- the screen is double because of strikes from youtube
Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away
But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart
But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
What pisses me off is that no matter how well we learn to play this song, we ain't gonna make it sound this good.
no shame in that
So true! He is a true master!
Just keep trying…
It's owned by Neil, one can only borrow or.
the reverb is tasty.
Prefer the guy on the left
I keep playing videos of Neil performing this song over and over again. It’s a thing of beauty, the tune his voice and the lyrics.
mate, i have dropped into the same hole in the last month. its an addictive wormhole to fall into.
Count me In guys…. I’ve been doing the same thing.
I also was enchanted on the night it played on snl. I recorded each snl including the rerun the same yea then I lost the vhsc tape and felt true loss and sadness although I had seen the official vid, but it wasn't the same as the snl live performance. Time marches on but each year there is a harvest moon. This 2022 h.m. is due in Oct but here I am.
Now where can one acquire a copycwithoutvthe double screen?
voice of the century.
This is the best version of this song... by far. Incredible. A man and his voice + guitar + harmonica... no other accompaniment... wow. Absolutely fucking epic.
I consider this to be the best live musical performance ever recorded on SNL. Saw it live as it happened and nearly cried.
Yessir. I was there, too.
I have become addicted to playing this song on my guitar and have played little else in the last 4 or 5 months. What is it about this song? It most definitely makes me well up with tears when Neil sings it. There is something ethereal about it - I don't know what it is but it has captured my soul and it won't let go. I think it is my favourite song of all time. Music that can make you cry for no apparent reason is extremely powerful, definitely something very, very special is going on here and I whole-heartedly embrace it even though I can't begin to understand it. Keep on rockin'in the free world guys!😊
Me too. I was about 3/4 through a 40 oz Miller and was just floored.
bro i cry watching youtube videos so thats not saying much. There is no best at everything because opinions and feelings are mortal and its good to view everything as equal no matter what ;)
^everybody knows that btw
This was my first conscious exposure to neil young. This song filled me with the possibility of love again...lol..I was only like 12 or 13 when I first heard it in the early 90's on pbs. I rediscovered it again at 17 ....oh, to be young and in love. Beatiful song
I was 19?, this is specifically Saturday night live 1987 or 86. I was sitting on my girlfriend's parent's couch waiting for her sister to go to bed to start my finger bang etc...strategy and then this comes on. Fuck duran duran....what the hell!?!? Soul scratching love.
Neil Young is a living legend, a gift to the world.
Such a beautiful and soulful song it moves me to tears.
Mary Ann Dull me too... I listen to it over and over again... and cry every time...
Me too. I thought I was going thru menopause at 41
Yup I hear you..
have always loved Neil young. .this is so wonderful i have same same feelings as you its just so lovely..
Those harmonics aren't easy to hit like that. But he makes it look easy lol. Great musician
It’s so crazy how easy he make this whole thing look while singing truly legendary guitar player
Simple chord arrangements, great Martin acoustics, powerful strumming, dropped D, this guy could take chicken shit and make chicken salad every time. Great songwriter, singer and player.

Right on !!
Dropped d gives it a nice bass line
I remember watching this live on SNL back in the early 90s. We were really quite mesmerized. It’s as if he’s the only person in the room. It’s just complete silence in that place. Incredible
Now this is real music. Incredibly beautiful!!!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written and performed!
I like how he effortlessly inserts the Dobro parts while playing solo.
whats dobro
@@RobbiePfunder - Dobro (stringed instrument) as played on the album and here: ua-cam.com/video/n2MtEsrcTTs/v-deo.html Without accompaniment, Neil Young just plays harmonic rings on his guitar instead. Not really hard but he makes it look effortless. Well, he did write the melody and has played it thousands of times by now so no surprise.
I'm 18 and this is my favourite song...I could never get sick of it. It's so timeless and sentimental, such a wistful classic
Infinitely better than the studio version.
His voice is more relaxed here than with a band, which makes the high notes more pleasant. On some versions his vocal chords are tighter and the head voice has no vibrato as a result. Wonderful!
I am 43 and I got my 70 year old mom hooked on this song. The most beautiful song I have ever heard. No joke.
I still recall seeing this on SNL back in the day. It made a huge impact on me then and it still resonates to this day.
Me too.
Me too.
Somebody should have cloned him!! Over and over again. Because no one else could fill his shoes!
Romance at its finest, but only with this voice....Neil Young.....a legend
Neil Young is the only human being that can get away with that voice...the combination of his songwriting and melodic genius gives credibility and validation to that singing voice of his. There will never be another Neil Young.
A voice like velvet, my absolut favorite song! Let this song go trough my veins many times a day
Happy 70th Birthday Neil!!-Love you....
its just doesnt get any better.. one of my favorite.
such an original songwriter and performer....true genius. so free
When Neil Young gets Introduced at The Last Waltz and starts singing 'Helpless' , Robbie Robertson looks up to the heavens ,smiles and shakes his head in ecstacy as Neil starts singing . Thats what Neil Young's voice and music does to the soul .....
gotta lay off the booze. seeing double.
I don't know you but I had a great laugh, this song is a classic romantic double or not
Your view will be corrected with 3D glasses. Neal just kinda works that way. On a serious note ... I've seen him in concert 5 times. Never disappoints. Very unique guitar playing & voice. Of course his lyrics and songwriting are excellent.
One is playing harmony, lol. harmonics. :)
This song is magic! Love this all by Neil version. He's great.
This is BEAUTIFUL, and far superior to the studio version.
if you cross your eyes just right, you'll see Neil in 3d.
Still a great song. Brings back the good times 👍
Thank you for posting this. It is my favorite solo performance by Neil. Absolutely Perfect.
I saw this on SNL such a good performance.
@@bewaremyswirlyblades6775 I cant remember what the other was. I was too blown away by what he did here.
The reason I asked for an acoustic guitar for Christmas as a kid. Haven't looked back since.
The first time I heard this song, it was performed by Poolside. I didn't know it was Neil's song. This is a beautiful song.
This is my absolute favorite song in existence and specifically because of this performance. Now in my late 30s and it just hits and resonates every single time I hear or see it.
These song always brings tears to my eyes..
Guy is just one of a kind, incredible all on his own. It’s impossible to be that good.
Twice the artist
You get 5 thumbs up from me for posting this snl version.
Xcellent solo performance of a tear jerker beauty of a song.
Thank you.
So simple... so beautiful.
I was a freshman at U of Montana when it aired. We left Charlie B's early that sat night to get home and catch this. It was worth it.
Can you tell me what year? This was a significant view for me as I watched it live, but don't remember the month/year...
It would've been winter of 91-92
I did a little searching and found it aired originally 12/05/1992 - Thanks! www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/season-18/episode/8-tom-arnold-with-neil-young-63676

Great song by neal. Only he could make it sound like this. Makes my eyes water.
Harp work is a bit rough but guitar work is amazing as always.

Magic
NY Willa.ways be my favorite musician. Just GREAT. And I’ve seen many in my lifetime....
Thank you so much for posting this. I've been searching for it on and off for at least 10 years. I remember seeing it live as a 16-year old, completely transfixed by his performance. I'd never seen anyone play guitar like that, and I was just learning. Still can't properly do harmonics like that!
Stacia M... me too! I remember being chilled to the core seeing this live on SNL... what an awesome song. I feel so privileged to exist in this version of reality!
Neil usually has another player do the Harmonics part but as you can see it can be done by yourself. It's not a hard part you just need the practice to get the feel & the hardest part is the final note in the progression. I am more a rock player but have always loved Neil's work especially this tune. I would share a bit though it's an older song I wrote for electric guitar back in my younger days . If you would like to hear it here's the Link. ua-cam.com/video/RHj04fFTrZI/v-deo.html or click on my green icon button & click Lost Time. I also play much acoustic stuff & this song was one of my favorites . Usually do what He does & let someone else do the Harmonic part as you see how much it slows him down to try & stay smooth . That's the really tough part if you want to do all the parts at the same sitting.
Wow so stunning to hear live just like a recording ! Just an epic performance
I have this performance recorded on VHS tape, when I used to set my VCR to record SNL every Saturday night. And I still have a VCR. I can play it and record it on my phone and send you a copy?
Always listen to this tune dad loved as we all did the singer Neil young had so much pain in his earlier years xx
My baby only sleeps when she hear and get dance this song!
I have this song in my head all morning. Now I’m playing it.
Why the split screen? Was this the original producer's decision or the kind person who posted this video?
I saw this live when I was maybe 12 or 13, and I recall being stunned by the beauty of the song, and just thinking it just felt like an incredible moment in late night television. In retrospect, maybe one of the musical high points that SNL cast saw, and that was when Hartman, Farley, Carvey, Nealon, Myers, Meadows, Sandler, Spade, etc. were in the cast. Neil never slowed down after that either. He’s still the real deal.
Imho, if the song Stardust had never been written, this would be the most beautiful song of all time
The list of 60’s artists who were still writing all-timers in the 90’s is small. Neil is undoubtedly among them.
absolutely beautiful. Neil one of the best!
Absolutely fantastic. This version got me hooked 30 years ago.
Great memories of the early 90s when I was in college. Fun!
brilliant
whos going to fill those shoes
Nobody. Too much rap and hip hop now days. People today don't know or recognize good music when they hear it.
Chad VanGaalen
what a beautiful song and talented song writer.
Probably the second best musical performance on SNL. Next to Harrison & Simon. 😀
I remember that.... Here comes the Sun. Cept this performance was Unplugged, not SNL
Neil young rocking the UGGs for men
Prolly my favorite Neil Young Song.
Just wonderful - so many good memories tied with this song!
I am shaken ..
Brings back bittersweet memories, love it ❤❤❤
At 2:30 he struck a dead harmonic note. (For critics only )
P goodness gracious! Oh my God my goodness gracious! Oh my God he's so beautiful to me and you know what he fell in love with some Well this woman that was actually in it Anyway oh my gosh, are you freaking kidding me? I just left myself. Thank you for your songs. Oh my goodness gracious
Muito Bonito !!!
Música Linda 💚 💛 🇧🇷
One of my favorite songs💗
I remember seeing this live on SNL and being floored. I though, OK, Neil's career is far, far from over.
Just. Wow.
I love it!!!
Too bad he became a corprate shill fot the pharmaceutical indusrry and turned his back on everything he had claimed to stand for.
That conspiracy theory was long ago debunked.

Does it get any better than this? Of course NO!
Such a great dance tune!
Thanks for uploading this!
This song's simple melody ALWAYS tears at my eyes. Now, I'm either cross-eyed or have glaucoma. C2019RWBEEink
WOW beautiful!!!
In still in love with Neil Young 🌱
The Greatest Melody Ever?
Lot of harmonics. Didn't miss one !!
By Jove, that's exactly the way I've played those chords since it since 1962! Well done, Neil!
Hey, if I were Don & Phil Everly (no, actually songwriter Sonny Curtis), I would have demanded royalties for his pre-existing 1961 tune called "Walk Right Back" (sound familiar, folks?..hmm). Which reminds me, if anyone has missed Neil's songs on SPOTIFY, please raise your hand. Really Neil? You punished SPOTIFY for asserting their 1st amendment right by broadcasting Joe Rogan's programs? We realize now how badly your snowflake, political sensibilities must have been hurt. Thank goodness you didn't decide to leave the USA over your Constitutional Right contention.
RELAX! JUST KIDDING, NEIL! 😎🤞
Hahaha... there is a slight similarity in the chords between "Walk Right Back" and "Harvest Moon." But the songs are night and day different... and Harvest Moon is a vastly superior piece.
And yeah... Neil was misguided in his fight with Spotify... but bringing it up here is not the place to do it. Not when he is laying down one of the great musical performances in live TV history.
