I loved how you showed us the good and the bad. So many other youtubers make all their style choices look perfect and don't show when it doesn't work. Thank you for doing that!

Very nice journey back in time, thank you. You mentioned classic pieces to wear at 17 or 50. How would it be if you did a video of you and your mother styling similar classic pieces? That would be helpful and fun, too.

Last year I bought several floral maxi dresses because I thought yours were so pretty. Unfortunately I never felt they were “me” (I usually eschew girly looks) and wore them just a few times before giving them to Goodwill. It was a learning experience however, I bought them on eBay and did not waste a lot of money. I was heartened to hear you have evolved from that style as well!

What a thoroughly enjoyable video, as it really does show me that even someone who is as stylish as yourself can make the odd trend led, quirky mishap fashion wise, phew wee! I've been following your inspirational fashion advice since finding your UA-cam channel during lockdown and my style is evolving from very one off pieces (if you could call them that), that I didn't know how to put with anything at all to a much more capsule wardrobe of black, white, navy and grey. Gosh who knew getting dressed could be so easy and look so good? Thank you so much for getting me on the straight, classic and narrow. Lydia, please keep up the great work of looking chic in your timeless outfits along with your cheerful personality, as it's a winning combination.

I really enjoyed watching this video and found it very helpful in my own journey of finding my style. I have been loving your videos and the more classic, simple but stylish looks you wear in them. It's comforting to know that you feel you have made mistakes in the past and that you are still on your journey of refining your style. It has taken me years to learn how to style looks that I love on myself and learning from your videos has shortened that learning curve from years to weeks. I have much worse photos of outfits I used to wear over the years while I was trying to find my look and style than what you showed us. I am much older than you (65) but I still care a lot about how I look and dress. I never knew how to dress well when I was your age. but you taught me that it's never too late to learn and that style is a journey and not a destination. I feel I have finally found my style and looks, with your help, and I feel really good about myself. Now when I have a chance to go out, even to just the grocery store, I get compliments all the time about my outfits. It makes me happy and seems to bring some joy to others too. It certainly opens the door to conversation. I am using what I have learned to help my Mom revamp her wardrobe and update her looks. At 92, she still doesn't want to look old and frumpy! I've seen how happy it makes her to look and feel good about herself too. Thanks so much for sharing and reaching out in your videos.

I found this surprisingly enlightening, which I often don't do when people look back at fashion evolution/mistakes over the years. I think it is the fact that you really analyzed things is what it made it so helpful. One biggie in recent years, for me, was finally figuring out my palate. (I am an emphatic fall.) I no longer stray from the colors that work on me, and it has made a huge difference. Also, discovering certain things that work on ME, may they be trends at the time or not, and sticking with them because they are right for me. Case in point, the current wide shoulders. I am thin but have narrow shoulders and not much of a waist, and the shoulder pads (though I don't like the TOO exagerated ones) make my figure look a little more hourglassy, so I intend to stick with them, though as I said, not in the extreme version. And so on. Thanks for the video, as I said, it was helpful!

Omg, that was amazing. I grew up in the late 90s, early 2000s and man, I don't think I could find one single picture of me before the age of 25 that isn't maximum cringe : grungy low maintenance thrift shop grandma cardigans with skinny jeans and questionnable hairstyles 😂 I don't regret any of it, though, it was so much fun, thrifting, imagining, getting inspired by music and art... sigh* now with my working mom lifestyle, I stick to my basics but having two daughters, I look forward to their style journey.
Anyways, thank you for another great video, Lydia. You really nailed your style, and so young, well done !

Hi Lydia! I love your channel and your IG. Have you done a video on different denim styles and how put outfits together for each style? I would love to see how you would style skinny, straight, flared, colored denim, etc. Maybe one video for fall/winter and another one when it gets warmer where you are. I'm in Southern California, so it's usually warm 11 months out of the year. ☀️

Great to see your journey from young to where you are now. When I look back at my own, I don’t cringe at my teenage years (i was a goth!!)) but probably late 20’s I lost my with clothes for a long time. I was competing a lot for my county at rowing so spent most of my days in kit, it’s taken me a while to find my way back & as I move into my 50’s I find I am changing again, & you are helping me with that, so thanks lovely Lydia 😘

Delighted you did this video! It was extremely helpful to hear why you no longer like certain styles and why others are still something you would wear so thank you so much for doing it!
Another topic that would be really helpful, although you may have done similar ones before, is breaking down your thought process when accessorising i.e. understanding why you pick certain accessories over others for particular outfits e.g. a narrow belt over a wide belt, why you wear your hair tied back vs down (both lovely!), how to know when an outfit needs more or less accessories.
Loving all your content in this new year! x

I’ve just discovered all of these YT channels on style and I find you are one of the best! I was in a definite “rut” in regards to my wardrobe and you have totally rehabilitated my passion for style. Every morning I “shop my closet” and mix and match items which is so fun, then take a picture to document as I can’t remember what things I put together, lol, I’m 64. I inevitably get to a point with some things I just can’t be objective about some things I put together and would need another opinion. Would it be possible that you could do a video with people sending in photos with your assessment of their outfit? Also, maybe dress other real life people of different ages and body types on other videos. Love your channel and this video!

Loved this look back lydia and how you evolved. My main problem is when I was younger I was a size8/10but now due to illnesses I'm a size 16. For years I tried to dress as I was size 10 and it just does not work. Now I accept the size and shape and wear accordingly. Most of your style suits me except baggie wide trousers they just make me look huge but I have learnt so much from you Lydia. Never to old to learn now in my 60's.

Lydia, I thoroughly enjoyed this video!! I really feel a kinship with your style and cannot wait to see what you do for Spring and Summer. I find I am in my element during Fall and Winter with knits and boots and coats - but during the warmer months I’m at a loss for how to maintain that more masculine edge and I feel like my style often gets hijacked by the warm weather! 😂 Looking forward to your continued inspiration ☺️💗XOX

My mother dressed me very classy and timeless till I had my own money and bought my own clothes. I then went more boho but realised it was not me. I kept at it because my boyfriend loved it but he evolved too in a different style (we are still together) and now we both accept who we are and dress the way we want. I went back to more classy (is it my nature or my mother's influence???) I love minimalist with a wardrobe based on black, white, blues, some beige (bottoms only as it does not suit my colouring) and stripes are mostly the only print I feel comfortable in. I like to mix feminine and masculine, formal with casual but still do some mistakes as influenced by influencers/youtubers/ instagramers like you with a strong sense of style!!!

Thanks for sharing this Lydia:) thing is... most of your old outfits look good and well put together, even the ones you find cringe-worthy, because you naturally know how to build an outfit. But as you said, if you don't feel comfortable in someting, then there's no point wearing it no matter how cool or on-trend it is.

Fascinating video. Thank you for sharing. Love seeing your style journey. I only discovered you at the beginning of the pandemic so create to see some of your older ideas. One thing I wonder about, going forward, is your chunky Zara flat boots. I absolutely love them. So much so that I bought a similar pair, but I do think they are very on trend at the moment. It will be so interesting to see how you feel about them when you look back in a few years time. But until then, here’s to enjoying wearing them.
Carry on the great job Lydia. It’s so helpful to see your styling tips and particularly to see you wearing clothes on repeat. We really need this sort of influencer so that we can enjoy style whilst minimising our impact on the environment.xxx

It's OK to let your style evolve. Don't get yourself stuck in a 100% Total neutral wardrobe. Injecting a Fun Pattern is Mood Boosting. At 53, I can tell you that even classic items go in & out of fashion. You will look at yourself in pictures from your past & change your mind on how they look as the years go by. Remember, "What was I thinking" is relevant (appropriate to the current time, period, or circumstances; of contemporary interest), it will change thru the decades.😘 I saw pictures of myself in 1984 that look exactly like (minus the hair style) what you are posting on Instagram in 2021!
