Teen Titans Go is that one ex who constantly tries to remind you how much better their life is without you, despite the fact that you could not give less of a shit anymore.
@JustACommenter Well and leaving comments, I guess. Anyway, I actually don't care that much about TTG. I am just surprised that people are hating on it so much. But I think it's due to a sentimentalized view of the TT original.
Watching this video makes me think that Teen Titians Go is a lot like Family Guy. Both shows know they're awful and makes things that are design to frustrate & alienate the audience but the writers are too apathetic to change.
@@alienboy1322 In a weird way it really does show that it doesn't matter what your target audiences age is. If it's well written it's a good show and people will praise it as such. If it's lazy and bandwagons off of fan animosity then it sucks but still gets a lot of viewers who aren't picky and might just need background noise. Family Guy and TTG just really don't care but shows like Primal and Kid Cosmic always want the audience to be invested in it's characters and it's why you never see people complaining about them.
@@alienboy1322 I literally made a post on Tumblr on something similar you just said. And I mentioned how Final Space and The Owl House got canceled undeservingly.
@@alienboy1322 Don't know, I sort of liked the idea. Bitching on the audience instead of kissing their feet. Like watching two people argue, it keeps me entertained.
This show gets TWO movies and still airs after seven years. Then Infinity Train carries a mass of viewers, trend on Twitter, practically saves their streaming services...it only lasted two years, cancelled abruptly just before its first and only movie...some weird shit is going on at Warner, and I'm afraid.
@Justin Stewart Agreed, the only reason I even bothered to check in on it was due to a youtube video about the pilot episode. I swear, who ever was handling that show had their heads up their asses. It was amazing up until the end of season one, then everything dropped off. It's like the bad future version of Moral Orel.
What actually annoys me is how these writers can actually do good writing. They can do emotions and action and good entertainment: but they actively choose not to, in favour of being petty. It's annoying to say the least.
The Community: literally doesn't care about Teen Titans Go, haven't mentioned it in years, discourse is dead Teen Titans Go Staff: "Stop hating on us you guys, look, you're being stupid haha, we're amazing"
Seriously, I'm a Diehard Ben Classic 10 fan so I'm kind of okay with a show "not the way we exactly wanted them to." You don't see us Ben 10 fans writing petitions
My step sister was a TTG fan who never watched the original series. I was made to watch an episode of Go that didn't entertain me. I had her watch the first episode of the old series and she dropped TTG on the basis of Robin's character being better in than in Go.
My cousin said she didn’t like the original Teen Titans, and when I first watched TTG I literally didn’t like it. Yet I prefer the Old version of Teen Titans.
The point I got from these shows: we make a kids show aimed at and insulting adults. They make these shows not so much to entertain kids, but to insult fans. They got what they wanted and are still angry that the fans exist
It's not about insults though. You have to watch the show more to see how good it is. They even did a crossover with Freakazoid that's surprisingly good. Anybody that seen a few clips from the original Freakazoid would know how good the character himself was in the original and still handled well in the crossover. Even the crisiswith the D.C. Super Hero Girls and another with the Scooby Gang were actually good.
I guess that explained why Illumination Studios got so many hated for being juvenile and bland to the point that the adults are easily getting offended by said juvenile while children laughs at something stupid. I do understand. At least for TTG, the closest thing we've got to adult humor in the show is Beast Boy sprayed the Justice Leagues with cows "milk" and it's pretty hilarious I'm not gonna lie.
@@ElectroBlastLuigi I'm sorry but Teen Titan Go (parody) aspect missed so much. Comedy needed to have some beat, well-executed, and fit with the character. Heck, why parody anime like Gintama, Konosuba and Isekai Quartet worked so well? Because the comedy has chemistry and the characters are very diverse in term of personality. A parody should make you love all of the casts, not make you despite them. Heck, even the Teen Titan chibi short did a better job because they are still in characters. Teen Titan Go main cast are all basically the same. They are all clowns with the same personality. It may works once but you are making the same joke for over 4 years? I'm sorry, I would take Taka-tin (A Hulk Hogan parody) from Gintama over this shit.
The most important part of Teen Titans Go is that they never finished Teen Titans Original. The change wouldn't have been as bad for me if they finished the original show
Remember when they blue-balled us with that mid-credits tease at the end of the TTG movie saying the original Titans were coming back only to crush our hopes by revealing it was just for a TTG crossover film?
@@GamerSlyRatchet1 Actually, the creators had a whole season planned before they found out they were getting canceled. The season that got canceled was going to tie up a lot of loose ends and plot holes, while diving more into the other TT group, along with the tease of Slade still being around, the whole thing with Terra ((Which kind of got some sort of closure?? with the OG Teen Titans Go comics )) and a lot more, even some relationships were going to get planned out since the older peeps in the group are adults at that point. I've had a couple of friends who were able to meet the OG TT creators/writers in the past who were told this to there face, and the creators also spoke about it a few times on the internet ages ago on some Teen Titans forum that is no longer around or archived. The same with the real reason why it was canceled, which no surprisingly back than it was canceled because the toys weren't selling enough ((Though as a kid back then, I don't know what toys they were trying to sell, there was nothing at any store )) and that the person who was running CN back in the day was upset that the majority who watched Teen Titans were girls. Of course, take this with a grain of salt since I don't have any sources to back it up. (( Links lost, friends videos no longer around thanks to skypes weird issues. Or just lose of friends and even websites.))
It's sad but I think that we need to give the show closure ourselves and accept that it's over and there is no way of bringing it back I know that it's hard but life gets better when you stop focusing in the unwinnable battles and start fighting the ones that are worthwhile
Wait a moment, in Return of Slade they attacked adult who criticize the show saying they shouldn't care about it because it's a kid show. And now they attack the argument that say, "It's just for kids" isn't a reason for a show to be bad. I think they just said their show is bad.
I think they just keep making critic/hater call out episodes of varying flavors to keep hype up- basically the more of these episodes they make, the more people will talk about the show and make videos about it- really TTG and its writers are just scared about being forgotten or ignored, and its sad how the only way they can think of to fight that is to play into the only interesting thing about it- the hate and their self referential treatment of said hate. At least that is what the episodes like this became.
So in conclusion, Teen Titans Go has been repeatedly mocking older audiences for not liking it for 7 years straight. It may have been funny at first (Depending on who you ask) but, after over 200 episodes, it gets really, really, really old. Yes, I KNOW very well it's a kids show, but still, this can't go on forever.
the fact that its a kids show honestly works against the whole "dissing people for not liking their shitty show" thing, because their audience of 6 year olds dont know what they are talking about.. though with the amount of times they just randomly explain economy I doubt they even care at this point..
Jesus Christ, I just realized that this show has more episodes than Danny Phantom, Kim Possible, and the original Teen Titans combined, I don’t want to live on this planet anymore
@@ronstoppable5659 At least Kim Possible ended on an epic ass note and had an awesome run. Can't really say the same for TTG and Danny Phantom. ESPECIALLY Danny Phantom. I still consider Phantom Planet not cannon in my head, that was so, so bad...
Considering they make so many "hater call out" episodes, it seems the people making TTG are very insecure. I watched the show up to a few episodes of season three before I finally gave up. For awhile aftetwards, I hated how this show kept going and that it even got TWO movies. Nowadays, I still ignore the show, but it's not worth the energy getting worked up about it anymore. It's a thing that exists at least for now. If the creators want to keep badly defending themselves against criticism instead of being proud that they've lasted even longer than the original Titans, that's their problem.
Naah. I think they make the call out episodes to make fun of situation. Like a comedian that makes fun of themself. Its pretty genius if you ask me, not many kids shows are that self aware to the people(as in real people/media) and actually implement it in their episodes and make plots around it, adult cartoons do this all the time though. Just a neat thought.
@@Thevamp1reking Their "craft" is basically a parody of a beloved show, I don't think it's bad, but I understand why fans would hate on it, not to mention it portrays the characters as, unlikable jerks.
As someone who grew up with Avatar: The Last Air bender, One thing I know for certain is that all "It's for kids" excuses to defend and make a kids show are bullshit. Avatar: The Last Air bender holds up as an adult because it had effort put into it and it didn't crutch itself with the bullshit "It's for kids" excuses. A show aimed at kids is not automatically a bad thing, it only becomes a bad thing when it's creators uses bullshit "It's for kids" excuses like Teen Titans Go. The Netflix show Hilda is a kids show, but since the creators of Hilda put effort into the show and didn't use bullshit "It's for kids" excuses, I'm certain the kids that grew up on it will still say it's good when there adults. And I'm defiantly certain that most kids that grew up on Teen Titans go will not look back on it fondly.
I'm gonna go ahead and make the counterargument that stupid shows have as much right to exist as intelligent ones. Some kids like smart shows and some like stupid shows, there should be something for everyone. The only thing I have against TTG is that it takes up too many timeslots which disrupts the balance of stupidity and intelligence. And I know the reason CN does it is because of money. I wonder if the creators of TTG are in some way feeling guilty about this, and that's why they are so bitter and defensive. TTG is basically just a cash cow and they know it. I think that their current audience likely going going to realize this when they grow up and thats where the jealousy is coming from. Because the original Teen Titans was beloved by kids and respected by those kids as adults, while TTG will age like milk. Pop culture references are its bread and butter now, but will invoke cringe as it ages and the animation will become more outdated. While shows like Avatar and the original Teen Titans are mostly timeless.
I think it's safe to assume that if Teen Titans Go has a crossover with another reboot the reboot in this case being Thundercats is probably doing badly.
So let me get this straight. This show: A) is on it’s eighth year. B) successfully outlived the original series. C) has two films. D) continues to be CN’s top-rated show. And still continues to throw potshots at the haters, even knowing that their outrage is too insignificant to actually hurt the show. Hate to break it to you, writers, but YOU’RE INSECURE, not us...
I saw a comment the basically said we use the show as a comparison for the most part like "Oh god not another TTG" or "This makes TTG look like *insert good show* We honestly don't even care anymore the hate has gotten so stale and younger audiences wouldn't even understand MY 2 YEAR OLD SISTER WATCHED THE SHOW That just shows how young the audience is for them the jokes would go over their heads and the people who preciously hated the show just ignore it at this point

Hilda and Bojack Horseman are also really good animated shows on Netflix they seem to be the most recommended on that platform...
You know what Teen Titans Go has in common with PowerPuff Girls 2016 and Thundercats Roar? TTG did crossover episodes with both shows... and yet, the latter shows wound up getting canceled, anyway.
The fact that Teen Titans Go is the only Cartoon Network reboot still on air really disturbs me. (I know Teen Titans isn't technically a Cartoon Network original show, but still)
@@disneyvillainsfan1666 i actually feel like one day cartoon network will try to erase every show that previously aired's presences/references and the only thing that is going to be left is teen titans go
The really funny thing here is that Thundercats Roar was canceled last year. Due to low ratings and generally NO ONE wanted it. Also I thought Tara Strong retired
Something i need to talk about with the Teens Titans Go and Thundercats crossover that just makes that whole episode a whole lot worse. at the end of that episode they have that whole "Thundercats Roar is a worthy successor thing" and then shortly after we see Snarf from OG thundercats and Liono from the 2011 series. and in the corner you see THE ROTTING CORPSE OF PANTHRO FROM THE OG SHOW! "But why?" you may ask, it's most likely because his voice actor died in 2017. this "Joke" if you even want to call it that comes off as just disrespectful to the actor who died and makes this episode WORSE. And i cannot in ANY way see that being a "Tribute" either, and if that WAS a tribute, then that is a fucking horrible tribute.
Okay that thing about Panthro's VA is super disrespectful, there's literally no way around it. Seriously, there just isn't a single way to make that visual "gag" work without coming off as massive fucking tools who are willing to literally disrespect the death of a person for the sake of a joke that like 99% of viewers will never understand
Roar adding in Panthro's corpse is, in my opinion, a sign that the show creators were actively malicious. It would be one thing if it was a different character who's VA was still alive, but they actively chose a character who's actor had died, somewhat recently, especially depending on when the crossover was being produced. It really feels like Roar wasn't made by people who wanted to make a good or fun show. It feels like it was made by people who wanted to hurt fans of the original for not transplanting Roar as "Better than the original" immediately. "What's that, you aren't going to adore our show the moment it's announced? We'll make you pay!" I don't say it often, but thank god it got cancelled after one season.
Tbh when this show started out it was pretty okay. I hadn’t watched the OG TT, so I derived some enjoyment from this show. But the bitter and overall just negative energy of the show slowly made me die inside as it went on throughout the years. The Titans and the humour have become so spiteful and sour that the show is just so... soulless? Like it’s more worried about spiting the criticism it receives and mocking its audience rather than delivering entertaining and fun content for its viewers. Also they used a kid who just wanted to be on his favourite show as part of his wish from MAW as criticism fodder and didn’t even give him his wish of being a VA. That just made me lose all respect for the TTG team. Not Tara and the other VAs tho. They didn’t decide to do that.
They are runing put of ideas, the show was propeled to network domination by the buzz generated by the hate, so at least know that they are in borrowed time trying desperetely to cach lightning on a botle for a second time but instead of the ecosistem for a perfect hatestorm nowadays is clear skys of apaty.
I agree with your first paragraph. I did watch the OG TT and I had no problem with them doing a comedy version of TT. While I did enjoyed watching the early seasons of TTG I don’t like that the later seasons has turned all of them into stubborn, rude assholes.
I despise this show, the writers come off as more and more petty so I just ignore it. Instead of improving your show based off of what actual titans fans want, you just insult them and hide behind dumb excuses. Shows “just for kids” don’t need to be dumbed down, they just come off as lazy and petty.
The thing i feel like people miss with this kinda discussion is the fact Teen Titans didn't get to finish with a conclusion, Tundercats 2011 was cancelled after 1 season (and no, it didn't get poor ratings, it was cancelled because CN opted for legends of cima as it would be cheaper). So you have two reboots of loved IP's that go out of their way to dunk on fans of these unfinished shows. Which i feel like if their favorite show was cut short and a parody reboot was made before it got a chance to finish, wouldn't you be upset?
I love Legends of China, but I’m sad to hear that another Tv show had to disappear for it to come. I am really sorry Thundercats fans. (I’ve never watched Thundercats before btw, but it seems good)
There is also a lot of evidence of schedule tampering, deliberately moving new and rerun episode airtime around multiple times and almost all into Death Spots reserved for shows on their way to the chopping block. I noticed this when it was happening when one day they just didn't have a new episode out like mid-season and then weeks later I was scrolling around for something else and learned it was airing still on a new day and time, which was changed again in like a week.
Bruh. I'm 14 now and two to three years ago when I was 10-11 I used to love this show- I came back to it for nostalgia and now I've realized how overly sexual they are for a kids show. I get the occasional adult joke but goddang- so much stuff that just ruined my childhood xD.
I think I finally realized why the characters being so Unlikable was a problem to me Teen titans go is pretty much a slice of life which means that it HEAVILY relies on character interaction That’s the problem I’ve had with teen titans go. The characters are so unlikable. And it’s not even a charming unlikable There’s barely charm to the characters. They’ve become in charming unlikable brats for the most part (with episodic exceptions) which doesn’t always make a good slice of life There are the occasional episodes where the characters aren’t bad. Like every episode that stars cyborg and jinx.
Which makes it even stranger that the Roar characters are less of that but got cancelled so soon after this episode where they make a point of Starfire, the mouthpiece for a reasonable person, called them charming in first viewing...like, if TTG was making Roar a direct parallel to their own show, they clearly haven't been watching their own episodes 😳
As someone who HAS watched the show, you're right! The characters are so unlikable, I legitimately feel bad for Robin being the punching bag of the series when he's been the most mature, responsible, and reasonable of the Titans and he ends up getting bullied or beaten. The characters in general are just selfish assholes.
The Cyborg and Jinx episodes were actually pretty cute and wholesome, along with some Raven and BeastBoy. Like some episodes BeastBoy would compliment Raven or say something nice about her and she would blush and smile. Kinda wish it were the same for Robin and Starfire. They were a cute ship in the OG series, but apparently not in TTG
@@poweroffriendship2.0 Thank you for reminding me! I used to watch the 2011 Thundercats on DVD at my friends house when I was about 8. Sad that kids today gotta watch all these mind numbing shows.
What surprises me is that, in all of these 7 years, they never thought of producing a yearly 'special' episode (like The Simpsons' _Treehouse of Horror_ series) of 22 minutes featuring the TT in a more serious artstyle and thematic _just to give picky fans a white-gloved slap._ "Oh yeah, we can totally produce something more serious and complex, but we choose to have fun", that would be the message they would've sent by doing that. But instead, by whining, mocking viewers and fans and dodging criticism, _they're showing everyone they never really got what the Teen Titans were all about._
Another issue with these “attack the critics” episodes is that they’re often instantly outdated. For example, that Thundercats Roar controversy episode aired two years after the initial controversy, and the Dora the Explorer like episode aired well after Dora lost relevance. In fact, fake interactivity in little kids shows has been decreasing majorly in the past decade.
"Attack the critics" episodes also tend to be massive deflections created for the purpose of saving the creators' feelings instead of actually addressing and beginning to work towards bettering their product
Dora actually is still relevant. Nick still shows reruns and its getting a reboot. Also its one of the most iconic baby shows. It lasted 20 years. That was a really funny episode and it didn't even bash the critics.

What I liked about the original Teen Titans, was that it didn't talk down to me, it didn't honk it's nose at me, it felt like a grown up show that I get to watch. I GET that as an adult TTG isn't for me. But at the same time, I can't watch it with the kids in my life at any remote level and connect with it as anything more than noise meant to distract children.
Saddest thing in my case is that I didn't hate TTG right off the bat. Didn't love it, but didn't hate it. I actually watched some of season 1 and the show itself made me hate it. I grew up with both OG PPG and TT and gave both reboots chances and they spat in my face. Never again
Same, but don't let these horrible reboots sour all reboots. There are good reboots out there. The TMNT has had more good reboots than bad, and the new DuckTales reboot is good, and supposedly is going to be followed up by a Darkwing Duck reboot by the same people. They've already done what appears to be a pilot episode, and it is fantastic. Batman has had a lot of incarnations in animation, and most of them are decent.
I wonder how the voice actors even deal with this and how they feel about having to say what’s on the script of this show’s episodes. I just want to hear their opinions on TTG at this point
TTG is such a cynical show. It knows it's dumb. It knows fans of the original show hate it. And it doesn't care, because CN keeps throwing all the money in the world at it. Because it's cheap to animate and simple to write, and they can run all day marathons of it with zero effort and max return on profit. It's the modern day Johnny Test. The minimum work CN needs to input in order to string kids from commercial break to commercial break.
This is the most accurate description for this show I've ever seen. The creators are just sitting on their asses and doing the bare minimum because children will watch anything as long as it entertains them.
Amazing world of gumball is the better cynical show -original characters -humor isn’t abundantly random but varied -mix media animation -smarter writing - didn’t fail to prove itself by wasting time on criticism
I simply just didn't like TTG because of their bitterness towards people who don't like it. And I'm not sure who to really pass the blame. I could call it a day and say a quick 'fuck you' towards the VA but I don't think they're the issue, instead it's likely the writers or producers, etc. But yeah, just... Don't like how bitter and how much of an asshole they are being towards some people.
The creators of thundercats roar are the same as ttg. In the roar promo you get a good look at what they look like, and as of late people are good at adhering to stereotypes
Theres a reason for the bitterness though. People were being rude assholes simply because TTG wasn't like the original TT when it was never meant to be and so they hated it just for that.
For me whether a reboot is good comes down mostly to the portrayal of the characters. In my opinion, when someone makes a character, they make, y'know, a character. Something with distinct personality traits, and if it's a good character, their own logic, morals, experiences, and all that. What that original creator made, that's the character. To me, when these shows take existing characters, but completely change their personalities, that's insulting to the original creator. They take something that someone spent years developing, that millions of people loved, and then they toss out everything but the name and general design, to the point where it's essentially a different character but with a name you know to make you watch. To me, it's no better than outright plagiarism. And then Teen Titans Go not only does all that but also makes fun of people who think that's not cool? Fuck those guys.
Honestly, it's these "critic response" episodes of TTG that turn me away from the show. Not as in a "grr I hate this show grr" but seeing so many of them killed my interest in the show even if I wanted to give it a fair chance. Seeing them be this bitter for seven years is exhausting at this point.
It was the schedule clog for me. I was totally willing to ignore it, too, and then the constant marathons started happening to the point where I started loathing when it came on or actively tried to avoid it.
If it was just one or two of those episodes, that wouldn't be bad, but it feels like half of the show is just that. It's like an online troll repeating the same sentence throughout the comment section.
I was a fan of TT in middle school when it initially aired, and I gave TTG a chance. I genuinely laughed at some of the jokes, but got tired of these guys not letting go of their bitterness. If they enjoy making their show, why should they care what a bunch of 25-35 year old TT fans think? Just make what you want and keep on trucking.
Imagine being on top of the pile for almost a decade and being so obsessed with criticism that you throw another show under the bus before it even debuts.
I mean beast boy talking in animal form is more comic accurate than the original but teen Titans go is still dumb. Especially when they made fun of them being serious. Like they were silly in the original too don’t forget. we mean they weren’t silly ALL THE TIME😂

That episode actually could have been kinda funny. I would have had the episode start with the Titans being excited about the reboot but they quickly get worried that it will suck. I remember that show before. This feels like a hybrid of 1960s Adam West Batman and the Animated Series Batman. A lot of people said that Batman is always dark, serious, and morbid but he's not like that always. He can be funny in a deadpan manner but his campy side makes him more interesting. The closest thing we've got to a comedic and campy modern Batman is LEGO Batman.
The ironic thing about TTG and TCR, is even though their artstyle and designs are pretty unappealing(to me at least), I've watched shows like Adventure Time and T.K.O. and enjoyed every bit of them. So, it really just comes down the the writing, characters, and juvenile humor they have in those shows. Like, TTG have some funny/good episodes, I can't deny that, but I still hate it overall; and TCR just hurts my eyes to watch. I really hate whenever CN does reboots of established good shows they end up ruining them for the sake of making them "for kids". Original Ben 10 was for kids, same for PPG, Teen Titans, and even Thunder Cats; I hate hate HATE that excuse why these shows are the way they are is because "it's for kids". Please, I was a kid and I enjoyed every bit of shows like Kids Next Door, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd n Eddy, etc etc. These shows were written fantastically, and each episode told their own fun, engaging story, and never felt like they were insulting the intelligence of their core audience: Children. If this is the crap kids like to watch nowadays, I'm glad I was born in the Golden Age of CN, because they're missing out. Of course, they do have gems like TKO, Amazing World of Gumball, Craig of the Creek, but I don't think we'll ever get great shows like we had back in the Golden Age of CN.
To almost everyone you mean. The artstyle is just cheap. Did you see that guy with longer arms than Luffy when punching? Or the screen being totally static when the characters were moving? That's "Hotel Mario" levels of animation.
I know I’m late for this but kid themselves have said they don’t like what “for kids” because it’s just becoming dum and dumber so even with that kids still watch a lot of old shows and the new ones like owl house and infinity train because they like it a know a lot of kids that likes TTG but they started to hate it (these kids were like 6-9) because of how annoying the characters got
Thing is about the shows we see that become timeless and age well, those don't lean heavily on what's "hip" on mainstream media. They're not doing their best to cram popular culture into their shows, they're making something that's completely different and a culture in it's own right. TTG relies so much on today's culture that the only reason why it's still running to this day is because they constantly have to change a narrative to fit the culture today's kids portray.
Here's the dumbest part about these kinds of episodes. They know the people they are making fun of hate the show, they know that they don't watch the show. As the shows has made it abundantly clear multiple times, the it is made for kids. So who are these kinds of shows for? Kids who likely don't even get who don't even get who is being mocked? At best you could say these episodes exist for the purpose of being shared online so that the "haters" can see them. At worst it's a frankly childish venting to people who don't even know what they are venting about. I also love how Raven makes the "kids are smarter than you think" argument as if that is somehow wrong. Like are the writers actively saying that the kids who they make the show for are dumb and will watch just about anything? Because that's basically what it sounds like.
Yeah, saying implicitely "Kids are dumb" reminds me to another franchise "for kids" i also despise in the last few years, who is also directed by persons who disrespect their older fans.
If you pay attention to certain episodes, you’ll see that the Titans will make criticisms about other shows or forms of media. However, these criticisms are exactly what’s wrong with THEIR show.
Imagine an episode where the Titans actually try to make a show. They tried to make their own movie once, and it was a bust. A nationally broadcast television program? Break all TVs. NOW.
When you have series like this - it's also based on nostalgia for older audiences. Even with shows like Scooby Doo depend on nostalgia even when the age range of their targetted demographic changes.
My aunt really liked the OG thundercats when she was a kid so when I told her they were remaking it I showed her the theme song and she actully reacted how the titans reacted when they saw it in the episdoe. She just told me it was dumb and didn't want to see it anymore. It was funny and I laughed
I’ve never seen any of the Thundercats shows (have only recently started showing an interest in the 2011 version thanks to Roar), but that show still makes me mad for some reason. Maybe it’s because I’m wanting to learn animation and am a self-taught artist, but the art style and the writing are God awful. And this so coming from someone who never even watched the old shows. If a person who’s never watched the old versions of the show hates the latest rendition without having an INKLING as to who the characters are MEANT to be, then how will that translate to the actual audience that they’re marketing this to? How can they be so sure that they’ll like it? Can we just go back to the days of Kim Possible and Jake Long: American Dragon where kids actually got good shows and weren’t treated like morons?
My friend had the 2011 one on dvd and it was awesome!! But then we finished the dvd and yeah. About 5 years later I remembered it and searched it up. Cancelled.
I grew up when the original ThunderCats was on but I never watched the show. I loved the 2011 version though. In the show suggestion part of the old Adult Swim Message Board, I was the first to ask for it to be brought back for Toonami. I was hoping it would be popular enough there that new episodes might be made. It's too bad that never happened.
I've never seen the OG Thundercats bc I'm pretty young (13) and it's an older show, but if when I become an adult someone does something like _that_ to my current favorite shows/anime, we're gonna have a _fight._
One could say the creators of TTG have become as bitter and mean spirited as their biggest haters. Honestly, at this point I stopped caring, we all have better things to do than negatively obsessing over a show we clearly don't like.
As somebody as young as me, AKA, a child, I just don’t like the show. I never watched a single minute of the original series, but I can tell that it was obviously better than right now. I can’t tell if it’s because of the overused fart jokes, or the fact that every single character is so- annoying. I can never find myself liking any of the characters. Perhaps if it had the original art style, I could like it a bit; a shred bit, the size of a grain of sand. The only episodes I could find myself liking are the season one episodes. Perhaps some of the season two episodes, but that’s really just all.
The problem you’re having is a mixture of all the things you noted as well as a few other things. I grew up with the original series and loved it a lot, and to see it rebooted as a complete mockery of the original was bad. Not only was it a mockery, but it was a mockery that rubbed salt in the wound it created out of deriding the original. The humour can only be described as ADHD (I say this as someone who likely has this undiagnosed, but is on the autism spectrum nonetheless. Common comorbidity.), characters are always silly, all over the place, gross, and are making meta humour. It lacks so much in its own substance that it rides off of other topics to hear itself talk. Despite the fact that it’s marketed to kids around ages 4-12, its humour is extremely juvenile beyond any learning value. Potty and burping humour is for people no older than 3, I’d say. Another big problem is how much the show pigeonholes itself by capitalizing on what’s urgently hip; the Powerpuff Girls reboot had the same issue, it capitalized the shit out of memes from the 2010s such as twerking and social media culture. As a result, both of these shows become dated by their own content. The reason why you don’t like any of the characters is because they are not characters, they’re self-insert caricatures. Cartoons are supposed to be an escape from reality and so your imagination can run wild with the narrative. Elements of reality can be incorporated into cartoons, but when they exist to solely be commentary or parody of real life, it can get dull. It’s one thing having your favourite comic book hero make a comment that they struggle to pay their bills because hero work doesn’t pay, but if it happened every issue, you’d think that being a starving hero was their only character trait. That is my spiel.
@@ColdBaltBlue very well explained cause ttg is more like caricature show than a cartoon show indeed. Cause even the original ones still had that anime-ish aspect that I remember liking alot. I even remember where I like the titans alot especially Cyborg since I thought of him as rather powerful and a tanker only for me to feel bit uncomfortable when he got badly outmatched for a few while which cost him his limbs and several destroyed parts until he somehow regenerates his limbs back and outmatched his opponent.
Yeah, Season 1 is the best, some of Season 2 is decent too. My personal favorite episode is the one where they reference their other personas, like Red X and Stone.
It wouldn't be so bad if it actually had a story arch instead of it being just Seinfeld for kids...I actually enjoyed some of the criticism they gave to the original Teen Titans (it wasn't done in a degrading way), and their music episodes were actually kinda cool. I personally wish Raven remained the rational one, instead of becoming just as irrational and crude as the rest of them. I can't think of anything else that I wish the show had done, so that's about it from me.
@@velazquezarmouries yeah your right. I remember those kind of shows which had depth, plot and character development but I guess that’s too expensive. It’s all about profit to these people
It died off because many of the same people were making those shows, the director for Teen Titans 2003 was involved in Ben 10 Alien Force, Generator Rex, Transformers Animated and more besides, but he's basically retired since 2018
Yeah. I TRIED to give it a chance when it premiered, but it was so annoying that I had to turn off the TV and wait for The Looney Tunes Show to come on.
I personally didn't enjoy this show for the reason of the animation like you said but I found one clip during this specific TTG episode that was highly disrespectful in that in the last scene in the cave with snarf and 2011 liono there is a skeleton of the original panthro showing him dead basically mocking the Original Voice actor Earl Hyman who had passed away in 2017. I found that the point that truly made me hate this show I didn't care that the show was what it was it's a show live and let live. But to show such disrespect to another human being by making fun of their legacy is just to much. I guess in short I'm neutral to the show but can't stand the creators of it for doing something like that
@@LocalTorchwoodIntern I feel the only reason this show exists is sell toys because Young Justice a better show was canceled didn't case it didn't sell enough toys, now that's sad !!!!!!!!
They're attempts at responding to the criticisms with their episodes (Which for the record they honestly been doing too much of for the last seven years) just comes off so lame.
Its an desperate pich for atention, TTG was lunched in popularity by the hate, they know the show is in borroewd time nowadays so they try to get that traction again but ppl just dont care enough, like jay said riping on teen titans go its overdone.
It is also pitiful but yeah I really just stopped caring and became apathetic to this series I am just wanting to see just how long this show last now until they finally end it
I love that they make all the TTG "haters" either fat, garbage dwellers, or just angry/depressed. Like if anything this shows how insecure the show's creators are if they have to make OG TT fans depicted as "ugly" and "mean" caricatures. The more respectable thing would be to just ignore the hate they got initially instead of making it the show's entire personality.
I thinks it’s worse that used a Make A Wish kid as a prop to whine about people the kid probably doesn’t even know existed. Guess the kid should of made a different wish like appear in a different DC show or comic, because it’s clear it was wasted by some really bitter and childish adults.
Im sad thatthe skeleton of a previous voice actor wasnt even pointed out in this, that isnt even a shot at the veiwers or a shot at the old show that is a shot fired at a voice actor who voiced a thundercat charecter from the older shows who died that isnt even just hammering the "Haters" but the show and cast of the orginal thundercats itself
I was shocked hearing that this fucking happened is disgusting and uncalled for. This is something you do not joke about, even under the explanation of a tribute is still horrible.
TTG when it first started out, probably was meant to be just a mindless kitty cartoon where they make fart jokes and other toilet humor type comedy. Granted, the show already does that, but I doubt it would have ever "evolved" into a parody of the superhero genre. In fact, the backlash of existing fans, might have actually saved the show and gave it an actual theme instead of being just pure random garbage. I admit there were a decent number of episodes in the series that I thought were rather decent, and some of the episodes that made fun of the genre, and and in some cases, the fans, was okay. However, the show is beating a dead horse with it's humor, and it hasn't really changed much in terms of that. It's mediocre to decent at best, as some episodes seem to have some thought put into them. But the vast majority of the episodes are just bad to mediocre.
ttg has a really weird, gross recurring idea that male sexual harassment is a good joking topic. so without the "complain that people complain" episodes we would probably have "complain people don't like it when robin is held at literal gun point and forced to twerk" episodes. jokes about butts or nudity are common in kids media, but i just feel the fact that robin often nonconsensually has his butt squeezed, slapped, or jiggled stops being a joke and starts being an actively bad message for kids about boundaries. in spite of the fact that even children seem to dislike the show (in my experience) cartoon network still has yet to stop pushing it non-stop, so i can only assume that you are right, and it is the potential for hate and controversy that keeps the show going.
@@Namingway248 Yeah the suggestive nature of the show is incredibly creepy, and rather just contradictory to the "this show is meant for children" theme. For example, one of the talent episodes had beastboy transform into a cow and "milk" all the judges, especially wonder woman, the only woman among the judges. In face value, it might not seem that bad. However, putting in the least bit of thought will showcase that this scene is pushing it suggestively, with Beast boy outright giving wonder woman a pearl necklace.
Ok, as much as it hurts to say, Mumm Ra Raven looks awesome - but everything else in that bit was.... I literally felt the cringe in my chest punching my gut, it was bad....
If Cartoon Network didn't air 'Teen Titans Go so damn much, I'd be less negative towards it, and if 'Teen Titans Go' wasn't so concerned of putting critics in their place, maybe it wouldn't be such a hated cartoon. Also, if the 'Powerpuff Girls' reboot didn't suck eggs, I'd be a little more open to their 'TTG' crossover, but the damage has been done. 'Teen Titans Go' will always be a stain on the legacy of Cartoon Network.
Out of all shows to reboot into a mostly comedy, why in the world did they choose Thundercats? They constantly say "This show isn't for you" to the old fans who didn't like the direction, but if you aren't looking to cash in on a pre-existing fanbase, why reboot that property? Although my favorite part of the backlash of Roar's initial announcement was all the internet artists playing damage control and even trashing the 2011 reboot, all the while admitting their friends were working on the show. And then the people lowkey threatening to blackball aspiring animators and artists for criticizing the show. Fun times. Also, why is it shows with at least divisive, if not poor to bad quality, have so much venom to any and all critique or dislike? If you aren't going to listen, at least don't go out of your way to address the supposed "haters", and just make a good show in the eyes of your fans. Your haters don't watch your show nearly as much as your fans, unless your show is garbage.
Heres an idea, make original shows. They make reboots that arent even loyal to their originals. The ducktales reboot was awesome and there are others reboots that are great, but all around making original shows is the way to go.
My main issue with reboots is they turn them into generic shows that have nothing to do with the originals. In that case just make a new show instead of poisoning the well.
This is exactly why I was very satisfied when roar got cancelled after one season Karma is a bitch. It made fun of the early cancellation of the 2011 series and its fans but ended up being even shorter lived
honestly im fine with the style of art they chose, its just the "comedy" aspect that they decided to add to it. i wanted the teen titans go to either be the characters side adventures that was happening off screen of the original teen titans or for teen titans go to have its own story line, but it didnt do either of those and CN just left us with sorry excuse for a TT spin off.
yeah all the episodes contain idiotic jokes, crappy plots, The ttg movie is the only time they actually get somewhere with the plot *okay you actually thought I'd write an essay*
Wasn't that the original selling point? I seem to remember all of the commercials back in 2013 advertising it as: "What do superheroes do when they aren't fighting crime?" In the end, they completely dropped that concept, and now it's just about a group of superheroes doing...things.
@@brycebitetti1402 Yeah... They repeat the same exact things every episode and are basically stating it in the episode, those writers know what they're doing lmao.
16:07 “exaggerates a point that no one is making” this is called a straw man. Teen Titans Go is ALL ABOUT straw manning the criticism of people who don’t like the show.
The original teen titans was for kids too. Whether we were physically kids or kids at heart. It was serious and light hearted. Humorous and deep. They balanced so much and talked about relevant topics in the world. They were really touching and portrayed deep messages. And the story telling… just wow. What I enjoyed most from it was the messages it conveyed to its viewers. Controlling anger, living with disabilities, fighting for loved ones, racism etc. they were ALL covered while also entertaining the viewers and making us laugh. I can show my little cousins that show and know that they are both entertained and being educated. I cant say that about TTG. Its crude humor.. and well thats it. Crude humor might have its place in shows but thats the center of this show. Its a slap to the face of their original fanbase. The best way I can put it is the original TT was a satisfying meal and TTG is high fructose con syrup. Shame on cartoon network. I hate to sound cliche but what are you teaching children?
So essentially the tl;dr is: "The co-creators of TTGo hate old cartoons, hate people that like said old cartoons, and want to actively ruin said old cartoons for said people." Also, instead of addressing criticism of what they made, they instead go straight for ad hominem insulting and belittling critics instead. Much the same as the BBC, Chibnall, and Whittaker have done with Doctor Who. Also, no, pointing out your own flaws or making fun of critics do _NOT_ make said flaws okay. It just shows you are childish and can't handle criticism and just flat out hate the abovementioned groups of people for no good reason.

To be fair, the episode, "Halloween", shows a flashback to last year's Halloween, in which the Titans are all dressed as ThunderCats characters, so it's not like they've never EVER been shown to like ThunderCats before.
If the original TT had like an ending or an announcement about TTG then TTG would have been more acceptable but TT ended with a cliffhanger (was it a cliffhanger on purpose idk and i could care less) and then suddenly TTG happens (to me) it was like having a favorite candy be re-flavor into something and when trying said candy tasting like crap at the end of the day (and I'm just spit balling here so don't take my word for it) fans hate TTG because the creators are focusing TTG more than making an actual ending to TT yes "it's a kids show stop getting worked up" i could care less
I'm very happy that ThunderCats Roar is officially cancelled. Though, I can feel that Teen Titans Go is losing steam which is also a good thing for me. But what's funny is that the people over at Warner Bros. Animation is making fun of both Teen Titans Go and ThunderCats Roar, like for example there's a crappy crossover, Teen Titans Roar where the Titans (except Starfire) extremely rant on ThunderCats Roar which was both funny and understandable because the Go incarnations of the Titans (again, except Starfire) are fans of the original ThunderCats series just like us. I mean, look at me, I like the original ThunderCats series but I like the 2011 version better, also both of those shows are on Hulu. In conclusion, It is fun to rip on Teen Titans Go but man, okay I get it. Kids love TTG, it gives them more money, but seriously I just want this show to end already. The damage needs to be done.
Basically to sum this episode up: Teen Titans Go is still salty after years of being in denial that they're a bad reboot, so they made an entire episode dedicated to strawmen arguments to justify their own show, while simultaniously comparing themselves to another show that in their eyes has also succumbed to the big bad "Reboot mob mentality." As if the backlash TCR had for their PROMO (not the entire show at that point, the promo), is in any way on the same level as TTG's backlash.
13:05 when you said that I remembered how my sister would force me to watch animes saying that I have to like some anime even if I don't like any of the 50 she previously showed me, so I just thought that anime wasn't for me, and that it would be like that forever, until I found an anime I actually liked and I got an existencial crisis because of that, but even then I just viewed that anime as the exception because I hadn't liked a single anime I had seen at the time and I haven't liked any other anime ever since.

It's sad but I think that we need to give the show closure ourselves and accept that it's over and there is no way of bringing it back

Hilda is a masterpiece that deserves all the love it's given. I can't wait for how they'll adapt Hilda and the Mountain King.

And i cannot in ANY way see that being a "Tribute" either, and if that WAS a tribute, then that is a fucking horrible tribute.
oh, how terrible, Panthro's va died, lets honor him by literaly showing the character's rotting corpse on screen
Thank you!! I completely agree🔥🔥🔥

Thundercats '11 was fantastic, I was so annoyed as a kid when they stopped airing new episodes.

Teen titans go is pretty much a slice of life which means that it HEAVILY relies on character interaction
That’s the problem I’ve had with teen titans go. The characters are so unlikable. And it’s not even a charming unlikable
There’s barely charm to the characters. They’ve become in charming unlikable brats for the most part (with episodic exceptions) which doesn’t always make a good slice of life
There are the occasional episodes where the characters aren’t bad.

Chance if there was that many people asking for it then where are they?
So children that just like superheroes, randomness, and slap stick humor? I mean whats there to even complain about?
Chance they have no fans they just have an easy formula with a popular property. Stop acting like people want this.

@@BabyGirlTiny reason is still not a good excuse. They gave into it and look like the immature adult children they appear as in the tc roar video

I was totally willing to ignore it, too, and then the constant marathons started happening to the point where I started loathing when it came on or actively tried to avoid it.

The laughs were always earned because you grew to love these characters and they felt like living, breathing people. You could mature with them.

@@robie1753 ok ko
Yes. They're basically implying that kids are really stupid and will watch literally anything with no sense of quality control.

If you pay attention to certain episodes, you’ll see that the Titans will make criticisms about other shows or forms of media. However, these criticisms are exactly what’s wrong with THEIR show.
I think the writers know this and it's their way of saying they don't care. Kinda sad, really.
it's like they made fun of a show and then some guy said "YOU try to make a better one!" and then they massively failed
Imagine an episode where the Titans actually try to make a show. They tried to make their own movie once, and it was a bust. A nationally broadcast television program? Break all TVs. NOW.

To be honest, I kind of forgot about the Show’s existence after the Thundercats controversy.
I did too
It’s gone on too long, no one cares.
I watched the 2011 reboot and I even used to have that kind of Sword back then.
My friend had the 2011 one on dvd and it was awesome!! But then we finished the dvd and yeah. About 5 years later I remembered it and searched it up. Cancelled.
I grew up when the original ThunderCats was on but I never watched the show. I loved the 2011 version though.
In the show suggestion part of the old Adult Swim Message Board, I was the first to ask for it to be brought back
for Toonami.
I’m telling you, if Teen Titans Go keeps it up with these crossovers, they’re gonna kill the good shows! It’s not safe!
Yeah that’s the joke, the whole show is a big joke

Because most of the people who work on these shows seem to have massive chips on their shoulders and massive egos
I know right. Why not bring back shows that were intended to be wacky comedies.
This is exactly why I was very satisfied when roar got cancelled after one season
Karma is a bitch.

The original teen titans was for kids too. Whether we were physically kids or kids at heart. It was serious and light hearted. Humorous and deep. They balanced so much and talked about relevant topics in the world. They were really touching and portrayed deep messages. And the story telling… just wow. Cheap animation and appeals to small kids. My nephews love this show and watch it on basic cable and Hulu. Then you got the toys.
Basically to sum this episode up:
Teen Titans Go is still salty after years of being in denial that they're a bad reboot, so they made an entire episode dedicated to strawmen arguments to justify their own show, while simultaniously comparing themselves to another show that in their eyes has also succumbed to the big bad "Reboot mob mentality." As if the backlash TCR had for their PROMO (not the entire show at that point, the promo), is in any way on the same level as TTG's backlash.
Any specific kind you like?
What anime was it
@@knweeb514 i also want to know
please do let us know what anime it was, because if it was your favorite, then you can always look for more types like it out there.
My "favorite" fan petitions are ones demanding the creators make the popular fanon OTP canon or rewrite an entire season because the fans Didn't Like It. (Why yes I'm throwing shade at the Voltron fandom.)
The Game of Thrones Petition wasn't serious, it was meant to show at least a fraction of the fans benioff and Weiss pissed off.
The JohnLock conspiracy lmao
