Unreal. This evokes all kinds of familiar and nostalgic indie / punk / garage sensibilities for me while, like so much else of Amon's music, sounding completely new and alien at the same time. And to think there's not an 'instrument' in the traditional sense anywhere near OCT is mind-boggling. You could play this to a friend and tell them it's a rock band and they'd probably just assume that anything that catches the ear wrong as not sounding like an instrument being played was manipulation after the fact performed in the studio, but that the tracks were laid down as normal by the drummer, guitarist etc. I think it would almost be a gimmick or a talking point / selling point that the music was created electronically if any other electronic artist were to be putting out music that sounds like this (I dunno, are they? I doubt it though!), but for Amon it's just how he works and creates music and another frontier to venture into and learn. It's just so great. Like, you can pause and appreciate the craft and inventiveness behind it, and if you're an electronic musician (I'm not) then I imagine you might be spending a lot of the time mind-blown and trying to think how certain sounds might have been created. OR you can just rock the fuck out to the groove as you would any other rock song. Man. So looking forward to seeing where this project goes next!
@@NMROSTA Thanks. I've been listening again today and I'm enjoying it even more now. The sense of energy and attack, and the care given to the dynamics and the sort of looseness and immediacy of everything while containing so much tension... it's very difficult to visualise one chap sitting in a chair in his studio painstakingly synthesizing everything. And yet so easy to imagine a group of 20-somethings jumping around and bumping into each other in their parent's garage. I feel like this is truly innovative and challenging music -- how you can't help but reassess what you thought was possible within a genre / instrumentation. That's nothing new for Amon though, of course!
I guess if Only Child Tyrant ever gets to play on a rock festival it'll probably look like one of these notorious Kraftwerk concerts with those creepy robots on stage 😁🙏
Awesome!! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🙂😊🤪
I had no idea this was Amon tbh

The guitar doesn't sound real to me. Unreal is right!
tbh it sounds a lot like smth from a real band
This is the uncanny valley of rock music - sick af

You nailed it, that is indeed perfect.

Indie rock Amon ❤️❤️
Amon Tobin, an avant-garde IDM/"acquired taste" musician, making better punk music than I've ever heard 🤣
A true artist ❤
This is fooking dope!
How he continually stays beyond the curve is a feat in itself. Thanks for the music Mr Tobin.
GREAT-MANY-FACED-ENTITY-HAS-SPOKEN-AGAIN
I mean, at this point Amon kinda have to write a symphony as well :P
I wouldn't exclude the possibility
Play the song at .25 (ok .5 speed) the arrangements are basically symphonic
@@mystereebouldegom5646 you're right... we obviously intended classical music played by an orchestra :)
I know it’s not the same thing, but I think I saw a video awhile ago of an orchestra playing a version of at the end of the day
@@koolkitty108 it's the same "field"...and I always remember Aphex Twin's (kickass) violin solo...
For Amon everything is a keyboard, a switch or a knob.
