If you went round the world backpacking "in the mid '40s" you, A) must have some amazing war stories and B) look astonishingly good for your age.
    Most entertaining as usual.

2 weeks in Brittany is perfectly reasonable to me. 2 weeks in a garage is the crazy thing.

Thank you, thank you, Andy! When I travel, I'm an explorer, which is why 2 weeks in a single spot would never work for me. But I've always had a ton of respect for those people who can just pick a spot and settle into the holiday life there.

@@NeilTalks You do get to know an area very well. We look up interesting museums, castles, ruins, hikes, beaches or forrests etc, and historic cities or villages. Typically we stay three weeks, and explore the area. Sometimes you discover hidden gems, sometimes you spot a nice place on your way elsewhere, sometimes the tiny museum in a barn is bad, but you have a very nice conversation with the guy behind the counter who tells you all about the interesting things to do. :P

Lee has been doing the show for so long that true stories from his life are pretty much mined out. The show producers love to give him ridiculous cards and watch him to try spin it and wind David up.

  • @taniaPBear

Lee and David's unique chemistry is what keeps the show fresh. Sometimes the guests take it and run, but even when they don't, you still have their sharp, witty, banter to carry an episode.

Vannes is a very pleasant seaside town on the South coast of Brittany- a lot of lovely beaches in the region and it's not far from the Loire valley. A specific repeated aspect of Carol's facial language/expression gave away whether it was true or not- Henning has done the same on a few occasions and Ruth Jones gave fine examples in her tortoise story.

Great episode and reaction. Rhod lived in France for a while, love stories like this which just fit so much with his persona. Could I please recommend you checkout soon the episode with Sean Lock, Trevor Noah, Richard Hammond and Judy Murray (Andy Murray's Mum). One of my favourites with some great stories, obviously pertinent because of recent events and Hammond and Trevor are lots of fun too. I believe its series 9 episode 6.

Great as usual, Boring story from me, a housemate and I went to a local shop about 3 weeks ago and Carol Vorderman exited a house on the way back and he insisted on a selfie - this was Pontcanna in Cardiff btw, but I presumed she lived in North Wales or London - she 's had a a lot of work done but was very nice. Just in case you didn't know, she was the original maths/letters girl on the first 20 odd years of original 'countdown'. x

You should have a listen to some of Rhod Gilbert's stand up and you will realise how obstinate he is. Once he is at a destination ( a garage or ditch at the side of the road ) he is committed to a long stay just to spite anyone else around.

Has anyone recommended Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled? There are 6 series and it's Alan talking to 4 guests (mostly comedians). They each bring a story, but it's basically a really funny conversation and they have to come up with a title for the show from one of the topics. The wikipedia page has a full breakdown of the guests on each episode, but you'll recognise a lot of people from WILTY and TM. Bob has been on a few times. If you're able to find it, enjoy!
