Hey Joey, you really need to check the Grand Finals and Semi final bizkit vs robin, those two match were crazy and the beatboxers were really at a high level this year
To note: Mirsa had to restart twice I believe on his first round. It's been said (and when watching it Live streamed) it was "due to the lights" (they spent like 5 minutes adjusting the lights until Mirsa said it was okay) but really I think it was just the nerves of knowing what was about to go down. On top of restarting twice he also went way over time. Then for the rest of this GBB whenever any artists made 1 single mistake "it was because of the lights." Every year GBB and other major Beatbox shows have insane, crazy light shows. Yet for this GBB the lights "were an issue." Only for the Loopstation battles also. The Loopstation showcases were fine and they had even more intense lightshows.
I don't think it was a random excuse. The lights were said to be an issue by everybody including those who were winning. The issue wasn't the lights flashing around, it was apparently there was a strong light pointed towards their devices while setting up, which is clashing with the devices own lights. That's why Scott Jackson asked the lights (only the stage ones) to be lowered before every battle.
Yeah I don’t think it was an excuse I remember some complained about the lights before starting their rounds. That doesn’t mean people didn’t have other issues, but lighting obscuring the loopstation lights was an issue at this venue.
Can you make it so that when you talk it doesn't lower the volume of the video and also turn down your voice a lot? I think it would make these much more enjoyable to watch. I love the Reactions!
As a looper, i can see that you're way more impressed and interested by loopstation tracks made by the MK2 (i'll explain) which was used by Mirsa. The hardware that they all use in those loopstation battles are the RC-505 loopstation, but a more recent hardware version came to the market quite recently, named the RC-505 MK2. This new hardware offers way more customization options for effects like sequencers and step sequencers, built in oscillator bot that just creates tones and is also sequencable. Bizkit's chose to use the old hardware which is really limited compared to Mirsa's and other participants. The reason being that he just feels really acclimated to the old device and already masters it. That's why you feel like Bizkit's stuff had less elements and less quality than Mirsa but he defo had more change-ups (bro is working that device). Anyways, i would suggest that you watch "MK2 only" battles, new-gens are making this device look like production hardware ! For example, i would suggest one or two battles from the recent Loopstation World Championships : - Looping World Championship 🇧🇪 Yaswede vs 808Banon 🇺🇸 Vocal Music Soundclash - Final 2023 - Looping World Championship 🇨🇿 Watt vs 808Banon 🇺🇸 Vocal Music Soundclash - Semi Final 2023 German loopers are also the HOT talk of the town recently : - ANTRIX VS SYJO | Loop FINAL | East German Beatbox Championship 2022 And also the whole German Beatbox Championship 2022 competition is extremely good. (I know i'm not the first one to recommend that). Finally, the new GBB Producer Category will be an interesting watch. It will showcase how far can the artists push the music production aspect while still trying to vocally source their input sounds. There is a round 1 and round 2 showcase where 6 participants show us their sets. The 2 rounds scores are rounded up and they make a final ranking with it. Honestly, all producer showcases are worth it but here are my personal favorites : - KBA 🇩🇰 | GRAND BEATBOX BATTLE 2023: WORLD LEAGUE | Producer Showcase Round 1 - SyJo 🇩🇪 | GRAND BEATBOX BATTLE 2023: WORLD LEAGUE | Producer Showcase Round 2 - Antrix 🇩🇪 | GRAND BEATBOX BATTLE 2023: WORLD LEAGUE | Producer Showcase Round 1 That's about it ! For mirsa's first round, there was an issue with the lights on stage being too bright and he couldn't see his loop properly. If memory serves me correct, he had to restart which was cut from the video. I'm guessing in those first few seconds of the round, he's resetting perameters that he may have forgot to reset. Thought this second part is only speculation on my part.
Generally speaking there is a strong brotherhood among most of the beatbox community. There was a real thing of Mirsa talking crap about Bizkit and how his music is inaudible. He claimed that the metalic and aggressive nature of his music was not pleasant to hear and hurt his ears. So Bizkit went after him strong.
