Damn, so close! Warriors are one of those teams though that doesn’t have to have a great season but as long as they’re healthy for playoffs, they can defy the odds.
They didn't fully defy odds. Their start is more accurate to who the team was. They had a lot of injuries and bringing back klay wasn't a seemless fit so they had a bad second half but after klay found his place and Wiggins figured out his new role, and they were healthy they were the best team.

Vegas' numbers do account for Kyrie missing time by creating a weighted value for each individual NBA player, rather than using strictly team-based metrics. This is why they currently give the Nets the 4th best odds to win.
@@bankroll1648 KD and Kyrie need to average about 100 points a game to take four games from Boston. These aren’t last year’s Celtics, and definitely not last year’s Nets.
As a C's fan I'm in literal shock at the prediction and how accurately its unfolding. Out of the 5 teams he said had a real shot at the title, 2 of them are gone and 3 of them are in the conference finals (6/7) 😬
Yep, and from those two, the Grizzlies doesnt have the expectation to go the conference final; While the Suns was a goddamn anomaly and the number one reason you shouldnt put 100% faith on statistic.
Of these three, the best and the worst in terms of score differentials against top 8 teams are against each other in one end of the conference finals and, well, we all know what's going down with the Warriors. So, it's looking like anything can happen with the Heat and the Celtics but it's basically locked in that the Warriors are going to be in the NBA Finals once again...
The problem with the numbers only is it doesn't account for injuries. For example, the Warriors never had a full team until game 1 of the playoffs. So their numbers used were lower than they should have been.
Plus it doesn't account for morale and momentum more or less which is sometimes something you can only feel or notice by watching the games and seeing the players live. Booker trash talking luka, knowing luka or other situations with curry or klay or whoever, that difference in play won't come up in statistics but might be visible
I mean, most casual fans could have identified the Suns, Warriors, and Celtics as the best 3 contenders if they followed this season, but it is very interesting nonetheless.

Well, the C's are going to the Finals. Against the Warriors. Jimmy here deserves to be on ESPN and all the Sports Analysis shows. He's more qualified than Stephen A. Smith.
But the Celtics wont win the Finals. Draymond is unable to get Techs now. He will T up the entire Celtics starters and singlehandedly destroy the Celtics in a 8v5. Jordan Poole will get foul calls from JB just touching his jersey and may as well be Flagrant 1 against Tatum for just boxing Green out. The fourth quarter of game 1 showed to Adam Silver that if he wants a 7 game series with the warriors, it's gotta be 8v5. I have no idea why Adam thinks its a good idea to fix NBA games against a huge market team like Boston for the sake of pandering to Steph Curry marketing and merchandise. Kudos to Giannis for winning the chip in a league fixing games against teams which don't make Adam $$$$. Kudos to Raptors for winning the chip 8v5 since the series didn't make Adam $$$$$ If Celtics can beat the warriors 8v5, its a middle finger to Adam that he'll need another ref and make it 9v5 against true champions.

Statistically speaking, 73 out of the 75 NBA champions have always been in the top 3 of their conference. Only 2 teams have won it while being outside of the top 3 seed, the 1969 Boston Celtics (4th seed) and the 1995 Houston Rockets (6th seed). Meaning there's a 97.3% chance that one of the Suns, Grizzlies, Warriors, Heat, Celtics, or Bucks will end up being the NBA champions.
@@chrisbeach423 the nets are an anomaly. We all know they aren't a 7th seed team. Only reason they are at the 7th seed was the injury kd got in the middle of the season and kyrie missing half the games. Remember before kd's injury they were the 2nd or 3rd seed in the east
Who's here after Celtics making the finals? Only one more team in the way of Jimmy being right. Celtics beat the Heat, Bucks, and Nets. It isn't out of realm for Celtics to win finals, it will be hard but they have beat the odds before. Heres something reliable I jotted down: Before Using The Point Differential Method, You May Have Used The Strength Of Schedule Metric, So Why Not I Do: Strength of Schedule Leaders of the 8 Likely Contenders: 1. Warriors, 2. Heat, 3. Celtics, 4. Grizzlies, 5. Suns. Now, take the Point Differential Statistic and stack the two statistics on top of each other: 1. Warriors, 2. Heat, 3. Celtics, 4. Grizzlies, 5. Suns. 1. Celtics, 2. Suns, 3. Warriors, 4. Grizzlies, 5. Heat. Now if you look at it you see 3 things with the 5 things: 1. The Celtics and Warriors share the 1’s and 3’s each time. 2. The Suns and Heat share the 2’s and 5’s each time. 3. The Grizzlies stay in the 4 each time. By taking this you can automatically remove the Grizzlies, sorry Memphis, maybe next year. Now you have the Celtics, Warriors, Suns, and Heat. But we need 1 team, not 4. So- As JxmyHighroller says, “Lets go deeper,” Lets look at Team Chemistry. Highest Team Chemistry Stats: 1. Warriors, 2. Suns, 3. Celtics, 4. Heat. Ok, now with that. Remove the Heat, Miami is always questionable, even with Bron and DWade. Now you have the Warriors, Suns, and Celtics. So lets go deeper by looking at last years playoff performance by these teams: 2020-21 Playoff Performances: 1. Suns (Finals), 2. Celtics (First Round), 3. Warriors (Play-In). Well, that states more.. We can’t remove the Warriors just yet, the stats have shown they have a well chance. Lets go deeper by looking at Playoff Depth and Playoff Matches: Celtics: Nets, Bucks or Bulls, Heat or 76ers (Most Likely), Warriors or Suns (Most Likely). Warriors: Nuggets, Grizzlies or T-Wolves, Suns or Mavs (Most Likely), Celtics (Most Likely). Suns: Pelicans or Clippers, Mavericks or Jazz, Warriors or Grizzlies (Most Likely), Celtics (Most Likely). Out of all these teams, the Warriors are the only team that have to play a top 5 contending team in the 2nd round. The Warriors have it the hardest, then the Suns, then the Celtics. Remove Golden State, Phoenix is just a bit better, going 64 - 18…. Now in the finals it will be Suns and Celtics. We have gathered a ton of information, so lets stack all of it. Yes, every single stat. But only with the remaining teams stats. Only Boston and Phoenix. 3. Celtics, 5. Suns. 1. Celtics, 2. Suns. 2. Suns, 3. Celtics. 1. Suns, 2. Celtics. 1. Celtics, 2. Suns. Well, there we go. The Celtics have the better statistical favorings 3 - 2. So, with all the statistics I just made, the Boston Celtics will win the 2022 NBA Championship.
A Celtics fan since the early 80’’s. So Jimmy I hope your right lol. We got a lot of work to do to win it because this is one year where there really is no clear cut pick to bet the farm on. Go Celtics
That’s awesome bro. I’m a LeBron fan. Would be awesome to see you guys win it all, personally I have the mavericks but the Celtics winning would really be something to see
I saw the Celtics points diff and decided to have a look for myself: When the Celtics won, they won by a decent margin, when they lost, they usually lost by only a few points. They had more big wins though (against the big teams), with the biggest against Phili by 48, the heat by 32, 29 v Memphis, and the Nets by 35. Biggest losses were 2 21 point games and a 32 point loss to Toronto 2 games into the season. If you don’t count the 32 for the sake of the season just starting, their avg. loss margin is only about 7 points. They had a lot of 3-4 point losses and a few 12-15 pointers as well with the two 21 point games being the outliers. So while the 48 against phili is a slight statpad, and the 29 point grizzlies game was the last game of the season, they legit did play really well. They managed to not lose by 15+ a lot and also managed to win quite a few games by 20+ Disclaimer; I pretty much hate the Celtics, so this is about as unbiased as it can be.
ive been tellin my co-workers celtics takin it this year.. yes ima fan lol but u actually put sum good stats behind it nice work 💯 but honestly i think it comes down to 1 simple thing for my celtics, jayson tatum cannot dribble the damn ball off his foot in crunch time, this is been a problem for him since duke no lie..
I’m a fan too, but I personally just feel weird with Rob Will being hurt. The team didn’t feel the same without him toward the end of the year. We lost to the Heat… If we get a healthy Rob back, I have no doubt that we will be taking this year’s chip

Jimmy is spot on about Vegas having really great mathematicians. I remember going to numerous Economics professors/TAs office hours (economics is fundamentally mathematical modeling at its core) to seek help with calculations. The gambling industry and (not surprisingly) the stock market are where modeling is exceptionally profitable and needed. “If it was about the money we’d go to Vegas” became an ongoing joke.

All things considered, the fact that you narrowed down to 5 teams and GSW and the Celtics were in it was impressive in itself. And the Celtics were favored to win despite Curry being the best player in that series. I hope you do this every year because it was fun to see.
As a grizz fan who had ZERO expectations going into this season other than maybe getting in the play in again, I am stoked we're even in the running. If Ja could bring home the franchise's first title in his third season, that would be some all time great level stuff.
This defense is incredibly talented. You have the "Smother Brothers" (Smart and Robert Williams) who we all knew were good defensively. But Tatum and brown are playing at a really high level defensively this year as well. Horford's always been defensive guy. I think the starting 5 fall under the "Smother Brothers" umbrella now... and White and G.Williams are right there.

Hey Jimmy! Thanks for the great video. If I may add some context as CS major who’s a machine learning researcher. First of all, no matter which model you are using for prediction, it is expected to be imperfect. Having 100% prediction quality is something called perfect separation and it is not favourable. But theoretically we still might get an extremely high prediction accuracy. Bare with me for a moment. There is the issue of a non-representative sample. We are trying to predict the outcome of a highly complex system having insufficient data. Although the game has changed significantly, I would still consider a couple of more seasons. We might also augment the data set using some simulation, e.g. nba 2k (perhaps there are better options than 2k). This can go either way, but the practice of using synthetic data is something we might benefit from. Regarding the medium articles mentioned, in the first one the author used a simple regression, but the second went a little further with XGBoost. I would pick the simplest neural network any day of the week. That is because neural networks are favoured for their ability to caption complex dependencies in the data that are sort-of invisible for simpler models. Last but not least, we can get an almost perfect score if we account at least the stats of the top players for each team including injuries, percentage of games won when a player was in the game, etc. Again, this can go either way depending on the model and the sample size. However, attempting to model the result of an entire NBA season is an extremely difficult task. And we know how much a all-star caliber player can impact the outcome of not just a single game. Hope this was useful and at least somewhat interesting. Thanks again for the high quality of your content. Keep safe.
Here a day before game 5 of the finals and the Warriors and Celtics are tied at 2-2. If Curry, Poole, and Wiggins weren’t all finding new levels of greatness at the same time, Boston might be running away with this. What is insane, though was the fall of the Suns. Anyway, great video, man.
Jimmy, great video. BUT... things are changing in the NBA the last couple of seasons. The superstars of the 2010s are slowly regressing. The SRS, last 4 years: 4th, 5th, 3rd, 3rd The RSR last 4 years: 7th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd The MOV last 4 years: 3rd, 5th, 3rd, 3rd Not one 1st in any of those... Players are not really bothered about the regular season any more, hell, Giannis doesn't even care about MVP, scoring title or DPOY. He could've won all 3 if he tried a little in the last 5 games or so... I'm not a betting man, but if I was, I would bet Suns-Bucks final again, with Bucks winning back 2 back.

As a Celtics fan, I pray to god we don’t choke this “reliable” chart lol
Heres something reliable I jotted down:
Before Using The Point Differential Method, You May Have Used The Strength Of Schedule Metric, So Why Not I Do:
Strength of Schedule Leaders of the 8 Likely Contenders: 1. Warriors, 2. Heat, 3. Celtics, 4. Grizzlies, 5. Suns.
Now, take the Point Differential Statistic and stack the two statistics on top of each other:
1. Warriors, 2. Heat, 3. Celtics, 4. Grizzlies, 5. Suns.
1. Celtics, 2. Suns, 3. Warriors, 4. Grizzlies, 5. Heat.
Now if you look at it you see 3 things with the 5 things:
So-
As JxmyHighroller says, “Lets go deeper,” Lets look at Team Chemistry.
Highest Team Chemistry Stats:
1. Warriors, 2. Suns, 3. Celtics, 4. Heat.
Ok, now with that. Remove the Heat, Miami is always questionable, even with Bron and DWade.
Now you have the Warriors, Suns, and Celtics. So lets go deeper by looking at last years playoff performance by these teams:
2020-21 Playoff Performances:
1. Suns (Finals), 2. Celtics (First Round), 3. Warriors (Play-In).
Well, that states more..
We can’t remove the Warriors just yet, the stats have shown they have a well chance.
Lets go deeper by looking at Playoff Depth and Playoff Matches:
Celtics: Nets, Bucks or Bulls, Heat or 76ers (Most Likely), Warriors or Suns (Most Likely).

That’s awesome bro. I’m a LeBron fan. Would be awesome to see you guys win it all, personally I have the mavericks but the Celtics winning would really be something to see
I saw the Celtics points diff and decided to have a look for myself:
When the Celtics won, they won by a decent margin, when they lost, they usually lost by only a few points.
They managed to not lose by 15+ a lot and also managed to win quite a few games by 20+
Disclaimer; I pretty much hate the Celtics, so this is about as unbiased as it can be.
ive been tellin my co-workers celtics takin it this year.. yes ima fan lol but u actually put sum good stats behind it nice work 💯 but honestly i think it comes down to 1 simple thing for my celtics, jayson tatum cannot dribble the damn ball off his foot in crunch time, this is been a problem for him since duke no lie..

Legend Says Steph Saw this Video after Game 3 lol.
Keep safe.
This shit is deadass happening in front of our eyes. Jimmy realllly predicted this.
Lucky prediction
@@briansmusic7611 oh shush
Nah close tho
So close btw. Since the Warriors are the 2022 champs 🏆
My day becomes so much better when jimmy uploads
Here a day before game 5 of the finals and the Warriors and Celtics are tied at 2-2. If Curry, Poole, and Wiggins weren’t all finding new levels of greatness at the same time, Boston might be running away with this. What is insane, though was the fall of the Suns. Anyway, great video, man.
Lol
Well, maybe numbers can't predict the future but huge respect for the analysis!
The amount of data with graphs and tables to support his claims in incredible. Props to you Jimmy, your hard work is not going unnoticed.
came back to this right after steph lifted his first finals mvp, but jimmy was really close
This vid right here is a testament to why the Warriors' 2022 title was by far their most impressive win of their recent 4.
The only one that might be considered impressive..
Jimmy, great video. BUT... things are changing in the NBA the last couple of seasons.
The superstars of the 2010s are slowly regressing.
The SRS, last 4 years: 4th, 5th, 3rd, 3rd
The RSR last 4 years: 7th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd
The MOV last 4 years: 3rd, 5th, 3rd, 3rd
Not one 1st in any of those...
Players are definitely bothered by regular season. They’re not just gonna lie down for the competition
I agree bucks in 6 again
Jimmy putting in the hardwork again! Love the work bro. Keep it up
is it me or that thumbnail picture for this video is from today? cuz this video was posted two days ago🤔🤔
By far the best basketball content on youtube or even TV! Looking at you espn, hire this man!
