    The old army test to see if a round was lethal was if it could penetrate a piece of 1/2” plywood… for an air pistol to do it through hardwood is impressive.

    What foot pound/ joules would you say is good for self defense, 5 to 10 yards?

    • @AirgunAlley
      @AirgunAlley  25 днів тому +3

      Thank YOU! It’s absolutely my pleasure!
      You ask a good question, but a hard one to answer without more specific terms or needs.
      As you know there are more and less lethal self defense tools. This specific pistol was designed to be less lethal. It will hurt a lot from 5/10 yards - but it will hardly be deadly. The GK1 on the other hand, is a lot more lethal at that distance, with well placed shots.
      Then there are the AEA guns I’ve been reviewing lately. Those are very much lethal.
      Bottom line they each release different energies from 30 to 300 FPE - it all depends on what kind of self defense you’re looking for.
      Sorry if this answer is not as straight forward as you were hoping 🙏🏽

    • @AirgunAlley
      @AirgunAlley  25 днів тому

      Good question my old friend. I’d say they are on two different levels. The Huben is much more powerful and not necessarily intended to be less lethal. That thing can really hurt.
      While Evanix purposely made this pistol to be less lethal. Thus it’s a much weaker gun.
      Now, the larger 30 cal surely makes a bigger splash. So I guess it really all depends on someone’s needs :)

    OK, did better on the gel than it did on the wood.
    Chuckle, uhm, when you measure the distance, you're shooting from, you count from the tip of the barrel, not where you're standing, but that's OK for this since you were still in normal self-defense range.
    You really need a table and some sandbags for your accuracy tests as it's impossible to tell if it's the gun or the user, well, based off of when you have used a table or something to steady your aim, accuracy and grouping really improves for you, so I would recommend doing that for consistency and to give a fair gauge of the gun's accuracy in the future.
    The one that made it to the third water jug made it because the water had drained - remember, the only time you want to constantly pound a target with one round after another is when you want to see how many shots it takes to crack a cinderblock since every successive shot is damaging and weakening the target, thus allowing successive shots to then blow through and appear to do better.
    No question it would ruin someone's day if you needed to use it for self-defense, but otherwise, for $1150...I'll stick with my Umarex Colt Peacemaker for a plinking pistol.
    Good video as always though - keep refining your technique.

    • @AirgunAlley
      @AirgunAlley  21 день тому

      Thanks Sean, as always I appreciate your great input. In all honesty I think the next step up will be once I can hire someone to help me.
      Doing this alone as a one-man-band is just too hard. I use iphones to film which constantly overheat and stop filming right in the middle of a test. So many moving parts, external elements and gear for a solo person, that it’s very, very hard to do proper quality control on everything.
      For now I let the images speak. What you see is what is happening. The slow motion should help viewers understand more clearly the dynamics of each shot.
      Again, for now this is the best I can do. But I much look forward to expanding soon and with that quality should go up as well…

    • @seanfoltz7645
      @seanfoltz7645 21 день тому

      @@AirgunAlley Not an issue - I understand the limitations of doing things solo and not necessarily having the best equipment.
      Have you considered a gopro camera or two as a lot of other UA-camrs use them and quality doesn't seem to be an issue - can't speak for how they handle Florida's sun and heat though?
      The key to successful guntubing is consistency - your targets can be as crazy and unique as you want - the trick is that you're using the same stuff over and over again so that it's always an apples to apples comparison.
      You do that well with your metal plates, spaghetti O's and other targets, so you have that right.
      The issue I was focusing on is you free handing the shots.
      I got my first gun at age 6 - a single stroke, spring powered Red Rider - I'm turning 52 this Memorial Day.
      I'm a good shot, but when I can actually rest the gun on something steady, I'm a far better shot - this is a simple fact of shooting.
      Grab a card table and some sandbags and use them to steady your aim when doing accuracy tests - remember, you want to eliminate variables and you, the shooter, is always going to be the biggest variable in the equation.
      Remember, clean and consistent results not only attract subscribers and viewers, but also sponsors - if I see someone who's free handing guns and that's causing the groups to be large, I might not send that guy my gun to show off because I don't want folks thinking that it has a six inch grouping to it.
      But if the guy is scoring nice, tight groups, well that's someone I want to show the gun off with.
      As for help wanted, I would suggest Mrs Miami, but I know she's got little ones to tend to so while she might be able to assist with backyard shoots, obviously dragging her AND the kids out to the Everglades isn't happening.
      Good luck!

    👉 TRY TO REPORT ON WHETHER THESE AIR PISTOLS HAVE AN AIR POWER REGULATOR, AND🎉 ALSO TRY TURNING THE POWER UP FROM 600fps. TO 850 fps and Even then try it at 1000fps ✅ PLUS HOW MANY SHOTS YOU CAN GET STARTING FROM EACH OF THOSE- WHILE ALSO SHOWING THE CONSISTENCY OF THE PISTOL IN KEEPING THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE THAT YOU SET- HOW MUCH DID IT FLUCTUATE BY WHEN SHOOTING AT LEAST 10 SHOTS OR MORE !!!!!!!
    POWER & LONGEVITY ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT VALUES EVERYONE LOOKS FOR, AS WELL AS THE SYSTEM NOT JAMMING! - there's plenty of reports that the new GK1 JAMS, SO IN A LIFE OR DEATH SELF DEFENSE SITUATION VS. CRIMINALS AND BIG ANIMALS- THAT IS ABSOLUTELY A DEAL BREAKER !!!!!!!
    # 1 Does it JAM?
    # 2 Power regulator ?
    # 3 power level
    consistency
    # 4 10 + shots 900fps
    and more to see how well it maintained the setting of 900fps + how many shots can it pump out @ that pressure ?
    🎉 THOSE ARE THE THINGS EVERYONE LOOKS FOR- GOING THROUGH VARIOUS TARGETS IS IRRELEVANT TO KNOWING THE FPS THAT THE SYSTEM IS RELEASING THE PELLETS AT, IT'S NOT GOOD TO KEEP USING THE TERM "FIRING" AND "FIRE" OFF A ROUND, AS THERE IS NO FIRE, IT'S NOT A FIRE-ARM !!!!!!!
