Chris was clearly a star for the way he handled himself, however mocking a woman who is publicly suffering from a major medical issue is not ok. Even if she is still gorgeous.

He wasn't mocking her at all. He didn't mention anything about her hair or a medical condition, that everyone's claiming. Go back and listen or read his words. It was a very innocuous and mild statement, and he mentioned her with regard and respect. You can't make up excuses for Will Smith's Behavior, or knock Chris Rock for doing what he did. He did what he was supposed to do and hired by the academy to do it. Anyone standing up for Jada Smith at this point is losing the narrative. This whole thing was not about her hair for her appearance. This was about the Smith family bringing themselves down to a place of shame and mental illness. Chris Rock deserves nothing but apology and honor for dealing with this situation like the professional that he is.

It is so bizarre to see someone justify an attack on someone else that is inherently unacceptable and unjustified. In the laws of the land we live in you cannot hit people for having your feelings hurt. The proper reaction would be to talk it out in a non-violent manner not to physically attack someone. And if you defend people attacking people then you're a pro violence and perpetuating a myth that hitting someone in the context which occurred during the Oscars is somehow acceptable or okay.
Yes, and there are layers to this. But put Simply Society would have complete break down if it was ok to commit violence against someone just because they said something that hurt your feelings. Imagine being able to respond to someone cutting you off on the freeway and giving you the middle finger by shooting them. There are plenty of situations where someone does or says something that another could find offensive and the answer shouldn't be violence.

Will Smith slapping Chris Rock was his pathetic attempt to win back his masculine frame after he lost it whe his wife publicly opened about her affair with younger man, made him responsible for the affair and drew a narrative that she was the victim of circumstances. But she didn't end the relationship. Thereafter his wife made personal statements after statements that he was a bad lover and couldn't make love to her in the right manner. She was clearly emasculating him. At this point she had become a probable dead weight. Will instead of leaving her stuck around like a love sick puppy chasing her validation. He might not have left because divorce won't be cheap and everybody would have blamed him. So he stayed back and got roasted. Now he is simply taking it out on others because he couldn't take his anger out on his wife. Will is a cautionary tale, he is the quintessential nice guy that other guy shouldn't become.

It maybe emotionally justified to the ones that can relate to feeling disrespected for the sake of fame. But...legally. Its only justified when the law feels it is whether it's breaking the law or not. Had he slapped a white man all hell would have broken out. I respect Chris for taking immediate responsibility for his actions, being non reactive and showing self control. Most of all not retaliating on his brother at all. As for Will, you seriously need a strong mentor with making damaging decisions based on emotions. He is still a great man, we all have weaknesses but at what cost are you willing to risk everything you've work so hard to achieve. That could have been resolved with a conversation.

I am shocked that no one approached the victim immediately after the incident. I'm disgusted that the perpetrator was hugged and supported and the victim was ignored. It is an indictment of the hypocritical and heartless character of the people who have supported the perpetrator and ignoring the victim They should be deeply ashamed of what a disgusting character they have.
The biggest hurt was to his fans of which I am one. I've watched everything Will Smith has done and he's one of those actors who can make a bad film acceptable (wild wild west) but now I'm not sure I'll ever want to watch him in anything again. I feel let down by a man I respected hugely.

That is all the indication one needs that Jada never loved or respected Will. If a married woman only has picks of herself on her IG, yet chooses NOT to include her man on it, she is indirectly advertising that she is on the market and looking for other suitors.
Something I also peeped quite a while ago, was when Will told a story about a specific birthday for Jada, that Will tried to make the biggest bday extravaganza in her life just in order to please and get her to see how much she meant to him. According to Will her response to his efforts was something along the lines of Will only putting in so much effort to satisfy his own ego. That drove home how little the things Will does mean to her.

I can honestly say I was not a Chris Rock the comedian fan. Always thought he was corny in that aspect but I felt and still feel so incredibly disappointed that he was humiliated in this way. Will should not have been allowed to accept that award. So unfair.
