That’s it I rescued for over 10 years, the trauma, stress and energy it takes is insane, that’s not even mentioning the financial burden, I never at all got close to breaking even on the money I spent, most of the time the horses or ponies were gifted to magical homes, otherwise they were for sale at the vet and farrier costs, the food and time was my gift to them…. I hope to get back to it one day, equines are an incredible animal, they have the most beautiful pure soul x they honestly need protection x they are similar to a human child, curious, naive, and oh so innocent x if they are damaged they behave like a child too, they regress and retreat into themselves, it can take years to bring them out of it….. they give up I guess? They gave trust and love and in return…… love ❤️ and respect each other, you honestly have no idea what their minds are capable of, treat them as a child x
I went to an auction yard, to check out horsedrawn vehicles to use with a welsh pony we had adopted from horse rescue Australia. At the same time there was a general stock auction under way, and one of the few horses there was a beautiful young dappled grey thoroughbred gelding in excellent condition, feet trimmed and shod. He’d already been purchased by a dogger. Another person who was horrified by his predicament checked him over - no problems with legs etc. then the dogger came to load him up. The horse walked quietly through the maze of pens containing cattle, sheep, goats, etc and was loaded onto a cattle truck with his head tied up high. I will never forget the desperate look he sent me of “help me”. So since it was Saturday, no banks open, my husband and I agreed with the other couple that we could get the cash from an ATM, while they could put him on the property they were renting in with their own horse, and pay us back. We already had the pony and a horse on agistment, so much as I wished we could have this guy, it was beyond our means. A deal was done with the dogger, who offloaded the horse. Another couple, who had also been in agonies about this horse, had a horse trailer with them to load up some furniture they had bought, offered to take him to the property. We went to our feed store to buy hay. The poor fellow was finally loaded up and the only problem he had was the furniture piled in one side of the trailer. A bum rope got him on board. We all met at the property and were standing around discussing the horse, when he came over to join in. What a sweetheart! Turns out he was in pain nose to tail through having been ridden in a dressage arena with extremely deep sand while using a standing martingale. So he was badly strained all through his neck and back. The other woman planned to let him heal, then possible ride him using a bitless bridle. Unfortunately we lost contact once they had repaid us. Sorry.
This breaks my heart... It breaks the hearts of these once loved and cared for horses, too. How scary and alone they must feel....Every single one of these beautiful horses! Healthy, illl, skinny, pregnant, mama... racehorse, pony...pet! Especially Mares with their babies... Thanks for all you did then and all you do now!
Thank you and God bless you all❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😇😇😇😇😇😇🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I am working hard to become a 1st time horse owner so, I can help save these beautiful angels from slaughter
This makes me cry. I wish I had the money and land and everything they needed for a beautiful life. I would take everyone of these horses and love them and give them the best life possible.
That's it. i am devoting my life to these horses. i will go to these sales myself, bye a trailer load of horses every time, care for and send out only to good homes. i will work my ass off for this, i will do whatever it takes. i will do anything, anything for these horses!
this is heart wrenching! Matter or fact, I am still crying. what happens to these horses due to over breeding is cruel and unjust!! Thanks to us we have horses being sent to slaughter houses because no body wants an old washed up made that was only being used to produce more foals!!! Are you kidding me??? People need to understand that actions come with a fall back, and in this case, our fall back is innocent horses who just want to be loved... being killed! There should be more people like this service to help these poor animals find a family who deserves all of the love these outstanding animals can bring! 💓
how can we help. they won't stop the slaughter. it is all about money.too many young beautiful horses . I wish this was on TV,so people could see this(the slaughter house)
Too many horses, not enough places where a horse can be fed (it's not cheap to feed a horse!). So there's only one solution: Stop breeding. It's the same with cats and dogs.
Poor beautiful intelligent creatures. This is not how it was meant to be. They all deserve a home where they are treated kindly. Not in the herded masses, starving and abused and then the slaughter. I am in tears over this. I have no money but lots of people do, do something about this! Give these animals hope! They are so afraid, this place is not what they deserve.
I live in Australia and I thought that we were one country that really treated animals with the respect they deserve, but this has made me wonder. Over breeding then just not caring or wanting them, seeing these beautiful horses staring pleading for someone to save their life. Come on Australia wake up be the country we should be, please
How is this allowed to happen. Every day something happens that makes me despise the majority of the human race for their cruelty and inhumanity to animals. Thank goodness there are some who care. So many horses and its happening in our own backyard. How many people know about this? Its shocking. Thank you Horse Rescue Australia for all you do.
Heartbreaking. They are all so frightened..terrified. We have never, ever sold a horse. Once with us, they are with us for life. They are not commodities. Thoroughbreds, pure arabs, appys. Babies and older horses..all chucked in together. I cannot fathom what they must be feeling. Thank you for your work in trying to help them. Please don't breed.
So, people say "Oh if you can put a home, adopt" but I have seen every day how much people have horses and a vast majority of them does not take even a proper care of them! They end up locked three, five, eight, twelve hours and sometimes almost 24/7! Horses do not need shoes, they do not need spurs, they do not need a pink blanket and a ribbon, they do not need LOVE, horses need to be understood and treated correctly, they need to be free in open pasture with a herd. Horses do not need love Horses need to be understood If se understand them and respect their necessities, then that is when we will truly will love a horse
This broke my heart I’ve begged my mum to get me a horse and she always says no. I told her that most horses waste there lives to be put to the slaughter house. Lets just hope I get a horse, and change its life forever ♾
It's appalling the way we treat horses and other family herd animals. Separated and shunted around like unwanted single items. You can see the horror and terror in these horses eyes, whether having just come from places where they were well cared for or not. We completely ignore relationships in the animal world. That mare with her foal would by nature be in a secure herd environment.. there she is lost with her foal. Hopefully they got a longterm home together where they could form new family bonds following this traumatic experience. Great service this saving at least some of them.
Why bring a horse into the world only for it to suffer and in some cases die. That is abuse in its self. Thank you to everyone who rescued a horse xxxx
I'm sobbing, no lie. I'd love to have a horse, and here people are throwing them away like garbage. I have waited 7 years to get a horse of my own. I want to rescue so bad. I know I can soon, thanks to the fact that I now have a barn and the right property to have a happy horse.
The reason these horses are up for auction, is that their owners are selling them for money, some are old, and may have many problems, vetinary treetment as you all know costs a lot of money, maybe thousands of pounds, depending on what is wrong with a horse, it does not take long to run a bill of a thousand pounds, for vetinary bill, X Rays , treetment etc, These people know if they put the horse down at home they will have the vets bill of around 150 pounds to put the horse down, then they have the disposal cost of the carcass another 150 pounds. So instead they send it to auction and get a few pounds for it, and have no expenses . This is the reason you see old horses at these auctions, horses can live maybe to 30 or more years, and it costs roughly 80 pounds Stirling a week to keep a horse. Young horses again end up at these auctions for many reasons, overbreeding, the owners don't have the money to care for them, send them to,auction for sale, they have become unwanted. That beautiful little foal is now a 2 or 3 year old, and has become for dome reason unwanted, or has not lived up to the promise the breeder had intended so has become unwanted. The owners have gone into bankruptcy , and the horses have been lifted by the bank or some other interested party they only care about getting their money back, the horse, a living creature becomes a comody. Now you can have some very good auctions where horses are sold to good homes, and become great horses for riding and competing, but the reality like everything else horses grow old like we do, and the people competing want competing horses. So that beautiful horse that won all the shows, changes hands, and ends up at one of these auctions. This is the sad fact of life, it doesn't matter , if you stopped eating horses , or stope feeding horse meet to dogs that will not stop horses growing old. It is no use saying keep them till they die naturally, some horses would have a very bleak outlook, through sickness and I'll health, I myself have seen some of my friends keep an old favourite horse long past when it was enjoying life, 35 years of age, O they feed it well, took care of it, the old horse was done, it was all swelled up of the stomach , I love horses and I said to them, would you not go and put that old horse down, your right Winifred, but we love it, I can't bear to put it down, someone else did it for them a couple of days later, and I can tell you their was tears in that house. We need to stop breeding so many horses. I think this will answer the question, and before someone wants a horse 365 days a year to look after that horse, and roughly 80 pounds a week to keep it, Can you afford the time, to care for it and can you afford the money to keep it. I love all horses, but in the end you have to think sensibly. Greetings from Northern Ireland.
What a beautiful horses and there is not any beautiful horses in india even in our small state the origin of polo manipur we have 500 or 600 horses only i think we our manipur people get your kind of horses we can play polo much better and australia polo players coming to our home land manipur for the invitation polo tornament we can give such a nice horses coming from every countries amazing horses nice to see this video.
I really Want to travel to Australia to ride horses but my Sister doesn’t want to go she wants to go to another country..without horses..........BUT ITS OKAY I KNOW SOMEDAY WHEN I CAN CHOOSE IM TRAVELLING TO AUSTRALIA
Didn't know Australia allowed horse slaughter! How sad! I live in Texas, US allows buying to ship to Mexico or Canada for slaughter...was shocked to find out Canada allowed it...NO ONE SHOULD!!! And yes, agree about over breeding...like dogs and cats, but males can be neutered!!

When in hell are they going to pass legislation for these poor rejects of society? Here in Canada, we're just as guilty. You dump your old horse at a slaughter house - You can't get another one. You over breed your horses for profit - JAIL . Enough is enough.
I cant afford to get a horse but trust me if could i would buy every singe horse from the slaughter houses that i find and + some rescue horses thst didnt get homes too

my fest horse came in skinny and bony and sad but with a bit of car he has became the most specialist horse ever but PS his name is Buddy. now i have a new horse. her name is Carousel and she is a brown and white paint and with buddy we don't now what type he is. also he is retired by the way my name is Jessica and i am a 11 years old
I started a fountain for wild horse they don't have voice someone has to I think that wild horse should be protected mustang are my love I have horse all my horse where skin and bones one was covered in bite there was not a spot that didn't have a bite she is scaredy inside just not herself but I love her so much I wouldn't changer her for any horse in the world my first horse was misty
I will never forgive my father, the POS who sent my dear pet horse, Lebanon Boy to slaughter when Lebby turned 33 and had lost his teeth. Yes, I am raging.
Yep, doggers come along and low ball offers. I've seen minis sell for $20 to the meat buyers. Any owner with half a heart places a reserve of over $750 on to keep most average sized horses out of the meat price range. Horses that don't meet reserve then go back home with owner. Auctions are stressful environments with huge amount of disease potential and no one with a whole heart would send their horse through one.
I wish I could be we're I live in Tennessee I have two acres and my parents say no to me to get a horse or pony of my dreams I had always wanted to save a horse or pony from a Slater house and bring it home to care for it
Kendra Smith there are plenty I’m sure in your area too. Maybe offer to foster a pony or horse from the aspca, so your parents get the idea not not as a permanent commitment. Then one day you will become a ‘foster fail’, (the foster family can’t bare to give the animal up), and a horse becomes a permanent addition to your home.
“Their only hope of a future is to catch your eye and your heart” 🤧 hit me

That is so sad because a they are not free they probably won't be able to feel a better life again 😭😭😭😭😭😿🐎
I will never forgive my father, the POS who sent my dear pet horse, Lebanon Boy to slaughter when Lebby turned 33 and had lost his teeth. Yes, I am raging.
can i have them for 30p
What happens to the ones that no one buys?
The dogger's buy them:(
Yep, doggers come along and low ball offers.
I may be young. BUT ONE DAY ILL STOP THE HORSE KILLERS OUT THERE!!!!!! HORSES ARE MY LIFE
Compasión for the horses, please no more cruelty animal stop ✋😬💔💕💖💞🐴🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎☝
I wish I could be we're I live in Tennessee I have two acres and my parents say no to me to get a horse or pony of my dreams I had always wanted to save a horse or pony from a Slater house and bring it home to care for it
Kendra Smith there are plenty I’m sure in your area too. Maybe offer to foster a pony or horse from the aspca, so your parents get the idea not not as a permanent commitment. Then one day you will become a ‘foster fail’, (the foster family can’t bare to give the animal up), and a horse becomes a permanent addition to your home.
I want them
This didn't make me sad 😭 it makes me VERY MAD 😡😡😡THAT PEOPLE TREAT ANIMALES LIKE SHIT WHY WHY WHY?!!!!IS MY QUESTION WHY!!!!!!!!
