This is a song about being on the other side of unrequited love - being with somebody who loves you more than you ever could.
I started working on it a while ago, it was originally gonna be one of the singles for Good Faith but I couldn’t figure it out at the time.
I’ve played versions of it at my shows for years but recently I decided to finally share it with everybody.
This summer just felt right..
It’s a happy yet bittersweet, nostalgic song, almost like a daytime counterpoint to my last release « The Prince ».

This song’s lyrics got me actually.
I’m in long distance relationship with my boyfriend for the last 2 years. I’ll gratuade in 2 months and go to university but there is this student selection exam and I feel like I won’t pass it. And If I can’t I won’t be able to see my boyfriend for another year. It is so hard to keep a ldr when you only have a change to see each other once or twice each year.
The loneliness becomes a burden. Makes me feel wasted, but at the same time he loves me so much so I try to hold on… I hope this year can be OUR year…

@@GolfSwag42 Madeon’s vocal chain infamously has a ton of processing, so why the negative tone? He wasn’t being mean or judging the song, he was asking a simple question about the rest of Madeon’s discography. Maybe he’s new to Madeon’s music.
@@Andyblalock He has a ton of songs with super interesting and unique processing. I’d recommend giving Good Faith a listen if you haven’t already. He has a great singing voice (even live) so his vocal processing is a very deliberate and aesthetic choice rather than a necessity. Love You Back, Home, Beings, Shelter and All My Friends are probably the best examples although there is still SOME processing on his vocals.

Been listening to Madeon since Pop Culture days, following his career and everytime he puts a new song out, it's so fitting and cheerful. So many years later, and having LYB making me feel like the first days of finding out Hugo, like when Adventure dropped and Isometric came up firstly. When Shelter came out and made me cry or when Good Faith released and got so carried away by Dream x3. This is so damn emotional and so damn good. Thank you Hugo!
