I agree. Best coffee is found at shops where you don’t recognize the name. That’s what I always say. Also purely out of curiosity are you even allowed to say that as an employee?

I mean, ANY place that sells iced coffee and doesn't use coffee cubed is charging you for half a cup of water...
That's kinda the whole point of an espresso drink, isn't it? Like, you can just buy the espresso from them and it's a little cup of strong coffee. Most of what Starbucks offers is water and other sides for that little cupful, the Americano is literally one espresso shot and the amount of water that you desire.

I discovered this years back and my go to if I go to a Starbucks now is to always order with “light ice”. You’ll get 2x the drink with 1/4 as much ice as normal for the same price. It’s so dumb.

If you are ordering a latte or some kind of drink with milk, then you are most likely just getting more milk added rather than more espresso. Which means it’s not really an upgrade.
No they dont. They just dont fill it to the top. Thats what happened to me

I buy Frappuccino mix from a local gas station. I fill the cup up and use my own ice in a separate cup. I get 3 drinks this way and pay 2$ for it

This video is being suppressed in my subscriptions. It’s not even there. I have to click on the channel to see it.
If they make it with ice I ask them to remake it. I always specifically request with no ice but sometimes they still put ice in it. They even put ice in the nitro drinks which aren’t supposed to come with ice.

If your iced drink has no ice in it you're going to get a very different experience from the standard, the drinks aren't that cold before the ice gets added

Hey Vlad! Can you try using hot coffee with the ice to simulate what is basically a standard starbucks iced coffee drink? And also maybe compare the melting rate by simply leaving them out for much longer than 30 mins in the water. Basically try to simulate people just chilling and leaving their drinks be as they go about their work.
If they left it, it's probably melted and the the water would just be added to the weight of the drink as well, water.
@@sasukeuchiha998 The weight would have stayed the same. What we’re looking at would be the increase in water volume present.
The drinks they pour are not hot though. Only the espresso they use is hot. The milks or water will be cold and the syrup will be room temp. The liquid will be about room temp without the ice.
@@lancelindlelee7256 The difference in temperature would still cause the ice to melt even when other ingredients are cold. Ice is colder than the added ingredients and it would still cause the overall drink to be colder at the expense of the ice. Hence why you could get colder drinks by adding ice to it instead of just putting it in the fridge.
@@sasukeuchiha998lets do the fuckin math allright. in a tall plastic cup, 100gram of ice cubes equal to 100ml of regular water when melted. then i would add 20ml of sweetener (sugar or flavored syrup like vanilla, hazelnut, caramel) more than that will ruin the taste. espresso shot should be 30ml. and the whole liquid should be 200ml in total so you add 150ml of fresh milk. total weight should be 300 gram. maybe few more for the plastic cup.

I think nugget ice is more dense and that’s why it doesn’t melt faster even though it’s smaller.

I dont know dude, did starbucks manage to cheat thermodynamics? Because smaller pieces should melt faster as they have more surface to be in contact with liquid. That is some nobel prize level shit if they did
I imagine that once the surrounding liquid is brought up to a certain temp the surface area might as well not matter.

I prefer chilled beverages with NO ICE. Ice is just filler.
Speaking as someone who works there, kinda hard to have the drink be chilled when there's nothing inside of it to chill it.
The baristas usually have the milk sitting on the counter until it runs out because of how fast we need to use it, and things like the refresher bases aren't refrigerated. So if you're not getting ice it's really gonna be room temp, and get hot pretty quickly, especially if you get espresso shots in it.
Why does Starbucks have such a rabid customer base again?
Because it tastes more like sugar than coffee and people are too lazy to make their own drinks
Starbucks worker here, I ALWAYS make iced drinks with our light ice option unless requested otherwise. No one has ever complained
Wait why would you make a drink with light ice if they didn’t request it. Not everyone wants light ice, especially with iced lattes or americano. I don’t want to taste milky coffee.
@@pk7190 A lot of our customers are regulars that want it but don't always say it each time. With a ton of our sales being Refreshers this time of year, the drink won't be watered down by doing light ice. Some customers specifically ask for their drinks to have regular ice which are then made as requested. If the customer is in the cafe after ordering an iced americano or latte, I'll usually ask right there if they want light ice. With the ice changing soon to a form that will melt quicker, I'm sure light ice will be more popular than ever in iced lattes for customers that would rather a milky latte than a watered-down latte
I would be pissed if a batista did this to my drink! I already feel most Starbucks batistas don't put enough ice, so I order extra ice.

i'll just say this as specialty coffee shop owner : brew your coffee at home. buy $30k triple grouphead espresso machine and few more dollars for manual tools. fly to guatemala, ethiopia, and indonesia to get raw coffee cherry straight from plantation. roast it at home to dark brown. also you will need big ass coffee roasting machine and coffee grinder. imagine spending $30k USD for a cup.

I backed off mainly because their customer service was pure hogshit, but no denying some of their drinks are great, but I’m no coffee drinker and usually go for the mango dragonfruit lemonade, had to make a change pretty much and not regretting it
That's the same reason I stopped going. They kept getting my order wrong. I would get Starbucks before work and I almost always went with a black coffee. They would either forget my order and I'd be left waiting for it or they'd put cream in it.
