Thanks for the review, very useful and fun to watch as well! I understood from your comments that John is learning wingfoiling with this 75lt board, is this size good for beginners? I am into wingfoiling since 12months now and riding a 115lt but was thinking to switch to the Armstrong sup 75lt. I am learning jibes. Thanks!
Depends upon weight. We primarily keep john on the 99L while he was learning. We've moved him now to the 75L. To begin you should be b/t 99-125L depending upon your weight and watersports history. Best Tim
Hi Tim, I looked at your footstrap placement and was wondering if you stay in the same Natural foot stance the whole time or whether you switch feet, and if you do switch feet do you just stand on the strap? I have been thinking about using straps for SUP or at least a front strap on my FG board, have you ever tried that? Looks like you have one end of the footstrap on the kick pad and the other in front of it, I will give that a go for winging.
When I have straps in, I spend a lot of time riding switch (not moving my feet). That said - Maui is a starboard tac off the beach and as such I'll ride with my right foot forward, just to the side of the strap. Additionally, the Armstrong straps are soft so it's no biggie if I do step on it. Straps is a decision that you kind of know when you're ready. Before strapping up on SUP foiling just make sure you're at a level of skill that your rides are consistent and predictable. You don't want to take a fall where you don't release from the strap (potential injury). So only put straps on when you feel you are very ready. Have that strap be a looser fit so you can easily remove it when you fall. Hope that helps! Cheers, Tim
@@HALFLIFEVIDEO Thanks for taking the time to get back to me. I will give them a go in some small waves. I'm making most of my waves unless I try to take off on something too steep so I will make sure I try it gentle surf first. I did 20 years of wavesailing so I'm comfortable using straps in that discipline at least. Not sure if that would make difference for foiling.
Hi Irwe905 -- I disagree and like the current size. Given that it goes all the way through, I wouldn't want it to be any bigger. Go bigger and increase the drag of the hole in the bottom at slow speeds prior to the board lifting off. Just my perspective. I've had a good amount of sessions on the board and that has not been an issue once. That said - I'm about 5'11" so for someone who's 6'3 or larger - perhaps there hands are bigger. Cheers, Tim
Hi Jonny, We mostly prone foil surf (WS4, ws45, ws410). That said - I do a ton of wing foil in the waves - carbon makes it lightweight so it performs well in the waves. The key will be getting the right Liter for you were you're at with your skills. Do you currently SUP foil? Best, Tim
@@HALFLIFEVIDEO i just got the 88L board but havent sup foiled at all - so looking for info on it. plenty of winging experience but new to sup foil. have a 925 and 1325. maybe your next video? thanks.
BTW -- You should have bought the board from us! We typically throw in Video lessons! If you're new to SUP foil you may enjoy the HS foils better. What size waves will you be in? Feel free to email us at halflifet.5@gmail.com Best, Tim
@@JonnyTwofifty Appreciate your comment was 11 months ago, but how did you find it for SUP foiling? I have a 99l I've been using for 4 months for winging and love it, but I've never tried sup foiling it. Also, what is your weight if you don't mind me asking. Thanks.
Nice riding Tim!
thanks Carson -- super fun board to ride.

I have heard from other Armstrong Wingers that the hole through carrying box could be bigger for a better grip. What's your opinon?

What size board was it? Also which mast and foil did you use in this video?
Board was the Armstrong WS525 (75L), Mast 85cm, foil HS1550V2.

Tim
have you guys used this board for sup surf foiling? i guess that it works as that's what the name implies but cant find any info...

@@savmf didnt work for me - i have an 85 litre and weigh in at 75. are new longer boards look better suited.
The walk of shame…..college memories.
Ha ha -- yep. The nice thing about winging is the walks back up wind are pretty easy when you have light carbon gear.
