I love your passion and desire to bring everyone to this wonderful water activity. It is a wonderful idea to generate interest and build confidence as well as to break down the path to foiling into small enjoyable stages and achievable goals on the way, using existing equipment such as an old windsurfer or a SUP.
I don’t know if you share this but I am also for a gathering of all Wingfoilers and wannabe wingfoilers to meet a couple of times a year to display, sale/ exchange second hand gear and to introduce the sport to those who only look at it from the beach. The more people get to handle a wing and feel how easy it is, the more approachable the concept becomes. A “Foilfest” in can Pastilla where the schools could propose free introduction to the handling of the wings and were everyone could buy and sale second hand gear, meet people, give advice and generate interest in this fun sport and where manufacturers and shops could display their latest foil stuff? Throw in a BBQ and some beverages and we have ourselves a great day at the beach, regardless of the wind conditions. What say you?

Howdy from Texas! Good tips! I didn't hear you mention it but, when I wing SUP I like to position my wing towards my back foot in order to help point my SUP in the direction I want to go. It helps the board pivot around.

I've seen/read several people talking about the fore/aft positioning of the wing as you hold it and adjusting it forward or rear and switching hand positions to facilitate such movement. But they are adjusting on the fly and as the wing/wind position changes. Upwind or downwind or across wind I have no clue what wing position does. ;)

I mainly SUP surf in Sydney and Bali, but am keen to explore SUP surfing and foiling in other countries. I haven't started foiling yet but am thinking about buying a wing and using it on a SUP. It seems to be a good way to get into the sport without spending too much initially. @@wingfoil_mallorca
I'm learning the wing on land right now. One thing I'm noticing is I can only keep it controllable almost directly nose into the wind. As soon as I try to angle the wing just 10 degrees or so off center the wind grabs it too hard and pulls a wingtip down into the ground. (6m wing for our 10mph MAX summer winds, and i'm 5'8") I know I'm trying to sail across the wind, at something approaching 45 degrees to the wind. I grasp that some of that is using your body to twist through your legs to point the board where you want to go. But is the wing always pointing directly upwind? I've been e foiling 2 summers and now ready to learn to wing in our light wind conditions. (inland lake). SUP first to learn the wing and then Gong Cruzader inflatable to foil. :)
I hear you and this is a part you have to get through by investing more hours and eventually you will figure it out. It is true that the hips and legs control the direction of the board and you use the wing to get more or less “gas” in your rides.
What size SUP w/b good to attach a center fin to. Is an inflatable SUP OK?

Yes, for a first learning experience any SUP board is fine. And a center fin makes it even easier. The objective is to learn to navigate with the wing and to be able to concentrate on that you need something stable to stand on. Good luck!

Du meine Güte! Ich komme vom Surfsport ... das Surfboard zum Paddeln zu nehmen war Zeitvertreib in der Flaute. heutzutage SUP, na meinetwegen. Wem es Spass macht der soll den Spass auch haben. Ich will das wirklich nicht miesmachen. Will ja nicht jeder Windsurfen lernen. Aber wenn schon Segel und Board - dann doch nicht so ?! Über sowas hätten wir uns echt kaputt gelacht, sorry ....
