Miyako says herself that piano is her first instrument, she started playing by age of 3. She is at concert pianist level. With guitar she started only with 18. She just released a solo EP with 6 piano covers of classic metal and rock songs. But it‘s more than just covers. She arranged and rewrote the pieces into the style of classical piano etudes. There is also a high quality video available from this EP on LOVEBITES official channel of her version of „Eagle fly free“ original by Helloween ua-cam.com/video/-h3BLRs0Xr4/v-deo.html
@@davidtormaschy9988 All the interpretations of the 6 songs are done masterfully. How she preserves the essence of the original and still adds her own flavor and soul is incredible!
That was at Asami's birthday party. I'm pretty sure there's no post on that, and it is as raw as it gets, which is even more impressive to me. It's also quite amazing to hear Asami sing this with just the piano, as you can sense the power she has vocally and sometimes she uses it. It always surprises me, even though I know what to expect, and you know it is there. Miyako started playing piano at the age of 3. I'm sure she would say it is her first and primary instrument, which is why her being so good on guitar is so impressive. It probably came pretty naturally to her though. I'd be willing to bet she is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to music. Given her focus she always displays when playing, I'd bet that she doesn't improv anything. It's probably al planned. I could be wrong though. I love this performance also for Miyako's playing because you get an amazing sense of her timing and touch on the keys. She's masterful. If you haven't reacted to it, I'd recommend Empty Daydream. It's different from their other pieces for a few reasons. You get some of this at the start, but you also get them dipping into shades of another genre and a few surprises. I love that sone and it is not often reacted to. Another non-official channel link, but I chose the one with proper subtitles, which is good for this song: ua-cam.com/video/BkPxcnsRjlk/v-deo.html Also, Asami is always singing in English. You get to understand her better after some dozen songs or so, but there are a few songs I still don't catch all the lyrics to (I haven't memorized any of them from straight written lyrics). She spent a large part of their break working on her English. I cannot tell you how much I hope that means a World Tour soon.
@@alekhidell Thanks for the correction! I have seen it mentioned multiple times that it was her birthday party. Funny how little mistakes like that spread.
This is from a Dec. 20, 2020 stream. The 1st part was a reprise of the July 2019 birthday show, with virtually the same setlist, including Miyako accompanying Asami on "Rising". 2nd part was the Christmas show.
You're 100% correct about Miyako being a pianist that can play guitar. She just recently released a solo EP of 6 songs completely restructured into a full piano piece with influences of a number of her favorite classical composers. ua-cam.com/video/-h3BLRs0Xr4/v-deo.html This for instance being her rendition of Eagle Fly Free by Helloween. VERY beautifully done
Thanks for reacting to this one guys. Despite the audio glitches, it's a beautiful rendition. For contrast, check out the same song played live in Tokyo in 2020 by the band, it's way more uptempo! Miyako does a short piano piece on this as well. If piano qualifies for acoustic week, I highly commend Miyako's new solo EP of piano covers. There is one MV released on YT, for Helloween's Eagle Fly Free, which will knock your socks off. Miyako takes a metal classic and rearranges it into a classical concerto. Her talent knows no boundaries. The band also did a studio live performance of this cover, and it would be a nice double feature to review both, so you can better appeciate how Miyako has covered both the guitar and bass solos on keys, its an amazing arrangement. Link follows, cheers. ua-cam.com/video/-h3BLRs0Xr4/v-deo.html
Miyako is having a piano recital in Nov, " A Night With Miyako, " one of the songs she would like to play is " La Campanella " by Franz Liszt ( still to be determined ) because it's very difficult, even for her. It's been said that only a 1000 or 2 piano players in the world can attempt it, 😮 & even less can do it justice ! Miyako is 33 yrs old, she's been playing piano for 30 of those yrs & guitar for 15 yrs. 😏❤️🎸🎹😎🤘
Just a note you should be aware of: when singing with Lovebites, Asami always sings in English, every word. They've only done one song with Japanese lyrics, and even that was rerecorded in English.
Amazing to see them doing something like that together. Rising is one of my preferred Lovebites songs because it's absolutely uplifting and inspiring. Thanks for reacting to it. Asami's hability to write lyrics in english is formidable and she does a great job singing in english (we must remember even native english speakers are not able to understand all accents of english existent around the world, because there are different ways of pronouncing and even differences in vocabulary from one group to another - american, canadian, english, scottish, southern african, australian and many others). I've heard several opinions about it in Lovebites songs but, in general, even when Asami is not absolutely correct on her pronunciation of an english word or expression, she is still smartly adjusting it to the best possible way for the performance in that song. So, we just need to follow the lyrics if we want. And I do this for any bands, even with ones in my own native language (portuguese), because sometimes I really can't understand a thing the singer is saying! By the end, it's a thing we get used to and even get to like - because it brings it's own charm with it!
Love Miyako's solo piano album Etude Op. 23 she does covers of Helloween Eagle Fly Free, Metallica Battery, Malmsteens Far beyond the sun, Gary Moore's The Loner, Deep Purple's Burn and Lovebites Addicted
Great reaction and review. You definitely should try Miyako's Eagle Fly Free Helloween cover on grand piano ua-cam.com/video/-h3BLRs0Xr4/v-deo.html. It is more than a cover actually. It is a finest interpretation. As a Japanese man myself, I tell you no Japanese cares about foreigner's mispronunciation. On the other hand, quite many American reactors, interestingly only Americans but no other English speakers, criticize Asami's accent. I think we all should be generous to foreign accents.
Asami is called:The One and Only Voice for a reason, try and imagine yourself or any other singer singing in a foreign language, especially a language so different in word pronunciation, and singing with the clarity and control she does. Good reaction again and keep going forward with journey. God bless 🤘🥁🎤🎹🎸🐺

This is an official LOVEBITES song, as others have mentioned all LOVEBITES songs are in English except for the song Bravehearted from their EP “the LOVEBITES EP” witch is in Japanese and was written by drummer Haruna and the English version of Bravehearted is on the album “Awakening from Abyss” and if you want here is a live performance of the song Rising (live from Zepp Diver City 2020) ua-cam.com/video/6nci8KtXJPk/v-deo.html performed by the whole band and it has proper subtitles to the lyrics oh and this video you have just reacted to was probably captured by the same software that you use to do reactions with so it’s understandable that the quality is a little off but it’s still a nice thing to see that this band has the ability to play anything they set their minds to.
Mi-Ya-Ko (みやこ). Mi-Do-Ri (みどり) , A-Sa-Mi (あさみ). “Mi” (み) has the same sound in each case. When you see “i” in a Japanese word, think of “pizza”, or “sushi”.
Awesome!! This is such a beautiful rendition of an already beautiful song to begin with!! 😊 Speaking of Miyako as a pianist, she just released her first EP, completely on piano doing covers of some of her favorite songs. She released a video of Eagle Fly Free by Helloween - ua-cam.com/video/-h3BLRs0Xr4/v-deo.html (Lovebites also did a full band cover of the same song a couple years ago)
Mee-ah-koh Slight emphasis on first syllable (actually slightly higher pitch, not louder). This was from a private performance on Asami's birthday. It keeps getting posted and then taken down. It was not meant to be a public performance.
It’s an acoustic piano, so you can call this an acoustic piano. The lyrics are 100% English. MIYAKO is a better piano player than she is a guitar player. I expect she worked out every single note of this arrangement beforehand.
As you are always so respectful, please accept this comment in the same vein. Asami sang every word in English and although she has a heavy accent (she is Japanese after all), I really don’t understand how you could imagine that any of the words were in any other language.
So . . . Japanese vowels are always pronounced the same way. A: "ah' · I: "ee" · U: "oo" · E: "ay" · O: "oh" Asami: ah - sa - mee Miyako: mee - yah - koh Midori: mee - doh - ree Haruna: hah - roo - nah Fami: fah - mee Miho: mee - hoh When there's only one vowel, it's a quick sound. Once I figured out these things, Japanese words and names - at least when they're Romanized - became simple for me to sound out.
