Hey Sis, thanks for this honest post. And fir speaking out. I am a healthcare provider, having had covidx2. Yes sometimes sxs are vague much like a cold. Make sure to stay hydrated, rest, and speak to your healthcare team. After my 2nd bout with covid I developed a blood-clotting disorder so again speak with your team. If sxs are severe take a OTC cold/flu med, or see your doc for plaxcovid. Handwash & wipe down EVERYTHING😊 Boosters and vaccines simply lower chances of death, not exposure. I'll have to keep the margarita taste-test in mind😂 be well, take care of you...keep us posted❤
Thank you so much for sharing your expert knowledge on testing and care after exposure. And just as I thought, subsequent exposure can be different and even worse than the first. So I still take it seriously. And yes, if anything, the margaritas were a good way to pass time. I recommend it! 😂 Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate you! ❤️
Well for us, we are 71 & 74 over twenty cruises since 2020. And no Covid, I believe the key is NO elevator, we always take the stairs. Now I know everyone can or won’t climb stairs all day, but it works for us 😀
We are more prone to contract Covid when we’re in crowded areas like the club. It’s better to be outside or at least inside where people spread out and air can circulate. Praying for your full recovery.🙏🏽
Agreed! Normally I don't go to the club. I usually look for the quiet nooks and crannies away from everyone. Which is probably why I stayed virus free for so long with so many cruises. Thank you!
To imagine you best cruise ever and mixing and mingling you caught it. It can happen to anyone and I’m happy that you isolated and you’re feeling a bit better now. Thanks for this vlog.
Agreed! It could have happened at home too. Yes, I'm feeling better (well, I never felt really bad either). Thank you for watching and commenting Le-Ann!
Sorry you caught Covid on your cruise. My hubby and I went on a cruise with our daughter and son in law last month and we both caught Covid for the first time. We had fever and terrible chills and headache and fatigue. We brought test on the ship and tested. W3 tried to be careful with wiping our cabin down and plenty of sanitizer and still got it. We also were caught up on our vaccines. We just quarantine ourself and were thankful for a balcony to help us not get cabin fever. We took the stairs instead of crowded elevators too.
Oh your experience was worse than mine. Great idea to bring tests with you and I will do the same now, especially since my allergy symptoms are the same. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
Hi SIG, I'm so sorry you caught covid. I hope you had plenty of time to rest up during this time. Glad isolation is your norm. It's like we all bring back small packages from our cruises now. Mild cases but still something to carry home. I'll keep cruising as well.
We have gotten Covid at least 2x on cruises - but we stopped testing and now we call it the cruise crud. You can get it anywhere now a days. Glad you are feeling better.
Yes I saw that too and didn’t think I was included in that number. But later found out I am! I had an extremely mild case and I’m fine. I’m just happy to know that I didn’t pass it to people I talked to like you! So far people that I know I associated with aren’t sick! 😊
I went on a cruise this year but wore my mask the whole time unless I was eating and I did not get Covid. I know of 2 people who caught Covid on cruises this year and they did not wear a mask.
That's great! I never wore masks on my previous cruises but I was always up to date on my boosters. Hung in crowds here and there and never got sick. But that's great! Everyone should do what they feel will protect them best!

We did a side by side cruise last December. We jumped on Carnival Liberty for 3 days, disembarked and jumped on Allure for days. We were part of the Facebook group for both ships. About half the people on both ships did get Covid. Some got Covid and the Flu together. We stay put of elevators, keep our hands washed and try not to touch our face. We also wipe down high touch areas in our cabin. We don't go crazy though. We have been cruising evety 3 months for years and we are thankful no one had gotten a stomach bug or Covid whike traveling. We fly to the ports too. I'm glad you are feeling better and hadca good time on Virgin. I need to try it, but I would have to go solo.
Oh yes, I highly recommend trying Virgin. Solo would be a great way to go. And yes, I'm feeling back to normal this morning. Yeah, I've been cruising more than 5 times a year since the restart and this is my first time getting it. I'm just glad it was minor. I never developed a fever or anything. I can relate to your story. In November of 2023, I went on my very first solo cruise. As usual, I flew in the day before and I was fine. I embarked on the ship the next morning, and I was fine. By the same night I was feeling a bit of a sore throat. I assumed it was from talking over loud music. The next morning I had a bit of a runny nose. I quickly found that I had a bad cough, and my runny nose was a lot worse. Also, I couldn't sleep at all; I was exhausted. As I have already had all 3 of my booster shots, I thought I just had a cold or flu. It wasn't until I returned home that I discovered that it was actually covid. I felt horrible that I may have given it to others on the ship but, like you said, the same thing could have happened at home just going to a grocery store, doctors office, or even a hospital. I actually believe that I either caught it in the airport or on the flight to Florida to get on the cruise ship. This will in no way prevent me from wanting to continue with my solo travels. Life is too short!
That’s what crossed my mind too…if I passed it along to others. I would hate to know that I did. And there are likely others who are unintentionally spreading it as well. But yes, the best we can do is be as careful as we can, but still live our lives!

Yep! And that's what I'll do...keep up with the boosters to lessen the effect if I should get it again. Glad I decided to talk about what it's like today and I hope it helps! Thank you, Lisa!
I caught the stomach flu virus 🦠 the Monday after Mother's Day this year. I vomited for the first time since December 2004 when I was 11. I was 30 when I threw up early Tuesday morning at 12:03 AM and missed work all of Tuesday and Wednesday and returned to work on Thursday. It was my nephews who I got it from.
Yes, there is more opportunity to spread out on a ship than on a plane. I agree. They say the circulated air is filtered on a plane, but still, it can be a bit concerning!
BTW from what you are saying, you had the virus BEFORE you cruised. What did you do 2-3 days before you boarded. I have a feeling you are the variant lol 😅 That’s the risk you take. It’s not like COVID will kill you now. You might have some long haul issues but don’t let that stop you from living life. I was crushing through the pandemic and it was the best experiences I’ve ever had. I think I took three cruises. 👍🏽 If you test positive while cruising and you don’t have major issues, just wear your mask.
You were on point with knowing when to test for COVID. I also contracted COVID after a cruise…. Luckily I normally isolate for few days when returning home to monitor any physical changes. I’m happy to see you are doing much better.
That's a good plan, especially if you're usually around family and friends when you get home. Because it seems you can have no symptoms while you're contagious. Yes, I feel 100% now and there's a very faint line on my test results. I expect it to be fully negative in the next day or 2. Yay!
I'm so sorry you got C19 but you handled it like a trouper. My solo cruise conesyup in a few weeks so I'll be extra careful. Thanks for letting us know that nasty little virus is still active.
Yes, it's still out there, even though it's changed a lot. But it's still something we need to be mindful of. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
You showed Covid, "You aint no punk." 😆 Jokes aside, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. This was a great vlog to remind everyone that the virus is still out there, and to be cautious. Thank you.
😂😂😂 I like that! But yes, that’s exactly why I decided to make this vlog. To answer the questions I get and to say yes, it’s still out there and here’s what it was like for me. Protect yourself as best you can but don’t let it stop you from living your life!
Oh nooo, Cheryl. Glad you’re feeling better. I always double up on Vitamins C, D and zinc 2 weeks prior to travel. I got covid after cruising in November. But like you said, it will not stop me from cruising. You can get covid from someone in the grocery store. 🤷🏾♀️
I caught covid twice, I live in NY. The first time 3/2020 and I was awfully sick for a month. Second time 9/2023 and I took Plaxovid and it helped a lot. I've cruised 3 times since 2023 and luckily I haven't caught anything from cruising. Feel better
So glad you recovered, especially back in 2020! It was much more severe than. And yes, I’m completely well now. Thank you so much for sharing, Lisa! ❤️❤️❤️
@@SIGCruiser Honestly SIG that was only my second cruise ever.I am new to cruising.I am 52 and girl I think I'm done with cruising .I wanted to try another cruise line other than Carnival but Nah!! ..I think I'm done❤️
I'm glad you're feeling OK. And glad to hear that you had a great time on Virgin Voyages. You are drinking margaritas so you can drink.. not because you want to see if your taste is back 😂. Just drink some for me! Cruise baby cruise 😅
Same- Seattle to AK this year - symptoms started on day 6 when I went down to eat and took a bite and couldn't taste anything- no other symptoms so how would I have known? Spent last few days locked in cabin, and when I got home tested and was a faded positive. Husband didn't have symptoms yet, but he tested and BRIGHT positive. Brother and mother who went with us, had their own cabin, didn't get it. The only thing I did differently was spend most of my time out on the deck in the clamshell loungers Oh well, it happens.
I finally returned to cruising last year and got COVID after my transatlantic cruise last year and again after my Alaska cruise this year. I was fully boosted and have decided that this is my body’s reaction to going from a sedentary lifestyle to increased activity! 😂 Fortunately, my symptoms were minor, just felt like allergies. Fatigue lingered for quite a while. I have another cruise planned for next year!🤞🏽
@@SIGCruiser Fortunately, they both occurred at the end of the cruises and were mild! I have to go on the next cruise. When my hubby decided he didn’t want to cruise anymore, I continued my plan to take 1 of my 3 grandchildren at a time on a cruise. Next year will be the youngest. After that, I may become a solo cruiser like you so I am glad I found you!
Aww. Sorry Sig. Covid was rough the first 1-2 yrs but it seems to have dwindled down to cold and allergy like symptoms. Oh no. The butter tasted like curdled sour milk? That must’ve been awful. And yes. Agreed it should be taken seriously. From folks I know had it within the past 2 yrs; it took about 10 days to read negative.
Yes and that's why I decided to do this video. Some people are actually still scared to death of it to the point that they avoid cruises. I wanted to share what it's like today.
I think its is bound to happen if on a cruise ship or not. Caught Covid in May for the first time ever and I was not on a cruise ship. Went for a Flu and Covid booster to prepare for my cruise in October.
In 2020 and 2021 when vaccines was required to cruise I never got covid. but in 2023 when it was no longer required and I was on one ship where people joked about knowing they had covid and didn't at least wear a mask to protect others, I got covid. In fact I got it twice on the same line so I no longer use that cruise line because the cliental that tends to have a lot of people who are a bit right winged and think Covid is no big deal. It took 2 months to have the stamina to even make a bed! On the bright side, I lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks and have kept it off! So I do think that the vaccines and the boosters and the lower ratio of cruisers did help. Now when I cruise I wear a mask especially on buses and I try to take the stairs instead of crowded elevators.
See, now that's a shame. Knowingly passing it to others. There are others with weaker immune systems that may not be able to handle even the mild symptoms. Not the best way to lose weight but congratulations for keeping it off! Mask and stairs sound like the best practices these days! Thank you so much for sharing!
Yes the same thing happened to me ,4 thday on the cruise i didn't feel good i thought it was the cold but on the 7 th day i left the ship i went to see my doctor i was positive for covid.I think they should test people that not good
Yes, if you're not feeling good, testing would be good. I noticed some others still bring their own tests onboard. I think I will start doing that too.
It really is now. But I think people still fear it like when it first started. While I wish that no one else got it, I wanted to share what's it like now if you do get it. Hopefully people will see that they don't have to fear cruising because of it. Thank you, Deb!
I tested positive last year after a cruise.Been on about 10 cruises haven't caught it again. I took meds my dr send the covid n meds to my local pharmacy. I was really sick.
I worked in healthcare during the height of the pandemic and never tested positive for Covid. It wasn’t until I went on a cruise is when I tested positive.
Me and my brother got Covid for the first time since the pandemic for Christmas of last year. We also had the booster shot so it really doesn’t matter if you get the booster or not sometimes things just happen. We both had a mild case it was more so like a cold. I didn’t have any cough my brother had a cough.
Thank you for that! Even though it's a mental security for me, deep down I figured I could still get it even with the booster. I'm sure I avoided it because I never really hang with the crowds. But yes, mine is really mild as well. Thank you so much for sharing!
Im getting that this is ur first experience with Covid, is that true? And i was a lil worried on doing my Long Beach cruise as i hadnt been to the west coast and i thought Cali was a lil more susceptible with Covid. I stayed prayed up and thankfully i came home just as good as i left.
Yes, TT, this was my first time ever getting the virus. I think it's everywhere and we can't let it hold us back from living life! Glad you had a great and virus-free experience!
You have very high tolerance level & probably no underlying diseases. The rest of us mugs been had it, Lol!! 😊. I caught mine (January 2023) in Walmart trying to open those plastic bags in vegetable/fruit area. Why did I lick my finger to open up that bag, smh! I thought nothing of it either. I just had a sore throat thinking it was strep. Until I had an idea, drink some orange juice- no taste. But I knew I licked my finger to open up that damn fruit bag. So I was kind of waiting for it. Would you wear a mask? Especially in those elevators. Not fearful anymore, but I have worn a mask on a couple of cruises, plus when I get on the train (amtrak), I definitely wear a mask
I’m in the high risk category because I’m older and have high blood pressure. That’s why I’m still very concerned, even if my symptoms are mild. I don’t think I’ll wear a mask unless I deem it necessary. I really mixed and mingled and went to the club more to show the experience. But that’s not my usual thing on a ship. Usually I stay seat from the crowds and take the stairs as much as possible. Never wore a mask and never got sick. I’m going to go back to that. Thank you so much for watching, sharing, and commenting! ❤️
I see my comment about getting noro was removed. It wasn't all negative either. Air conditioning filters in any building or ship is vital. Truth is inconvenient.
That’s what I through. Just returned from a cruise and tested positive for COVID. I had a mask on the entire time except to eat. Even though I got COVID, I believe that wearing a mask is a necessity
Nope. My nose runs due to allergies and has done so for years. Nose runs, eyes water. Even before the virus came about. And it's happened while sailing before, and I didn't have the virus.

Yes, it's still out there, even though it's changed a lot. But it's still something we need to be mindful of. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

I understood! 😃
You do sound a little congested, but thankful side effects are mild. Pray that you will be fully recovered soon. 😊
Yes, still a little bit of congestion but it's gotten better! I'm thankful for how mild this was. Thank you!
I've heard of others having the same practice prior to travel! And exactly. We can get it at home too. Gotta live life! Thank you so much for sharing!
I caught COVID too in August 2024 on the Horizon 😢
Oh no, Michelle. I hope yours was as mills as mine was! And I hope you’re back to 100%!
@@SIGCruiser Honestly SIG that was only my second cruise ever.I am new to cruising.I am 52 and girl I think I'm done with cruising .I wanted to try another cruise line other than Carnival but Nah!!
..I think I'm done❤️
Celebrity is my favorite line now. Mature and laid back vibe. Great food and music. 😊
I'm glad you're feeling OK. And glad to hear that you had a great time on Virgin Voyages. You are drinking margaritas so you can drink.. not because you want to see if your taste is back 😂. Just drink some for me! Cruise baby cruise 😅
Why, Liam! Are you accusing me of drinking just to drink?! I’m appalled! 😂😂😂 But yes, I’ll drink a margarita for you too! 😂
@SIGCruiser No im not saying that at all 🤣
@Liamshavingfun 😂😂😂
Wow...there's no rhyme or reason. It seems like being on the open deck would have been the best thing to do to avoid it.
I have another cruise planned for next year!🤞🏽
Wow...TWO cruises? I'm so glad you didn't let that deter you from cruising again! Yay for the increased activity!
So glad they were mills cases. And yes, I hope you experience solo cruising one day! ❤️
Aww.
Yes, it's still out there and I do hear of cases both on land and sea. All we can do is to do the prep that you're doing. Thank you for sharing!
Glad you are feeling better
, its becoming like the flu. Do your self care and pray alot ❤😊
Oh wow! I hate to hear that you got sick but so glad that you recovered! Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
I worked in healthcare during the height of the pandemic and never tested positive for Covid. It wasn’t until I went on a cruise is when I tested positive.
Now that's crazy!!!! Wow! Well I hope it was mild and that it's over. And I hope it didn't deter you from cruising again.
Same
👍🏾
Ironically, I caught the C-Bug at the tail-end of my Valiant Lady cruise back in June.
Aaaaahhh!!! Yeah. I know it happens on all ships though. So glad you recovered!
My birthday 🍦🍨🎂 was Tuesday, September 10, 2024. I'm 31.
Hope you were able to celebrate! ❤️
Seems that everyone has been getting it the past few months on cruises, including myself.
Yes, I know others who have gotten it as well, unfortunately. Glad you're okay!
What? Removed? I didn't remove it. Let me check.
It's there! It's on the post comments....not in these video comments! :-)
this is why alWAYS WEAR A MASK WHEN IM IN A CROWDED SPACE
Definitely a good practice to have! Thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️
That’s what I through. Just returned from a cruise and tested positive for COVID. I had a mask on the entire time except to eat. Even though I got COVID, I believe that wearing a mask is a necessity
Yes, at least you know you did all you could to minimize it.
We caught Covid twice on the cruise.
Oh no! Well I hope neither were severe. Glad it didn’t keep you from cruising! ❤️
Nose running for no reason is a clear sign. You were in denial .
Nope. My nose runs due to allergies and has done so for years. Nose runs, eyes water. Even before the virus came about. And it's happened while sailing before, and I didn't have the virus.
LOL...ain't this some bulllllllll
😂😂😂
Most likely it want be the last.
Thank you for sharing your perspective.
