Being a 63 year old British male, watching your reactions make me realize how lucky I am to have lived through all the different eras of wonderful music that our country has brought to the world. Watching Kel's reactions to my favourite parts is quite emotional. Keep up the good work.
What a treat. Vividly remember as a young lad parking my push bike round the back of my mate Paul’s council house to spend afternoons listening to the Moodys. What a decade the 70’s were for incredible prog music.
@@cambridge5 56 year old black kid....would listen to it on AM during early '70's as my dad drove down the I - 95 corridor, I was the only one awake in the back seat, my mom and brother in deep sleep, all the way from NYC to Miami over 2 days! It was an inner-spiritual odyssey...but I was a child of the 'Age of Aquarius'! Heard em all! The Doors, Van Morrison, Hendrix, Animals.... I was born at the right time
Indeed. Before the song started I was excited for Kel because I kept thinking "oh just wait until she hears the beautiful orchestral movements in this.."
Personally I always enjoyed waking up in the middle of the night with this song playing. Then drifting back for the most enjoyable sleep. Happened so many times I have a personal connection to the night. 🙏🏼😷
Amen. This song is reason enough why The Moody Blues belong in the Hall of Fame. And it was awesome watching Kel’s reaction hearing this masterpiece for the first time. Kudos for doing it the right way, with stereo headphones!
They should have been in the Hall of Fame 35 years ago. But yeah they should have had this song in there to begin with. The people who got in the Hall of Fame that were and are nobody's pretty much really disgust me compared to The Moody Blues waiting what 50 years. They are the best rock and roll band of my lifetime. I am 63 years old. The thing that I find really remarkable is that as I get older I understand the lyrics better.
You can hear the passion and emotion as the singer cries out to the world his love for his special 1. It is truly a work of art. Touches a common feeling that all people long to experience.
1970 was the year that the Moody Blues changed my life... From nerdy recluse to leaving home at 16 and pitching a tent on the side of Mt. Juneau and finishing high school as an emancipated minor... Alaska toughened me to survive the cold and wind... But the music kept me warm... Actually, shivering to music was better than just shivering...
Sooo right Alan. Days through to Octave = prog rock classics. I see list of great bands, great albums and very rarely see the Moodies. The group that sang about the environment (Question lp) before it became fashionalbe. The group that sang about isolation and the need for a simpler life (7th Sojourn) before it became fashionable. Moodies again ahead of the curve.
Basically, the Moody Blues created the genre of progressive rock, yet they are consistently ignored in the lists of prog rock bands on the internet. I think perhaps they lost credibility with the move to synth-pop after Pinder left the group.
The record label didn't want to do the album because they felt, "you can't dance to it". The lead singer replied, "but you can make love to it." Then suddenly they had a record deal.
I always remembered the vocals in this song. They're insane. They used to give me chills as a small child hearing those backing vocals and wondering what hellish torture they were going through to sound like that. It's otherworldly to listen to on a cold, quiet, snowy winter night. Keep up the good work.
My brother brought them home and this was maybe late 80's or 90's, but all I knew at the time was what the local pop stations were playing and the 50's stations my parents listened to. Now, some 30 years later, this is what I remember.
Great choice, I also recommend Peak Hour, Legend of a Mind, Never Comes the Day, Have You Heard/ The Voyage and pretty much anything off the To Our Children's Children's Children which celebrates it's 50th anniversary this year.
I've just turned 66 and they were the very first concert I had ever gone to. I think I was 16. The next concert I went to was the Doors. Also saw Janis, Canned Heat, Quicksilver Messenger Service and will never ever forget my Hendrix concert. It's been a great life of music for me.
I guess I'm the young one in the room at 63. Isn't it amazing the musical journey we've taken simply growing up, growing older and hopefully wiser, with the music we loved in our youth. I saw them in Toronto in the 80s and when they finished this song they received a standing ovation that went on for at least 5 minutes. They didn’t know what to do with it. They were so taken by surprise. Such a great tune. Thanks!

I first heard this on a very low-fidelity, battery powered, record player in 1967. It's been a favorite ever since. I saw them live in the '90's, with a full orchestra, on their Red Rocks tour. Kel's reaction brought tears to my eyes, just as the live experience did. The sonic wonderment can be overwhelming.
Old guy here. The Moody Blues were huge. In 1971 grade 11 Creative Writing class in high school, my teacher made The Moody Blues album "A Question of Balance" a class project essay worth 30% of the course credit. Yes the late 60's and early 70's were that cool, the music was that great and when you finished high school you had the equivalent of a current first year college level education. I still have a playlist called The Moody Blues Best 7 Albums. Each one is a concept album. Consecutively, from "Days of the Future Passed" to "Seventh Sojourn", there is not one bad song and many outstanding ones. You can't go wrong with any song from any of them.
This is one of best love songs ever written! If this doesn't make one's heart full, there is something wrong. That moment where you laid your head on Rich's shoulder was priceless! Then when the symphonic elements slid in, the joy was Awesome!
Thank you so much for saying that. We so appreciate you watching with us and loving the music. All the best to you. Have a super night wherever you are.
This is one of the songs that causes me to think of my mum. She turns 85 in a few weeks, and over the decades we’ve seen Moody Blues live together 2x. If I have the stamina, when that day comes, I will sing this at her memorial, and hopefully others will join with me. It is a perfect song. 🖤🧡🖤
You can prefer older music without insulting newer music, especially since it seems like you haven't heard a ton of newer music. There is plenty of good stuff out there, unless all you do is listen to the radio. I personally just love good music for its own sake, and I don't see the point in dividing it by genre (or the date it came out). But you do you...
I cry nearly every time I hear this song. It's eerily beautiful. The flute just adds that little bit of renaissance sound that gives me chills. Whoever wrote it was definitely psychically connected to me. It is so one of my stories. I feel as if I could just die during the chorus. Thank you for reacting to the long play version!!!
Grew up listening to this song. Old transistor radio, an ear piece, on WGR 55 in Buffalo NY would sign off every night at 11 PM. This song would play, then the Canadian and American anthems. Learned 3 songs that way
The Moody Blues are still my favorite group of all time. The back up band for this album was the London Festival Orchestra, which is why the live recordings aren't the same. You really need to listen to the whole album.
I haven't felt love like yours since my wife passed in 1994 missed it so much you two make me cry you are so in love. I'm 59 maybe I'll feel love again someday . Bless you two.
I saw the Moody Blues in 1971. I saw them perform this song and others with Mike Pinder on his custom double keyboard Mellotron and a real double string quartet. When they did Nights in White Satin it was absolutely magnificent, majestic! We all had tears in our eyes afterwards. Nobody said a word all the way home. One of the very best concert moments in my life.
I wish people wouldn't post supposed "videos" from before the video era. This, for instance, is not a video produced in 1967-68 but something made by a fan that I think detracts from the song itself. The best reaction I've ever heard to this song was a radio deejay following it by just repeating, "Savor, savor, savor ..."
@@Moilly2 Days of Future Past didn't come out until 67 - Freak Out was in 66, so more than "just" predates. But Blonde on Blonde came out about a week before Freak Out, so THAT is the first gatefold.
I've always loved this song. I played flute while in high school, and kept at it for a while when I graduated. I told myself I would learn the solo flute part of this song, and I did. Soooo long ago, but brings back very happy memories. I shut my eyes, and just soaked it up. Thanks for doing this masterpiece!
Yes similar to my reaction when I first heard Nights in White Satin on radio Luxembourg in 1967 as a teen...Love that voice and the music is so enthralling like is that heaven and is that an angel singing....wow to that flute interlude....oh it sure is heaven...after that I bought the single....never really saw Justin Hayward until a few months later on TV...blinking heck it is an angel look at him...he looks as lovely as his voice....been hooked on the Moody Blues since.
First time I heard this album I was with a bunch of friends sitting around a table smoking pot, passing the joint around. Reminds me of good times with friends long gone. Being a teenager in the late 60’s-early 70’s was a good time to be young. I’ve always loved the Moody Blues.❤️❤️❤️
I just love Kel’s reaction! I’ve watched this video 8 times and her reaction never gets old! Love what you two are doing! You both have my most sincere appreciation! LOVE IT!
Watching Kel's reaction makes me realiz how lucky I was growing up and listeningto all of this great music when it was new, Thanks you make it new again.
That song is off of their first real album "Days of Future Passed" where they worked with an orchestra. That and their next 6 albums are pure gold. The 2-disc compilation "This Is the Moody Blues" is a great summary of those years.
This is one of, if not the greatest father's day gifts I have ever received. When I was just a little kid in the 70's, my dad didn't like much music or entertainment, but he loved The Moody Blues, and his favorite song by a mile was Nights in White Satin. He had an 8-track tape player in his car, and the only tape he had or wanted was The Moody Blues Greatest Hits. We heard it over and over for years, and it never seemed to get old for him. He passed away twenty years ago last month, and seeing someone hear this song and enjoy it so much on Father's Day just brought back so many emotions for me. Thanks so much for posting this video!!!
After hearing this on your channel I have to recommend Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds. I'm sure you've already heard Forever Autumn, but the whole album is a classic.
"Tuesday Afternoon" was the intro song at "Red Rocks" after the fantastic build up by "The Colorado Symphony Orchestra".... A fantastic and epic moment!

Saw the Moody Blues in Midland Texas around 96. They played the long version to Ninght in White Satin.outstanding live. Been listenin to them from day one. One of the great bands of all time.
It hooked me (though I didn’t discover The Moodies till 1982). Days Of Future Passed, as the title suggests is timeless. The days come and go in 2020 just the same as they did in 1967. Even though I was fifteen years down the line the music of this LP simply evokes many feelings and emotions I was experiencing as a twelve year old schoolboy. In my subconscious I feel I may have heard some of this at that time. There was so much going on musically and even your classmates would discuss the songs that appeared on Top Of The Pops the previous evening...oh what memories...thank God for the music and those who blessed us with it.
A Moodys fan since about 69. I saw them live in Charlevoix Mi. with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in the late '80s. Best concert of my life! I still get emotional listening to that piece and I'm 65.
My favorite song from my favorite album of all time. This is the most beautiful classic rock song ever. The Moody Blues, like Jethro Tull, always make me happy. THANK YOU for doing the FULL studio version! This song is absolutely MAGICAL, and Kel's reaction is just like mine every time I hear this. It transports you to paradise. It simply NEVER gets old. In fact, this song always makes me feel YOUNG! PLEASE do The Moody's NEVER COMES THE DAY and ARE YOU SITTING COMFORTABLY!
A true lover of music would seek out all forms of music. I'm surprised she wasn't even curious as to the Moody Blues music, seeing as her friends told her about them... or even hearing it on the radio..
Sunday mornings in the late 60's were never Sunday mornings until you heard the LP slipping out of the cover and the needle coming to life with 'Days of Future past' . To this day, I have all my Fathers albums on original vinyl, as I bought him them all on CD over time, he passed the originals to me, every album they brought out, held with pride of those Sunday morning wake up calls...He still does it to this day.
Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the greatest pieces of music to ever have been written in the 20th Century! (And I loved that Kel included "Silent Lucidity" among the this & "Stairway To Heaven" - that earned points with me!!) \m/
It was lovely watching you as you listened to Nights In White Satin. Totally appropriate. You gave me such a nice smile. I'm 70, and well remember when Days of Future Past came out. I played it so many times and know it all by heart. Delighted to see your response!
When I was 17 I was into bands with guitar, bass and drums. rock.. My girl was 28 and her brother was 24 and they were both big Moody Blues fans. They ook me to a Moody Blues concert in 1971 and I had tears rolling down my face when they played Nights In White Satin! I've seen them at least a dozen times since then!
Had a feeling Kel would like this one, especially the orchestrated part! This was recently featured at the beginning of the remake comedy of Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp.

I knew Kel would adore this, it has her written all over it.
At some point she should definitely listen to the whole thing.
This is one of best love songs ever written! If this doesn't make one's heart full, there is something wrong. That moment where you laid your head on Rich's shoulder was priceless! Then when the symphonic elements slid in, the joy was Awesome!
a legendary song, incredible Kel has never heard it, the song was also in movies 😎👍 nice reactions
@Celtic Revival / Adfywiad Celtaidd Oooh, good idea
You're reaction says it all. You two rock. Keep holding hands and laughing. That will always get you through the hard times.
Thank you so much for saying that. We so appreciate you watching with us and loving the music. All the best to you. Have a super night wherever you are.
Such a beautiful song! It will always be my favorite by the Moody Blues. 💕
This is one of the songs that causes me to think of my mum. She turns 85 in a few weeks, and over the decades we’ve seen Moody Blues live together 2x. If I have the stamina, when that day comes, I will sing this at her memorial, and hopefully others will join with me.
It is a perfect song.
🖤🧡🖤
Back in the day when REAL music would truly move you and take you to a whol;e new universe- without drugs.
They were literally on so many drugs back then what are you even talking about lmfaooooo. Also there is so much good music these days. Try harder.
@@revangerang drugs and music have gone hand in hand since the begining of time.
I think that maybe because the artist who gave you the music was using enough for the both of you 😅
@@jimsozrics there would be very little art music or visually if there was no mind enhancing devices
Hi from the UK, I’m glad Kel enjoyed it, it’s my mums favourite song
How much better place the world would be if we all listened to the Moody Blues on a regular basis.
Learned 3 songs that way
The Moody Blues sound as good today as they did in their heyday.
Goddamn this song gives me chills up and down my spine everytime i hear it.
This song was voted best song my senior year in high school. 1969 what a song !
I felt that way about my girlfriend then and still do . It will be 50 years in March !
So sorry for your loss 😢😢😢😢😢😢
It did make me cry a few times, I've always gotten goosebumps and still do. Just so overwhelming.
I'm 75years old this song still moves me as the first time I heard it 👍👍👍👍
I had forgotten about the spoken narrative, but as soon as it started, it all came back to me.
a ronatic song to dream and for tenderness - your looks say everything - great - great greetings from Germany
It’s such a beautiful song, greetings from London UK 🇬🇧
On the Threshold of a Dream is my favorite by them. Great entire album. Powerful song!
Fun Fact, my mum went to school with Justin Hayward.
Let’s hear some color on that...
That "video" is even computer-generated! They did not have that in 1967-68.
Days of future passed - the first concept album in rock history?
Some may think that it was, I believe others did it prior.
It and Sgt Peppers Heart Club were the first, and about the same time. So choose your favorite :)
Nope!
Actually Freak Out! by Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention just about predates them. But if anything it was the first Gatefold album.
One of the best British bands of that era in my opinion
Yes similar to my reaction when I first heard Nights in White Satin on radio Luxembourg in 1967 as a teen...Love that voice and the music is so enthralling like is that heaven and is that an angel singing....wow to that flute interlude....oh it sure is heaven...after that I bought the single....never really saw Justin Hayward until a few months later on TV...blinking heck it is an angel look at him...he looks as lovely as his voice....been hooked on the Moody Blues since.
I'm so happy you discovered them. They didn't make a few good songs. They made one great album after another. You just scratched the surface.
I am still enjoying this song in 2020 at the ripe old age of 60. It seems like just yesterday as a boy I first experienced this treasure.
LOVE IT!
OMG, when Kel laid her head on your shoulder, I knew she was really feeling it...so refreshing, so sweet, so authentic.
Catherine Leeper-Krans thank you noticing and being with us. Much love. KnR
Watching Kel's reaction makes me realiz how lucky I was growing up and listeningto all of this great music when it was new, Thanks you make it new again.
"Hauntingly beautiful" gets tossed around a lot, but this earned it.
That song is off of their first real album "Days of Future Passed" where they worked with an orchestra. That and their next 6 albums are pure gold. The 2-disc compilation "This Is the Moody Blues" is a great summary of those years.
Justin Hayward, one of the best voices ever. So distinct that no one else has sounded like him.
Love that album! Narration by Sir Richard Burton no less!
yes please do this !
40 years old and still one of the mos hauntingly beautiful songs ever written.
"Tuesday Afternoon" was the intro song at "Red Rocks" after the fantastic build up by "The Colorado Symphony Orchestra"....
A fantastic and epic moment!
Omg reminds me of being a teenager wow you really shocked me being you mentioned Woodbury Commons in Harriman i lived in Newburgh NY and I still go to Woodbury Commons ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤wow absolutely beautiful song i know live in new Paltz NY ty for sharing 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh wow! So cool to have that connection with you.
Much love

@@Kel.N.RichReactionsty I'm watching again ❤❤❤❤
Watching her reaction was worth it all day.
Saw the Moody Blues in Midland Texas around 96. They played the long version to Ninght in White Satin.outstanding live. Been listenin to them from day one. One of the great bands of all time.
How about Forever Autumn, from War of the Worlds soundtrack? Same singer.
Classic. One of the best songs in the history of mankind. Great choice in sharing this one with Kel, Rich.
Listen to the entire album DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED please. It will blow your mind!!!!
YES!!!!! i just said the same thing before seeing this!!!
"Breathe deep the gathering gloom, watch lights fade in every room."
Cold hearted orb that rules the night, removes the colors from our sight
Mike Pinder recites the poem at the end. Love that guy.
Loved the reaction, especially Kel's. So much emotion from her without saying a word.
Nice job, y'all.
takes me back to my younger years , Have been a Moodies fan been on the journey with them and it isn't over yet
A Question of Balance. The entire album.....I don’t expect a reaction to it, but Kel should experience this.
Oh my goodness her reaction is so adorable. When music hits your soul. You can just see it in her face. And see the joy it brings you watching her.
Funny how music can put into words so eloquently how the emotions we feel about eachother.
The moody blues were also from Birmingham England They are also inducted in the music hall of fame as well as Jeff Lynne And Roy Wood Of ELO .
So much emotion in this song...gets me every time...
When making music was REALLY making music. This whole album is quite an experience. It must have sounded outstanding back in 1967 !!!
It did
And it started with Tomorrow Never Knows
It even sounded great on 8 track.
One of the greatest songs ever. Love your reaction to this great love song. Saw them twice back in the day and they did not disappoint.
Had a feeling Kel would like this one, especially the orchestrated part! This was recently featured at the beginning of the remake comedy of Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp.
In 2017 they did a BLUE RAY live of the entire album. With other stuff, and it was/is amazing!!!!
