Shallow pot. Loose, chunky soil mix. Dry between waterings. Bright light. You can cut single mature leaves, leave their stem on, and pop them into the soil, the leaf stems will grow little tubers. Can also take a stem and curl it onto the soil, mist every other day or so, and roots will grow at the leaf nodes. I love this plant, which I’ve always called a “Rosary Vine”…..I have one that is over 20 years old. Sometimes I cut it back to soil level, and that helps to make the top fuller again. Such a great plant, and so tolerant of neglect.
Thank you..I am from Indonesia. I just got Variegated String Of Hearts and it is my very new experience about take care of these plant. I hope these plant will grow happily 🌹♥️
Interesting what you say about the light because I have this growing in a room were virtually no other plant will grow because of low light. There is light. But not a lot. And no direct sunlight. But this plant is happy ... Growing like mad as you say. Found it by chance in my local garden centre. Really love it.
Thanks for the tips😊 I ordered a string of hearts today. Im usually pretty good with string of’s except string of bananas. I think I need to repot that one since it’s drying up really quickly.
Thank you so much for this video. I have a varagated son I have had this plant for about a year but it doesn’t grow at all it grew about 2 inches when I first got it . Now it just doesn’t grow, should I repot it and what kind of soil should I use ?
I don't understand why but my SOH simply hates me. When I first bought it it was full on the top and was just about 6 inches long. Within a month it started dying on me as the strings were falling. Then I realised that the soil was not a well draining soil at all. I don't understand how did the plant shop manage to grow that much. I immediately repotted it with succulent soil mix and a little cocopeat. However, I could just save 2-3 strands from about 12-15 strings. All the others were goner. The problem now is that although the 2-3 strands survived, they aren't growing much. Just about 2-3 inches from the top and that is the same for the past 5 months. The top and old leaves are way bigger than the bottom/ new ones. They are extremely tiny. I am starting to hate this plant. Please help if anyone has any suggestions. 1. I water only when the soil is dry but mist it once a week. 2. Sits on the window sill outside on the balcony. So, it gets plenty of indirect sunlight. 3. I fertilize it once a month. Please tell me where I am going wrong.
Yours is gorgeous! I got one in the mail about a week ago, it arrived super damaged and basically every string is broken, the fresh baby hearts were shriveled up and dead, and now the larger more beautiful hearts are turning yellow and dying as well! I'm so sad! Any tips to save my baby?? Thanks for your vid!
Yes, they said it should be fine and to just leave it alone for now. I'm gonna keep my eye on it and if worse comes to worst, I will cut it all up and start it fresh. It really is so sad 😞😥 I hope I can avoid that.
Hey question :) I have SOH growing and everything looks good. What is really noticeable is that lots of flowers come out! Each pair of leaves produces at least one flower and sometimes 2 and 3 flowers. Does this indicate that the plant is healthy? Thanks for all the info
Ah that's wonderful! Yes a healthy plant will produce flowers! Eventually those flowers will die back but as long as the leaves aren't dying, you shouldn't have anything to worry about!
Thank you, I love these videos I only just found ur channel and just suscribed😁😁😁 im only 15 and my room is almost like a jungle 😂😂😂😂 can u please do dragon tails or pink panthers😁😁
Aww thank you very much! Welcome to the good growing family :) That's amazing! I wish I had gotten into plants when I was younger. I don't think I have either of those plants. But be sure that if I ever do get them, I will be making videos
hi! can you do a video more in depth about light and watering? like showing areas in your house that are considered certain types of light, fully explaining how to test the wetness of the soil on a bunch of different plants, etc. thanks!
Thanks for the video! I recently bought one and have been coiling the strands on top of the soil in hopes of making it full. Do you know if top watering would be bad for the strings and leaves up there? Also, I saw you mentioned pins. What kind of pins? haha
So far the coils haven't really ended up doing much on the top of the soil so not super sure.. I don't think top watering would be an issue unless you're watering so much that they're sitting in pools of water, which I'm sure you're not anyways! I just had a few pins laying around from something I swapped I think. But they're kind of like staples with long legs that hold the stem/nodes to the soil. But you can use stretched out bobby pins, just be careful not to push down too hard! Best of luck!
Hi - Thanks you for this video. It was definitely useful. I have literally two strings of the Ceropegia Woodii in my pot and they are about 18 inches long. I want to propogate so my planter looks fuller too. You say you give them a haircut often.. how frequent is often? like once in 2 months?
Hey, I recently bought this plant. It is growing like crazy😂, but my new strings and leaves are very bright green and the older ones are darker. Are those bright leaves and strings getting darker in time?
Hi! I've just got my first one! Do the new leaves grow close to the soil or on the end of the chain? The ends of mine look a bit dead so worried it might not grow
Oooh super exciting! New leaves will grow from the ends of the chain, not at the soil. If your ends are a looking a bit dead, you can give it a haircut back to where it's looking healthy and it'll keep growing from there
hi love your videos but on the SOH do i wait until the Moisture meter is completely dry registering a 2 I’ve had her for three weeks almost 4 weeks now and I haven’t water because then afraid to but she’s only registering a 2
Personally, whenever it's in the 'DRY' section I would water it. Especially if the weather is warming up like it is here, they will use the water faster. Thanks so much for watching! Best of luck
The vines on mine are thinner at the bottom too. I think that usually happens over winter when it's not producing as intense growth. I wouldn't worry too much about that. Yellowing leaves tends to mean overwatering, do you check the soil before watering to see if it's dry?
@@GoodGrowing I haven't tried fertilising it yet, i have regular indoor plant fertiliser but this is the only semi-succulent I own so idk if my fertiliser will work or if I should invest money into a fertiliser for just my chain of hearts. Also I have no idea what my windows are but I have a real sunny room and it sits about three metres from the window, also kinda shaded by a big rhipsalis
@@annikag6685 I use the same fertiliser for everything, including my string of hearts so I think you'll be alright! If you're super worried you could do it at half strength and like 1 time in spring 1 time in summer. That may give it the extra boost needed!
Hi! I love the video, and I do have a question. I just bought my first Ceropegia and should I change her ground and the pot now or should I wait couple days/weeks? Her actual ground isn't so good I guess.
Aww thanks for watching! I'm not totally sure if you should change the soil. A lot of people recommend doing that fairly soon after getting a plant so you can check the roots and make sure it's got nice fresh stuff. I personally don't do that but it's totally your call.

Thanks for the video. I just goy this plant
I got this last year and its grow sooooo much. My God I have to drape it over a piece of wood lmao. I needed this video.
My little teeny one is such a slow grower. Thanks for a great video :)
Thank you thank you thank you for always including celcius and metric ❤️
Haha no problem!!

Do string of hearts like bathroom aka steam?
Yeah I'm sure they'd love the extra boost of humidity, as long as they're getting enough light!
I enjoy your videos so much 🪴so informative and I love your sense of humor 🥰
Aww thank you that is so sweet!

I second this!
Yeah I can certainly do that in a future video! Thank's for the suggestion and thank you so much for watching!
Yeah!!!! I just got a baby SOH and I'm kinda scared because I don't want them to withered easily.
I'm watching different videos about c. Woodii in a row and I think, name "string of tanges" is suitable more... 😃
Yes I'd say string of tangles is a very appropriate name for them ;)

Where did you get the bottom of the pot and the string to hang it ?
This pot came with the saucer and I made the macrame hanger myself :)
I was wondering if it climbs on the walls
I have never seen them climb, so I'd say no.
Can you do a tour where you show your house and where each plant is!?💚🌱I’d totally watch it
Yeah I can do a house plant tour for sure! Thanks for the great suggestion!

Hmm yeah I think probably about that much, just when I think they're getting a bit too long for the space it's in
How or where did u get it?
Hey, I recently bought this plant. It is growing like crazy😂, but my new strings and leaves are very bright green and the older ones are darker. Are those bright leaves and strings getting darker in time?
Ooh yay exciting! I believe they do settle into the darker colour yes!
Good Growing thank you!
Can you cut/prune it when its too long?
YES! And I always propagate the cuttings to fill it in at the top!
