Thank you for the great review. I'm going with the Rocky Talkie because it looks like the best simple to use GMRS radio for my geocaching and rock collecting adventures. It even has my name on it! The USB C charging port is also a nice feature along with the ability to use an external antenna while in a vehicle. Just hope the 9 people on the monitor behind you will approve of my decision to get the Rocky Talkie.

Something that I find quite refreshing is the type of organic balance in the comments. The “some people” comment on your video and the comments of the Happy Followers of The Queen. …my stubble that grows while expecting intelligence is quite sexy, if I may say so myself. The Queen’s people get as much of a laugh from “some people” taunting them as they do from your Majesty’s vignettes. They enjoy feigning “the smartest one in the room” act, and we are strong enough to handle the pebble throwing. It is a beautiful dynamic. ❤👍🏽
Tasteful. Yes indeed. And sophisticated. None of that bathroom humor that all those rich/famous comedians do on their multimillion dollar netflix specials. Randy is too highbrow for that.
That silly charging dock pretty much sealed the deal for me! Rock Talkie it is! However, I’m probably going to wait for a sale as I’m planning to purchase a set!
I think that all radios should have a type c charging port instead of those huge charging cradle... Most of the new radios are including type c. Makes me wonder why Midland choses not to add a type c charger. I am to the point that I always look for radios that have type c charging.
Speaking of "Adventure Radio," I want to try out one of those K plug Bluetooth devices on my UV-5R to pair with my Cardo Edge motorcycle helmet Bluetooth. My son and I will have about a 2 mile range on the road.
As mentioned in my full-review video of the Midland, yes, it is. BUT - if this is what matters to you in an adventure radio, then it is probably not the radio for you.
Thank You for publishing another video. I enjoyed the last one, and I kind of like the idea or concept of the 2-watt mountain version, that does not require a license of any kind. Some folks seem to enjoy calling "licenses" "the king's seals". Anyway, I have just begun to watch the video, and I wanted to post my initial thoughts. _John_ (-,-)
Ah, the term "permission slip" that you used in the video, is also very appropriate and fitting as well. Maybe those permission slips. or applications, would fit up and fill their mail slots? I remember your video quite well, when you covered that the fees are collected in order to fund the fee collection efforts. :) _John_ (-.-)
I was hoping you could provide a recommendation for me. I am lost in the number of videos and websites with many many different options for walkie talkies. We use walkie talkies mainly with our kids when they head out in the neighborhood or to a friends house as we aren’t into kids having cell phones lol. I basically need a set that I can actually hear my kids without a lot of static when they are less than a mile away but there are houses in the way. Also budget version. Not the 300$ version. And please no license needed. My brain is exhausted trying to find the right option. PLEASE HELP!
a $300 GMRS radio has the EXACT SAME FARS as a $25 GMRS radio, so get a $25-$30 one and see what happens.. Whether or not there is static depends on what is between you and the other radio, and the only way to know if it will be static'ee or not, is to try it.
I'm sure that both radios will perform just fine depending on the type of activity the users plan to use them for. However, I do think the Midland GXT 67PRO would be more favorable from its housing and with the name Midland, you know you're dealing with well-known Radio Manufacture that has a good reputation in the 11m/CB / Part 95D territory. The Rocky Talkie looks like a shoulder speaker/mic with antenna, instead of the actual radio.
Never going to pack a cradle while traveling, backpacking, hiking, etc. Midland’s fatal flaw. A simple usb-c port allows on the go charging on the Rocky Talkie.
err, what's a "miller amp"? I'm hoping it's just your own "cute" way to refer to milliamps... EDIT: I have now watched several of your videos and have caught on to your humor (yes, sometimes I can be a little slow on the uptake, lol). I've also subscribed as I love your thoroughness as well as your humor! 😁
Randy Thank you for all the tests that you perform on the radios. But. You continue to forget to do an important test. I want to know which one would make my butt look big while wearing it on my belt. The “big butt” test is a deal breaker for which radio to purchase for many people.
@TheNotaRubicon I'm looking for a GMRS like the Rocky Talkie 5-Watt but with Blue tooth headset and PTT functionality like the Oxbow Renegade X (FRS). Any suggestions?
FRS channels and GMRS channels are exactly the same, the only (significant) difference is how much power the radio puts out. So, yes, both can talk on all FRS/GMRS channels
@@TheNotaRubicon thanks. I figured that out by watching your other videos on the two. Ultimately went with the rocky talkie 5w. Just seemed easier to use for simple and fast communication when I’m getting my buddy to yeet his rig down a gully or crevice.
Why can’t you just get to the point?
Because someone told me that the longer i ramble on the more low-IQ people will leave stupid comments whining about not getting to the point. Do you think it's working?
The real question is, did someone put a gun to your head and force you to watch the entire video?

As a licensed ham radio operator I only watch your videos because it entertains me to image how much sadder you make the sad hams :)
There really is no conflict between Ham and GMRS. I have both licenses and know several folks who likewise do. They are both useful hobbies and services.
Just possession of a ham license shrinks penis size by 85 percent and gives you a lifetime case of verbal flatulence.
Midland has more buttons so it must be more better.
rugged radio's have no dum buttons.
and there are two coded channels for each channel plus the open channel
nothing to do pick a channel add op 1 or 2 and go
Maybe I'm just getting old but these days I can't imagine having to deal with all sorts of cables, docks, and chargers and not just having USB-C.
Well who would disagree with that, besides those selling proprietary, unique docking stations and cables.

The water test for the radios has me in tears! Thanks Randy.
I loved it and it's so factual what I would probably do
Thank god no floaters.
Brilliant!
I’m sharing this with a group who will have no idea why I’m showing them radios but when they’re done they will know.
They’ll know.
They only know the word "adventure" only when paired with "Bill and Ted's Excellent"?
We finally agree on something. You ARE the Queen of all GMRS.
To funny! 🤣
Thanks. I was facing this decision Sunday and ordered the Rocky Talkie.
Maybe try The Loggy-Talkie ... it survives the immersion test better.
