I rent a lot of cars as I travel around the country on business. I own 4 older cars but none are imports. Last week I rented a Subaru Impreza. I was very impressed! The technology packed into that car is simply amazing. I'm a gadget freak so I had a lot of fun playing around with all the eye-sight features. My favorite is the cruise control. I was driving on Portland Oregon freeways. The cruise control kept the following distance perfectly. It even applied the brakes to a full stop. I didn't trust it at first and I kept my foot over the brake pedal but never actually applied the brakes.
My newest car is a 2003 Corvette. I now realize how much technology has progressed since then.

Good video on the details. I drive a 2016 Outback with eyesight. Believe me, it works when cars stop in front or turn slowly in front of you. Or real world, last week when a car crossed 2 lanes of stopped traffic and into my lane. my car was going 45mph and the ES function warned red then car came to an abrupt stop. Not sure if my reflex would have caught the car in time to allow me to hit brake and swerve. ES did it's job!
Lessons learned....key the chimes and lights on.

I can't thank you enough for this video. There are some situations where Eyesight is just a pain to have on and this real world use video is so helpful!

Very helpful video. I drive a 2015 Outback. The lane departure warning is a bit obtrusive. It is nice to be able to turn it down or off. My vehicle does not have the Cruise Control Acceleration Characteristics adjustment settings. The speed adjustments are rather jerky. It would be great to be able to change the settings to smooth them out. It is unfortunate that Subaru does not provide software updates for all vehicles in the same generation.

The lead vehicle acquisition sound should actually turn on/off the beep when a car exits/enters in front of you while the adaptive cruise control is on.

Does having the manual option mean that I for sure have a CVT transmission? Or does the regular automatic transmission also come with paddles. It’s a 2011 outback

Is there a way to make the cruise control on my 2018 Forester touring have the same hold feature as my 2016 Outback after coming to a stop by eyesight? Currently it stops and then turns off the cruise and starts to roll towards the car in front.

I'd like to know why the automatic headlights on my 2020 forester can't tell the difference between porch lights or roadside reflectors and headlights... Sometimes it looks like I'm going down the road just flashing my high beams for no reason

Have a 17 Outback and love it. Only complaint is when using ACC is when a vehicle enters your" eyesight" it beeps and the icon of the lead vehicle appears... no problem , But when it disappears, it beeps again. Dont see the need for that second beep. Is annoying. A vehicle leaving your "sight" is not a danger. So why the beep?

You have to find 3:30 to see demo for the Outback. Please let us know in the desc, or publish separate videos.

Hi Brendan, good video. You go through it a little too quickly. I am older and I felt you rushed it. Thanks Bob. 5 Subaru legacy over 25 years. Current one 2017 and very pleased with it. The bigger wheels are an improvement and eyesight is awesome.

All the new technology is great but what a pain in the ass. We have a 2019 Outback with all the bells and whistles. I've never had a car where I have to look at the owners manual at least once a month or so. Settings work fine for a while but then like any computer, they don't.

Yes, you just have to make sure it doesn't block the Eyesight camera. I have mine suction cupped to the windshield just below the passenger side camera.

forgot to mention what I hate the most - the new belts on this car (transmission) are much shorter, making stopping and starting more jerky than before.

I really hat my subaru (2019) imprezza - the computer wants to drive itself, it actually starts steering itself when I go around a curve. Notice that you can't turn the damn sounds (of eyesight) all the way off. My last three cars were Subarus but the ONLY good thing about this stupid corporation is it's love of dogs.
