    The old format was much better with outs instead of a time limit. It allows every home run, like the 517ft one by Abreu to be enjoyed. Gives the players more time to relax and settle in to hit better too.

      Honestly I think they both have their advantages. I agree with you on your point, but what I like about the new format is that it keeps everyone into it, and we’ve been seeing a lot more home runs since they changed it. So I guess I’m neutral about it. Lol.

      That was also before they had the technology to accurately measure them. There's no possible way they could have known how far that flew in a matter of fifteen seconds. It is a proven fact that the estimations back then we're grossly exaggerated. That was also before they had the technology to accurately measure them. There's no possible way they could have known how far that flew in a matter of 15 seconds. It is a proven fact that the estimations back then were grossly exaggerated. I'm sure you won't believe me but I will give you multiple examples. There study done and you can find the article online with citations rather were they looked at a home run from Mark McGwire that supposedly went 540 ft but actually only went 480 ft. Don't get one from Jose canseco that went 538 but the actual distance was only 475. One from Andres galarraga that supposedly went 528 ft the actual distance was only 475 as well. There is also a great UA-cam video that shows numerous home runs that were claimed to be over 500 ft and then the use modern scientific technology with launch angle and exit velocity as well as the conditions for the day to determine the actual distance and you will find there that all of the 500 ft home run claims from back in the day where far shorter. Still very impressive I would say that ball was every bit of 470 or 480 but definitely not 517

      I hate when people say this. U must be like 16 huh? You’re referring to something that was 10 years before this. The 2000s were not the 90s. Hit tracker made significant improvements in those 10 years, they would talk about it before each season in the 2000’s. “New and improved tech this year, better motion capture, etc” it was the era of improving technology. It’s really not “back then” unless you weren’t alive lmao. If you watched this hr derby live, I was 8 when this happened, you knew that ball traveled every bit of 517. Right center was already 368, and that ball went a lot further than 140ft passed the wall. “I wiLl giVe YOu mUlITipLe eXaMpLeS” 🤓. You probably the type to say Jeter was a horrible fielder too huh? And just to let you know, they measure the ball as if it was traveling on a flat surface, meanwhile HR’s are gradually ascending up into the stands, so if anything, it’s actually more impressive.

    Carlos Lee was a very underrated player. Never had a bad season. Had 13 straight 80+ RBI seasons from year 1, and finished his last one with 77. Eddie Murray-like. Also never K'd 100 times in a season. But just a 28.3 WAR......

    • @robertanderson2898
      @robertanderson2898 Рік тому +1

      I know, wonderful numbers. Yet, he's barely hanging on the Hall of Fame ballots. See, they think he's somewhat worthy, but they're just going to let him go the 10 years and let the Vet's Committee deal with him. A 60.2 WAR is great, but only 2 All-Star games, one Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, and the HR Derby title (that doesn't help his case, lol). But there's also 1,453 Runs, 1,363 RBI, 1,476 Walks, 400 Steals, .870 OPS, almost 300 Homers, 2,500 Hits..... he definitely has the criteria for election.

      JimBrownski Baseball is straight up trash compared to even 10 years ago.. no defense, no true established aces, players are complete babies, no true stars, no base running and they changed the baseballs to induce more homeruns/offense (because it’s more “exciting”) which completely changed the game and now it’s just comical.

    • @ajk
      @ajk 4 роки тому

      @@thesprock5270 Funny steroid era was same thing, just different way on the home runs/offense. Some things truly never change, just cycle. I hate the speed up rules though, that DID change the game permanently, namely eliminating the 4 pitch IW. That and the other artificial tinkering with them too. I liked how for years, baseball really was not that different (sans the DH coming in the AL in the early 70's), across the generations. If you watched one game from one era, you could easily understand one from another. Now you can't. And that I find sad.
