    Michael B. Vercelli is the Director of Graduate Studies and Professor of Music at West Virginia University. His research focuses on the transmission and performance practice of percussive traditions of Africa and the African Diaspora. Michael has received awards for his performance and study of indigenous music and has released recordings with master Ghanaian gyil players Bernard Woma and Tijan Dorwana. His forthcoming text, focusing on the musical pedagogy of Bernard Woma, will be published by Meredith Music in 2024. Michael has given lectures, performances, and workshops across the United States, Mexico, Brazil, China, and Europe and is a participating member in the Percussive Arts Society, the Society for Ethnomusicology, and the International Council for Traditional Music. Michael is a Meinl Percussion Artist and a member of the Vic Firth Education Team.
    PASIC 2024 will take place November 13-16, 2024, at the Indianapolis Convention Center. With nearly 6,000 attendees, it is the largest event of its kind - exclusively focused on drums and percussion in all its forms - in the world.     PAS Classroom is a video series focused on quick and valuable tips and tricks for percussionists, drummers, music students, and (in particular) music educators. Learn techniques and strategies you can take back to your percussion classroom or performance in under three minutes. PAS Classroom is created and produced by the Education Committee of the Percussive Arts Society with contributions from other committees.
