I spoke to your Dad Just before he move to Florida..... we spoke at lenght. I first really got to know him in 1978 when I starteded working at Carl Goldberg Models... I flew against him many times in pattern, and the T.O.C. and he always beat me...:-) I have many many great stories. Your Mum is amazing. I know you live in Florida as do I now. Best to you and your family. Dave Patrick
Was good to see you your Mom and your brother at the Nats Tribute. I did not get a chance to come over and say hello. My Dad worked for Dave around 1987 for a short period while he was laid off from GM.
Future champion and childhood inspiration Hanno Prettner is in various parts of the video (Curare, 2nd place). In discussions about his much later retirement, I've seen information about a fall/neck/neurologic injury, but I see at 14:32 of this early video that he was already coping with weakness in his legs. He didn't seem to advertise his troubles and IMO that makes his successes even more meaningful.
I always heard it say that Hanno had Polio when he was a child and complications from this effected his leg muscles from an early age which steadily got worse over the years.
I miss those days.I love pattern planes.Today I fly a horizon Hobby's V800.Did Dave Brown really pass away?He was once the president of the AMA.I hope this isn't true,he was a great guy.I loved his Tipoeare pattern plane.I had a bridge UFO back in 1985.I love those planes .
Thanks for the video. My dad, DAVE BROWN (3rd place) passed away a few months ago. It was fun seeing a much-younger him doing what he loved.
I met Dave several times at the world championships...

The film quality is particularly good.
