I've seen everything on UA-cam winter camping cluding drones ..feords..polar bears
This is the one that I've been searching for the most rugged down-to-earth cold-ass camping I've ever seen and the dude does it with his jacket wide open!!!
Kudos to you sir! The master of the cold winds!
Amazing footage and nothing special.. no drones. Just a tarp, a sleeping bag and a hamburger!!!!!!!
ya me too this is great!
To be fair I did have long johns on and a hoodie. Thanks for watching!
And chopped wood
Yes thank God for the chopped wood too because in that 50 plus mile an hour winds I got so much heat from it 🤣🤣🥵
That is the most rugged camping I've ever seen on UA-cam great job:)
Thanks for watching. Biggest challenge so far.
Agree
I also agree!! Grrrrr!!!!
Brrrrr!!
Your video really captured the brutal reality of blizzard conditions in an emergency situation. You showed what an individual needs to do in order to survive the night in sub-zero temps with minimal gear. Thank you, you’ve provided an invaluable service brotha
Most realistic survival video. No complicated tree structures, expensive gear and cooking show. Only what you need.
No cooking show? -You didn't see him cook that burger? :)
This never gets old.
Man froze his sack off and didn't bitch at all. Great video my good sir.
Whoop
He said he was warm all night in his brand new -10° rated sleeping bag.
How is that freezing his sack off?
yeah i'd be Bitching my ass off , lol
He's in his back yard...15:44..can see porch light in the back
Never said I was out on a mountain I actually mentioned where I'm at and you see a pole light roughly a mile away at my neighbor's farm
This looked and sounded like a real blizzard, unlike many winter survival type videos here on UA-cam. Well done, sir.
It was definitely a real blizzard. One of the hardest videos I have made. Thanks for watching
i agree, one of the EXTREMELY few real blizzard videoes online.
This one was 100% real and probably the hardest video I've done.
I love it
Pretty sure that was a snow machine LMBO jk
Sitting on my couch in my comfy house remembering my homeless days.Strangely enough i miss certain aspects of that life.Especially sleeping under a tarp in snowstorms.
Thanks for your vids Man😊
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching and your support!!
Super video
@@jessicaoakley2892 thanks
Wow
👍
Myself and friend camped out in 17 degree wind chill weather once for three days. By a lake and I can tell you it got cold 🥶 real quick when the sun went down. Props to you sir.
Holy cow. I'm just not that brave. Those conditions are deadly, and I was scared just sitting here at home watching it. I am always impressed by you guys that just go on out there and face mother nature at her worst. You've shown that in an emergency situation, remaining calm, putting up some sort of shelter, and getting a fire going can and will save your life. Great video
It's not deadly at all. It's all mindset.
Dude you are a living proof even a minimal equip in such a harsh condition, it still make do.. badassery
30 years ago I was wandering Europe by foot before I made my farm.
This video reminds me of the beginning of that journey . I watch this over and ovet again just not to forget where I came from.
And how much I loved it
Made me really appreciate the value of a shelter designed for wind.
Y'all are one tough dude ! I just subscribed because this is real bushcraft and I like that. Very few of the other guys on youtube could hang with you in conditions like this. Keep making those videos and I'' keep watching !
That was useful, emphasising that things don't always go to plan and you do your best to make do. Well done. 👍
Props to you for going out in that weather for a video.
Thanks
Just showing with the Right minimal gear if you were cought in a storm or blizzard you could survive!!
@@Ryanoutdoors Thanks for your video. As you said in another post, this video was just to demonstrate getting caught in a unexpected blizzard situation with minimal gear. I keep a 10x10 blue tarp and basic gear on a couple of my four wheeler ATV's more for fun or a rainy day. A lighter, candle, cereal bars, aspirin, toilet paper, instant coffee, 1st aid items, etc in a zip lock bag. I keep a small flashlight and whistle on each of the key rings, and I usually have a couple bottles of water with me when I ride.
You're brave!! Be safe out there. Thanks, Ryan.
What an amazing video. Shocking conditions. You remained extremely positive. Great watch! Lee from the UK
Thanks for watching. It was definitely a challenge. Thoughts of tapping out we're definitely in my mind.
Props for taking one for the team and filming this for our pleasure. I’m cold watching this and I’m under my blankets. I think you might have some Superman in you.
That looked hardcore. Respect to you for sticking it out. Many thanks from the UK 🇬🇧Ben
That was definitely an interesting trip! I appreciate you checking it out!
One thing for sure my friend, you got balls of steel!!!
if they were made of steel I think they would be quite cold LOL thanks for watching
Just showing with the Right minimal gear if you were cought in a storm or blizzard you could survive!!
@@Ryanoutdoors I don’t think I would have survived. You are one rugged guy. 👍🏼👍🏼
Could be one of the best Blizzard UT I have seen so far. Loved it from a warm house . thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching if you haven't already please consider subscribing.
Warm house and comfey bed
Thumbs up all the way! Imagine being on the short end of stick and trying to survive 👀you demonstrated it very well the best yet👍
"That kept me warm for a minute."
That’s pretty raw man I’ve seen no other on UA-cam try that
Anyone who camps out with that minimal equipment and clothing in these conditions deserves a subscribe and like ! This is how camping used to be, before all the high tech and wimpiness kicked in lol. Way to go, keep it up.
Ummm I'd rather be a wimp than freeze to death!
And how. 😒😒😒
If you have the proper gear you won't freeze to death 😉
How what??
Well having done a few dayes of camping in my life I would say that that camp could be slightly more professional.
I bet that was the best tasting burger ever!!!!
This is truly my dream come true. It’s weird I know but there is something very alluring about this!
That’s a hell of an overnighter, outstanding adventure. Very well done!
I spent about 9 1/2 years in the backcountry in the western U.S. when I was younger. I wintered out two winters with minimal shelter.
I thought you toughed it out well, which, sometimes when you don't have time or energy to make a proper camp, is just how it goes. One suggestion I would make, if I may, is next time bring more fat to eat. A nice big chunk of sharp cheddar and a half stick of butter or some bacon would have been possible choices of mine if possible. The reason is because I have found that you can take a lot more cold if your body has ample fat to burn. Just my personal experience. The second year I wintered out I took a LOT of fat which I shared with my dog and we ate with our meat (which is of course mostly very lean in the wild) and we both did a lot better. Loved the canvas outer sleeping bag. That was my choice for outdoor winter camping because its so much safer around fire. I'm getting a bit long in the tooth for TOO much adventure these days. Good video. 👺
what's your take on Bigfoot?? serious question?? with your background in the Backcountry.
Well just because we haven't caught one doesn't mean there isn't one or a whole family. I have seen and heard weird things out in the woods and I couldn't tell you what it is could be the wind could be an animal just making a weird noise I don't know I'm not going to dismiss the possibility.
@@markcolby2927 Bigfoot is blurry, and that's the whole problem! It ain't the photographer's fault!! RIP Mitch Hedberg...
@@markcolby2927
Quite honestly I don't think there is such a thing as bigfoot. I spent many years alone in the mountains and I either saw everything that lived there (and probably ate it) and/or found its bones. All of the hunters with scopes and rifles hunting every year, all the game cams, not one set of bones and not one kill or decent game cam photo, pretty much speaks for itself. Could I be wrong? It's theoretically possible but extremely unlikely. Just my opinion for what its worth. I am less afraid in the woods than I am on your average small town streets.
@@ridesmule2824 Thanks for the input. I'd like to believe there is, but just don't see the evidence.
Quite the extreme camp out.. Nice work Ryan
It was a blast. Wish I what have had more daylight so I could have short the tarp up a bit better instead of waking up covered in snow
Hard core man! I love camping out in snow storms
Looks cold but great, as bad as the weather is It looks like it was awesome to be out in it.
Kudos to you for toughing it out in fairly extreme conditions. Also, kudos to you for having gear suitable to the conditions.
Thanks for this video!😎💙💛
What gear? Tarp and hamburger.
@@ronaldgordien6840 A tarp that can take the wind, stout Winter clothing, a strong knife of fair size, dry firewood, fire-making accessories, food, and a very good sleeping bag.
Yes, proper gear. Otherwise, he likely would not have survived.

@@Ryanoutdoors Lest there be any doubt, I want to express my thanks for this video, as well as my admiration for your ability to master the fairly severe conditions depicted. Thanks and kudos!😎
Brave man! Not afraid of adventure! Best video of this nature!
Big medal for this one my friend, seriously proper camping, loved watching though………😎🏴
I had to pause and grab my blanket lol Merry Christmas Ryan.
Lol. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well. Thanks for watching!
It's summer now and I still snagged a blanket to watch this.
No phoney business that looked real cold. You were really roughing it...kudos. Keep up the videos.
Great video, I like the bushcraft and camping videos in bad weather , rain , blizzards , windy days . It is the atmosphere of nature with the outdoor camping experience which adds to the adventure. I just subscribed too, I hope to see more of these storm camping videos.
This is the greatest blizzard camping video of all time lol. I've seen quite a few.
Thank you
I believe the term hardcore camping has a new meaning now. Hats off to you bro.
When you can pack out drag out in this shit you can sleep anywhere!! He said he brought a burger!! You mean a ice cream sandwich!! My lad i love you for this video good stuff
That Weather And Situation Was So Extreme That I Forgot To Say: HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIEND AND SAFE EXTREME CAMPING
Happy new year 🎉
I can feel the cold air❄️❄️☃️⛄
It was very cold but thank God I had a great sleeping bag!
I came to say I could find no reason to do what you did. But I read your answer and now I think you are one brave man. I thought I would never go camping with you but now you are the only one to be with under those conditions.
People get caught off guard all the time. If you have proper gear you'll be fine ☺️. Thanks for watching!!
This just showed a example how rough it can get outside in the bush !!!!
When the snow blew under the tarp and onto his equipment it made me absolutely shiver 🥶 Great video, I’ve subscribed ♥️ 👍
It was coming from every direction!! Thanks for watching and subscribing!!
Made me shiver too!
Thanks for watching. It was a blast 🤠🤣
Omg , that was hard core. Much respect.
Just trying to show people with the proper minimal gear if you get trapped in a blizzard you can survive. Thanks for watching!
This is an inspirational video! Thanks for putting it together.
Loved it, Ryan! That's the kind of weather I like, would be perfect if you had a dry bivvy and a warm sleeping bag. Like a little bedroom you could retire to and read or listen to a pod and be insulated. Seeking refuge in terrible conditions. 💨🌧🌪🌨🏕🔥🌲⛈👍
Propane Buddy heater under the tarp, pointed at the bedroom. I might stay a couple days. If I could. I'm a little bit handicapped, but I like to imagine.:)
I actually have one but I wanted to show that you can survive with minimal gear! Thanks for watching! If you haven't already please hit the subscribe button and thumbs up also the notification 🔔. It really helps my channel grow so I can do bigger and better videos and trips!!
Just found your channel. Love it!
Wondering why you didn't set up a poll barrier for the wind? Maybe late start. But love the video
That, sir, was the most intense camping video I have ever seen. You are BADASS!!!
The best blizzard bushcraft video ever!
Thanks for watching just trying to demonstrate that with the proper minimal gear you can survive a blizzard
Nice! I love being able to go on this adventure with you from the comfort of my couch!! 😂 😂 Merry Christmas Rob
Lol. Merry Christmas to you. I wish I could have gone on this adventure from my couch lol definitely a heck of a challenge
@@Ryanoutdoors Looked a bit chilly 🥶 but awesome video nonetheless. We’re heading out on a trip tomorrow, may be a little snow, but nothing like that!!
Yeah I think it's safe to say that winter has arrived LOL some areas in Minnesota recorded 70 mph plus winds with the storm
@@Ryanoutdoors That’s intense brother, I would say winter is here indeed!!
Great video, that was an extreme overnight. A small backing stove or esbit type stove would be nice to get you a cup coffee in the morning given how cold it was.
I was going to bring my twig stove but couldn't find it ... Thanks for watching
One of the all time greats. You're there with Ryan all through. Superb
That wind would put half asleep, love listening to high winds, great video brother keep it up 👍
This was so much fun to watch. I'm surprised your teeth didn't chatter at all--neither before or after you got the fire started. Brrrrrrr. Lived in FL all my life and I consider 50 degrees bitter cold.
That was really some rugged weather. You made it through that so you can survive anything.
Hardcore buddy….tough conditions. Thanks for taking us along!
It was a bit rough 🥶 thanks for watching!
Finally found a real camper. Subbed
Respect from Pakistan sir 🇵🇰❤️👍🏽
Great shelter video in blizzard 🌨and also i saw you have PARACORD GERBER KNIFE ❤️
Best camping video ever! You're terrific!
Thanks for watching
Most harcore winter camping video I've ever seen. Personally, I thought wrenching on airplanes outdoors in that kind of weather was memorable.
This though. is totally badass.
Your definitely a much braver and tougher man than I am I love my nice warm bed and blankets on a stormy night like that cheers to you
Looks like it is storming in your shelter. Man, has to be freezing.
While stationed at Minot, N. D. while at one of our sites. I was a supervisor. The heating at the site was not working hardly at all. I slept in back bedroom, and another very cold night. So cold I slept dressed and in a sleeping bag. Cold of - 40 not uncommon. Thanks retired and old, but dues paid.
Why not Minot? Freezin's the reason. 😁 Thank you for you service, I was Airforce.
This is my kind of fella…flat out tough son of a gun. No gloves, coat open…a tarp? He stays in good spirits the whole time. Amazing good fun!
Hey thanks for watching! It was a tough overnight but I had the proper minimal gear!! Don't forget to share, like and subscribe 😀
Wow.. kudos to you for enduring that👊🏻🥶

Best wishes from Keith. A 70 year old camper from the UK.
All the very best to you.
Thank you I greatly appreciate that! I would love to sit down for some coffee or tea and listen to some camping stories of yours.
@@Ryanoutdoors . . You are very kind Ryan. . When I was in my early 20's. I worked in the forests of northern Scotland. Tent camping in the forest, as I could not find anywhere to rent. I worked there in the forest for 3 months. It was often 20-30° below zero. So I know what it takes to endure hard weather.
Now I am alone and in my 70's, I'm getting back out camping. To help my poor health, by reconnecting with nature.
Have just bought a UK army basha tarp. As I must lighten the load I can carry.
Will chat again I'm sure, but thank you for getting in touch. My respects to you Ryan. Please stay safe, and carry on enjoying the wonderful outdoors.
I shall keep a good eye out for you my friend. Take good care of yourself. Best wishes from Keith.
Beauty.
I did the blizzard of '95 on the Appalachian trail w 4 season gear. Thunder/lightning, wind. Snow up to my waist on the way out the next morning. Didn't dig hole wide enuf, kept packing, pushing the tent sides out.
Biggest fear was falling trees-
Cook? Walked in with 15 McD breakfast burritos. Coffee of course.
Thanks man !! waooo this is what we're looking for ... I really felt like I was there ... everything is perfect .... I'm gonna keep watching it for ever
I enjoyed This video more than most preparing ourselves for surviving while unprepared is really what we’re training ourselves to do truly one of the better videos teaching or self self-discipline so easy to throw the towel in and go back inside he stuck it out which makes you better prepared thank you
Not sure why just now I have found this video. I usually watch bush craft videos all the time and do a decent amount myself. Never on video but just for the experience. What amazes me about this, is the confidence it gives the average guy who wants to get out there and try some bush crafting. You are not some survivor man type person. You struggled like we all do, it was real! And I loved it. I would be willing to bet this experience you shared with the viewers gave someone the confidence to get out there and try it! Great Job man, harsh climate, harsh weather, and a damn snow drift next to your head! Loved it!
Thank you. I always try to show a real experience in my videos I don't try to show just the good parts when editing I'll leave the mistakes in there also and the struggles. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it
That’s insane those elements to keep exposed like that, I never had luck with canvas bags in extreme cold. Great job man
Thanks for watching. That's a very good sleeping bag I have another one that isn't canvas from that company that is rated -30 I believe and I swear by them.
Exactly what I was looking for. 👌 Fantastic job brother 🤜🤛
Finally, a real survival video. No gourmet food, hot tent or casual snow. Well done!
Thank you glad you enjoyed it 😊
Definitely looks cold! ❄️❄️❄️🥶 but looks so cool! Love!
Thanks for watching. It was definitely an experience!! Merry Christmas

rough night. A good ad for whatever sleeping bag you use.
hardcore .... you put ur life on the line for this video ; all i can say is you THE MAN .
Well you do put yourself at risk every time you get out of bed in the morning every time you get in a car. This video is to show that with the proper gear you can survive
Nice to see a video that addresses the practical aspects of dealing with an emergency survival situation. So many so called “survival “ videos spend huge amounts of time building some sort of bushcraft shelter. In a true survival situation, you would freeze to death before the shelter was finished. The moral of the story is, carry a tarp, regardless of whether or not you plan to spend the night. If things happen to go sideways, it can save your life. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for watching if you haven't already please consider subscribing. the point of this video was to show with minimal gear if you were trapped in a blizzard you can survive
@@Ryanoutdoors The key is to be able to stay out of the wind and stay dry. If you can do that, you can handle extremely cold temperatures. Conversely, if you get wet and exposed to the wind, you can develop hypothermia and die in temperatures of 35 to 45 degrees F.
You sir have my deepest respect. Last time I camped out in weather that bad was back in '78. I had to dig a quinzee ( actually, more of a trench ) draped my tarp across it and punch a ventilation hole on the leeward side. Fire, now that was a challenge. To put this into context, I was 16 at the time. I reckoned, it was just like, well starting a fire. Something I was good at. Took me several tries just to get ignition and many, many trips of grabbing what ever dead wood was nearby. I hadn't learned the art of processing wood yet, but I knew you start out small, build up to big. Anyways, to make this a short story, I ended up with a decent "fire pit". So come the morning... end result: The blizzard buried my quinzee camp except for two things. My ventilation hole, turned into a ventilation shaft. And the fire kept the entrance clear.
Sounds like a heck of a time
are you from northwest ohio? sounds like the blizzard of 78
No I am in Minnesota
Really enjoyed your video. Yeah I kept thinking if you could just get one more tarp up to block that wind and snow. Better than a suspense movie. Thumbs up!
