, I know a little something on this matter. You can have the healthiest diet but also a neverending set of genetic preconditions that make you vulnerable. Even if you are a hard-core vegan but you smoke or do other drugs, there's no way in hell you are 100% safe. And I beg to differ, but you can also suffer a stroke due to a big trauma. That's what I meant when I said there's no diet or treatment that can cover up every possible strike-inducing factor.
There are folks who lived into their 80s and 90s dude, and they never had any strokes. A man told me that his grandma died at 92 from heart failure, she never had strokes. If anyone born 1930 suffered a massive stroke in the 1960s, pretty sure he/she would ended in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
