I bet it if you just run a home through it slap a piston and rings in it you might be surprised at how good it’ll still run and how good of compression it’ll still make
I had 2 of them. There fun the gas cap is where you fill the 2 cycle oil its a nice setup. When you get it running check the voltage if it over charges it will slow the motor significantly. Also you can adjust the timing on the front of the motor.
the forward and reverse is a switch it lets the starter turn the motor backwards to get reverse the motor was made to run both ways strange motors they sell for 1200 to 2000 running over here in Canada well worth putting money in it
Be advised the small end needle bearings look uncaged, you may want to either remove them with a magnet or grease them so they will stay where they are at, if this is the case.
I'm not sure how accurate it is but from the quick glance I had on these things they had begun life in 1963 as a 3 whheler then they'd made them 4wheelers by 1969 when Harley was sold to AMF either way somewhat of a novel piece of Harley history . That thing was probably built better then some of the things they built today haha
Have that exact same key fob from back in the day. They were originally glow in the dark, but lost their ability to hold a light charge over the years.
Seen this sitting in your garage in last video joe looks cool will give you a bit of a break from the 500 it will be fun when you get it going you and chuck can go together dressed as Santa and his helper with the trailer on the back lol would be a laugh if you both did that haha take care mate 🔧🔧🔧👌👍🏍
That is a positive ground system. Make sure it is hooked up that way. Very important. Also, check your clutch assembly. Clean and lube if you want smooth operation. Tougher than nails machine.
HD golf carts are a rare find & one that runs & is in as good of condition as that one is in, can sell for probably anywhere from $1,000 on up. Defiantly worth spending the money to get it running, FYI the starter/gen spins one way for forward & the opposite way for reverse. the headlights probably don't come on until it is running that way if left on they won't drain the battery
Hey joe u might consider on getting a small sandblaster machine at harbor freight there nice for smalll jobs and u can clean a lot of parts that’s all gunk up like on this for an example well worth it
That thing you was wiping the dust off of I do believe is a voltage regulator. In one of the comments over charging was mentioned that regulator would be the first thing to check?
I thought that was a Harley. I used to have one like it. It wont run like normal. Its turned on wit a key but the motor wont run until the gas pedal is pressed. Weird setup that failed a lot lol and now they make some cars that way...not for me lol, the Harley yes, cars no. Be safe brother :)
That's how golfcarts are when you press the gas the starter generator, starts the motor then say you get off the cart and let of the gas pedal its not running wasting gas when your golfing all day
@@levisylvester You'd be surprised how many do,,we tried it with a FS1 50,,after seeing a race bike somehow bump start in reverse on the track,,FS1 ran by pulling the back wheel in reverse,,it amazed us,,we were about 12 or 13 yrs old,,,,
Those are snap rings not circlips that's y they didn't fit had it happen before somebody that thought that they could fix it couldn't an had one also Po couldn't fix motor I did with artic cat snow mobile motor
I would go to Walmart and get a bottle of Quicksilver 2-cycle oil it is all I would ever use there may be other really good brands but I have always trusted and have had really good service with the Quicksilver and like I said it's readily available at Walmart.
Hey man , I love the content . I always look forward to seeing what’s next!! I’m in need of some help here I have xl600r. Starts up good . Runs really good but she smokes like a damn train. It’s a crazy burnt smell as well. I don’t know where to start ??! Any suggestions
Danny Sosa, Read your manual to see what the compression should be and then run a compression or leak down test to see if you have enough compression. Typically, an engine will start smoking because the rings are going bad. I'm not familiar with your bike but that is where I would start at atleast.
There are products from Lucas etc for valve guide seals. Must be a motorcycle product since oil and clutch use the same oil. (Auto products may cause clutch slip).

I see my prayers have been answered
We have just about an identical Harley Davidson golf cart it’s just green
I bet it if you just run a home through it slap a piston and rings in it you might be surprised at how good it’ll still run and how good of compression it’ll still make

What year were yours? I think they are pretty cool for the simple fact Harley Davidson made them.
My grand parents had one of these growing up at the lake, so many good memories on that ol bug
"Missing the battery it looks like" hahaha Joe you crack me up.
Oh he was serious ..
the forward and reverse is a switch it lets the starter turn the motor backwards to get reverse the motor was made to run both ways strange motors they sell for 1200 to 2000 running over here in Canada well worth putting money in it
That’s what I noticed too that forward/reverse lever wasn’t on cable linkage it was electric connections. Pretty cool!
That thing is pretty cool someone would pay good money for that restored 💯✌
Got to love it when he pounds away on the wrist pin without bracing the rod.. if it was good.. it isn't now
Alot of the older stuff used oil bath air filters my TD 6 dozer uses one!
Be advised the small end needle bearings look uncaged, you may want to either remove them with a magnet or grease them so they will stay where they are at, if this is the case.
That was one of the fist motorized vehicles I ever “drove” as a kid
4:10 is a voltage regulator.
Awesome find! Awesome video! I don't think that golf cart came stock with front lights at all ... golf is not meant to be played in the dark ...
Bruh! That's a AMF golf cart! That's cool as hell!!
That cup on the gas cap is the 2 stroke oil measure, it should have a mark on it to measure out oil to a full tank of gas.

just fyi, put a magnet on the cylinder to see if it's an iron bore. If it is it's a simple bore and oversize piston.
Looks like something the guys from #carsandcameras would buy 🤣🤣

I wouldn't mine seeing like an old school harley build, harley had some kick ass vintage bikes! Awesome find brother!!
Seen it in the back of the other video was cool af
First to watch the entire video without any skipping
Nice New commenting Trend!
This is a great opportunity for an easy repair and a good money flip 👍🏻. Everything Harley-Davidson is in demand.
Batterys not included is an understatement 😆
That is a positive ground system. Make sure it is hooked up that way. Very important. Also, check your clutch assembly. Clean and lube if you want smooth operation. Tougher than nails machine.
That oil bath air filter system is quite interesting, my 1966C 10 with a 283 small block has an oil bath air filter system as well!
Its in really good condition too
Check the point on the little cover on the front of the motor they probably need cleaned

I've always love figuring out small engines
Shop looks awesome
Thank you!
Thats crazy bro love the vids i just picked on of these up
That little black box at 4:09 is probably the voltage regulator.
Hey joe u might consider on getting a small sandblaster machine at harbor freight there nice for smalll jobs and u can clean a lot of parts that’s all gunk up like on this for an example well worth it
Nice had one when i was a kid
The tube on the underside of the filler cap is actually usually a measuring cup for 2 stroke oil.
Wow that is really cool
that preddy in the back 👀
Very neat project.
That thing you was wiping the dust off of I do believe is a voltage regulator. In one of the comments over charging was mentioned that regulator would be the first thing to check?
Hey 2vintage, you know that’s from west world? The one with yul brenner in 1973? Where are you at? I’d love to buy it restored! Thanks!!
The I dunno what that is box, is an external voltage regulator similar to an old vw beetle.
That thing is a gem ,hope u know what u got brother 🛠🙏👌
Best part of an oil bath air cleaner is nothing ever builds a home/nest in there! Pretty sure that gas cap is to measure the premix oil.
Nice one.
Yes I knew we would get a video on this I seen her hiding in the back ground of the video on the 400EX
What size and volt battery do these use mine is missing
It's a voltage regulator 3:59
Very interesting looking rig...
Those circlips don't seem factory.

@@302mustanggt8 true but thats why I prefer electric these days...except off road stuff lol be safe my friend :)
Looks like you can get it bored out or resleeved and just get a bigger piston.
Hi can you send the link where
You got the rebuild kit I can’t find it
Good luck finding parts for that old relick
Wow I didn't know they sold aftermarket parts for those Harley Davidson golf carts
Great video
You need to save one kawasaki kfx 700, another great video!!!
That gas wasn't too awful. When it comes out looking like orange Gatorade you know it's OLD
I would think a little chuck of clip is in the bottom end. Time to split the case. Or can you probe it with a magnet.
Would love to see it running
You might not get spark with the engine cover up. A bit like a ride on mower safety type thing
There is an oversized piston on offer up, in Ohio for 48$
My neighbor has the same Harley golf cart
I think the engine is made by aermacchi in Italy iirc
Things sick
You seem a bit happier in this video
Use a Bungie cord thru the bearing hole and hold upward pressure to spin the engine over to keep the rod from smacking the cases
I worked for a man who had one it was just like that one the one you have is the only other one i ever seen
Wow, that is super cool for what it is. I had no idea Harley made these. Are these carts a rare find?
How many cc is it?
Hope to see ya ripping around that pacesetter 3 wheeler 😎
Its always so satisfying for me to buy someones junk and get it running and selling it for double the profit
Why dont you bore it out if a steel liner and get a piston to match
Do you still have your Yamaha vmax 600
that chassis is ripe for a quarter scale functional hotrod!
He is using metric tools. Pull the SAE out. It's a Harley
doesn't that reverse & forward switch just start that two stroke in the direction you want to go,,,,two stroke motor runs both directions ???????????
Normal 2 stroke no. Because of the ignition Timing. But this one does!
@@levisylvester You'd be surprised how many do,,we tried it with a FS1 50,,after seeing a race bike somehow bump start in reverse on the track,,FS1 ran by pulling the back wheel in reverse,,it amazed us,,we were about 12 or 13 yrs old,,,,
@@anthonyhestermann2326 LOL. Maybe it has something to Do With the igniton System. Electronic ignition works probably in Both ways.
Black box is a voltage regulator
Mustie1? You got younger.... Lol
More like the Sorcerers Apprentice!
You can screw your bolts into the cases and cris cross rubberbands through the connecting rod and turn it over
It's a voltage regulator 🥴 now put a monster engine in it 😁
Part number for the piston/rings set is 22001-82.

Ever considered doing snowmobiles
Looking at buying one today actually. We will see
It will be worth fixing

Valve guide seals also change if doing rings anyhow

It's worth going with a new top end. No reason being cheap. They are not worth a ton of money but it will be worth more than you put into it.
I was wondering what that thing was sitting in your garage
Someone at onetime probably ran it on straight gas without 2 stroke added and seized it up
Jug and piston kit are cheap for those golf cart
Man we have an orange one in our basement that runs really good but nobody drives it any more because my niece got hurt on it
Love your videos
That Gas had No Blue Tint....
I was wondering if it was HD
💕
First thing you needed to do was clean the damn thing. Gosh what a dirt...
where is the 1987 yamaha yz 250?
dont think you will have that for long...even the name will sell it....nice find...
New piston/ rings hone the cylinder and send it it’ll run
