Punk didn't waste that golden opportunity to sit under Paul Heyman's learning tree. From late-night airport pickups to burning the midnight oil editing shows, Punk was there for it all.
And now HHH is smart enough to know all of this and start using it over at NXT in the years to come. Smart enough to appreciate the genius of Heyman, and smart enough to appreciate anyone Paul took under his wing.
Which is why the product is thriving. Under Vince he had to have his hands and everything. If someone got over, organically it almost pissed Vince off because he didn’t have a hand in it and he would bury that person. He was so mad that Triple H was succeeding with NXT he took it over and ran it into the ground with that weird tie-dyed rainbow NXT that absolutely sucked. It blows my mind that there are actually still Vince McMahon supporters out there. Disgusting.
Man, I'd love to see Punk and Cornette work together in some way. I know Jim is retired but it'd be great if he worked a bit and got in the hall of fame.
Jim I believe has admitted he didn’t see what the fuss was about with Punk in the beginning. He thought he was good, but not great. But that was a few years after the Attitude Era had ended and standards were through the roof. By the late 2000s into 2010, Punk proved he was great. He didn’t have the jacked up physique that most wrestling companies want traditionally, but he proved he could work. Now, he can’t do some of the things he used to, but he can still talk, tell stories in and out of the ring and the decline in his wrestling abilities has been greatly exaggerated.
The funny thing about his abilities is that even though he can't do all the high spot stuff, his match with Drew was the best I've seen in like ten years. Just shows how little good wrestling is about the flashy stuff.
From the WWE roster right now it would be: Lesnar; Strauman; Breaker; Roman. From all wrestlers of all time: Lesnar; Andre; Race; Haku. From all time and all sports: Tyson; Haku; Andre; Lesnar.
Cm punk is the guy to call himself a paul Heyman guy , and trained and groomed the straight edge and covered all the angles of wwe ,bye 2011. Cm punk wax the best in world ,during super cena era
To be fair to the WWE, Punk made it pretty easy to be unlikable at first after how he mocked Rob Feinstein during the ROH break-up. Convincing them that Punk should get a shot was one of Cornette's last acts.
Wasnt heyman notorius for owing everyone money during the wcw days , while secretly being on the wwe roster ? Crazy how he was able to keep his reputation in the buisness.
As one of the kids Punk trained just want to say “thank you”.
For real? Baller stuff man!

Paul Heyman's WHAT??
@@toon_scalinglearning tree i think it lot better then Chris Jericho
It is so weird to follow you on Facebook and then see you in the wild somewhere else. Always great commentary on these situations.
That Corny impression was spot on
He's not joking about Cornette! He went from fan>photographer>manager>producer>trainer>booker>owner>podcast host.
Commentator too. Even wrestled a few matches while he was a manager. Man truly has done it all.
Paul Heyman guy isn't a gimmick to CM Punk like other fellows. It's real brother. This is wrassling.
Putting over Jim while talking about Paul should give Corny a chubby 😂

@@mikechristiansen8285if I recalled he took over because HHH heart problem at the time so he was out for a long time
This version of Punk is amazing

Damn, Jim and Punk missed on OVW. A great what-if indeed
Punks maturity on show here. Glad to see he's in a healthy mind space
Punk generally seems like he’s a respectful guy if people aren’t being idiots towards him lol

@@ReubenBarrett1989I don't think Punk ever did flashy high spot even in his prime but his in-ring phycology is top notch even back then to present
I can’t wait to see if cornette mentions this 😂
This is why I saw him as my favorite current wrestler. I wanted to join ROH when he was the trainer back in the day.
I didn't know punk and cornette were about to cross paths that could've been a good story
So CM Punk was originally a Jim Cornette guy. That’s funny 😂
And you can tell these days that they're really in tune with one another regarding how they think about wrestling these days.
@antoineLebraneTHANK YOU for that 😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The cult of meat and extra cheese@antoineLebrane
So the fact Punk pronounced Louisville correctly is refreshing . Put the strap on him asap 😭
Man, Punk's good at impressions 😂😂😂
Really good clip 🔥
I love the way punk trashes hogan within the 1st minute of the video! 😂😂😂
I can't quite articulate how much I need an impressionist Pepsi Phil compilation
When punk was fired from aew all I wanted was him to do the podcast pipebomb part 2 on cornettes podcast 😂 probably learned from the last time
Would love another hayman and punk reunion run
ss war games 2024

Instead of being fired and coming back he became one of the biggest stars ever in that shark infested water
Watching this interview made me realize why he’s gonna run NXT in the future.

Man the rise of cm punk in 2007 was goated
Summer of George, nice
No wonder he’ll be doing NXT once Shawn is gone
When he's done wrestling, I hope they put him in charge of NXT.
