Damn! That's not a suite, that's a full on condominium!! What an upgrade... Diamond status is exactly why I applied for the Hilton Aspire Card, over SPG's Luxury Card. The 150,000 sign up bonus didn't hurt either. I have Gold status with my Amex Platinum at SPG, so getting that card with its paltry perks didn't make much sense. But the SPG business Card is the way to go, if you can get it. I'll be in Paris at the end of the year, so I'll definitely see for myself, what kind of upgrades Diamond status will get me.

In regards to Hilton Diamond Status.... Do you have to book, let's say a Level 4 room in order to get upgraded to the Level 5 room? Or can you book a Level 1 room and get upgraded all the way to the Level 5 room?
You can book the less expensive room and get upgraded to the ultimate room BUT ..the issue is if the hotel/resort is totally booked then you get stuck with your inexpensive room even if you are diamond. The upgrades depends on what is available at the moment you check in.
But as a Diamond Member, you're still not guaranteed to get upgraded to the Level 5 room even if you book the Level 4 room, right? I'm planning on booking a week stay at the Hilton Pattaya on Thailand and just trying to decide which room to book in order to get an upgrade to a nicer room or even a suite.
Regarding SPG Gold status I guess it depends where you go and if the people that work there know the loyalty program well, but I went to Ohio Sheraton, and I was upgraded to highest floor and access to Sheraton lounge and breakfast. 😀
You can cook your own meals in this condo since it has a full kitchen with everything included. Hilton has timeshares where they have 1-2-3 bed for families traveling with kids or big group. Also you can visit the supermarket to follow your own diets :vegans, gluten free..etc Family of 4, 5 or 6 will expend a lot of money if eating every day 3 meals on restaurants.

Huge YMMV but hotels don't like upgrading you when you book through Expedia/Priceline/discount sites. Most hotels also have a "best rate guarantee" as well: hiltonworldwide3.hilton.com/en/best-price-guarantee/overview.html

Usually when you book you give your member number and it stays in the system by the time you arrived at the front desk. If for some reason it does not show when you arrive, just give them your member number.
Your status will be in your HH account.They will know right away except if the account is new or you book outside Hilton website and didn't enter your HH number then you will need to give them your HH number at check in.
