Oh my god, thank you so much for the tip with putting three multibands in a row to split the frequencies and adjust every band for itself. I was wanting to do that but didn't know how to isolate the bands. This is really helpful. Thanks!
I have watched a lot of tutorials on Kick synthesis over the past few years and this is by far the very best one I have come across. I had actually given up on making my own after many sub-par kicks and resorted to using Romero Kick. Doing a before and after this one is better than any kick I have made in the Romero plugin. I really understand the compression side of a kick now as well and will be using the multi band technique on other applications too. Thanks heaps for putting the effort into making this video man. It's been a massive help. Cheers
Indeed this video is very good but we can add certains things: -the pitch bend slope can be change in regular to sound more 90's -map the OSC A to a Macro control to control the fundamental easy ( between 42Hz and 90 Hz) -Use an EQ 8 not a filter to eq the mid bend (more precise) -Use a fix wave too for OSC 2 cause it's change the pitch otherwise (but i can give a good style) :)
Hi Gary It is very interesting and also fruitful for me to watch this tutorial. As a beginner for electronic music production, fat drum creation is a big challenge that require a lot a attention . With the Great guys I meet online like you, who have passion and enthusiasm to impart their experience and expertise in music with humility, I will be able to overcome my obstacles. You are wonderful. Thank you V.V much From William Bapela Persistent Music Project South Africa
Great tutorial, very easy to follow and definitely one of the most in-depth when it comes to creating a delicious well round kick from start to finish. BIG sound. I was just wondering though and this is maybe kind of a noob question, but how do I go about tuning this to suit my track now? Should I just use the pitch envelope's global transpose or would I need to alter the frequency of the high click as well?
Thank you for this tutorial! I knew I could make low, deep kick drums using sine waves, but your method helped me achieve one of the sounds I've been after. I did make some minor alterations, such as a Tune macro for the sub frequency of the kick. Great job and thanks again! Shan :-D
Thanks for the great tutorial, finding good tutorials on UA-cam can be a real task! Would you recommend any layering, say perhaps with kick/hat samples to bring character to the sound, and where would you include this process in your chain? Many thanks!
Great Turtorial on todays often heard house kicks!! Thanks for that... One question from my side: In the begging where you adjust the release of ocs1: does the release still have an effect on the sound if you set the sustain to zero?
You're very welcome! Beside that i'd like to ask you a couple of questions regarding production if you don't mind.Better in private i think.Cheers mate!
i don't have the convolution reverb max for live audio effect for the high end/click reverb for the kick. I guess you need the newest version of Ableton which I don't have? Anyways, do you know that answer, AND if NOT doing it without Convolution Reverb Pro what reverb settings or preset would you suggest on a standard reverb audio effect? Really liked this tutorial a lot by the way, thanks!
+skateg101 Hi mate thanks for the comment. You can download 'max for live essentials' for free from the Ableton website I think. If you can't get it for whatever reason, try the standard Reverb plug-in with a similar decay time (under 1s) and play with the dry/wet mix to taste.
One question. Why would you add Utility only to the 'low' chain of the MDP, and not for all chains or the entire MDP, if kicks are best kept in mono? Great video either way, I keep coming back to this :)
Hi m8ty,do you do subscription courses?I really like the way you explain, clear, easy, precise, and informative.excellent tuition. Was thinking of enroling with Live-Courses,but if you do something similar I'd definaly be interested. :)
MrCloe333 Hey that's good timing! I am just about to make available to buy a 'Beginners Guide' to Ableton. I've been working on it for a few weeks. It is in the style of my other videos but goes into more detail about all the aspects of Ableton from the layout, to making sounds, effects, mixing and arranging. Please DM me your email address so I can send you more info. Thanks again. Gary
literally the best kick drum tutorial i have seen

I agreed
That was the most enjoyable presentation of production tutorial I've ever seen. Thank you!

Nice tutorial! Oscillator 2 is not set as Fixed, so the tone will change with different key triggers. Is that an oversight?
Well spotted! Yes!
Thank You
fucking AMAZING! thank u sir!!
I love it
thank you for your time! useful +++
Thank you!
thank you very much!
One question. Why would you add Utility only to the 'low' chain of the MDP, and not for all chains or the entire MDP, if kicks are best kept in mono?
Great video either way, I keep coming back to this :)
I guess only the sub of the bass is key to keep in mono, depends on the genre and kick sample.
@@DemiGodsMusic Thank you Gary!
This is a brilliant video. How come to dont do them anymore?
Life. Time. The usual. I will do them again at some point...
Sur la chaîne de ''DJ Noël Léon, les mix sont réalisés avec de très bons ''kick drums'' aussi...
my minds fryed after that lol but good tut ty

+Demi Gods Ableton Tutorials Loving your channel. Did you invent this technique?
I wouldn't say invented hehe it's more a combination of tips from multiple sources, a bit like sampling ;)
