I will say this: you experienced more of the surprise by going into it unawares than I did watching it on catchup. Because the catch-up told me ^exactly^ what it was I was watching. But for people watching it live they were told that the scheduled episode couldn’t run so they were showing a “new game show” instead. I envy you and those who watched it live!

I always enjoy Inside No.9. Some of the questions were well thought out like Roald Dahl's book Matilda- about an intelligent girl with telekinetic powers and abusive parents.

So many Easter Eggs in this one! When I was watching live the one that made me smile the most (besides the name of the gameshow and Biggins team name reference) was when Lee Mack added the "S" to the end of "Trivial Pursuit" which I think they even brought up the first episode series 8 too, lots of Shearsmith/Pemberton coming through despite their absence!

I know this was a year ago, but you seen/ read Carrie? It’s basically Matilda if Matilda never found a way to expand her horizons via reading.
Imagine what Matilda’s reaction to puberty would be if she was going solely off what her parents taught her - she’d be exploding heads left, right and centre 😂

Watching this live was cool they even made an fake advert for the next episode that was meant to be on that night. Then to be told a change in programing and we were getting this instead. However to be honest I worked out what was going on in a matter of minutes due to the humour and creepy family. I was just waiting for something to happen the hole episode, and wondering how many people switched off/ randomly tuned in to see a bit of a head ache.

We've had photoshoots, cast lists (they got Robin Askwith!), I'm sure I've even seen filming shots of it. And especially because it was supposedly set on a Number 9 bus (which Reece has constantly railed against in interviews) that fans were so excited to see the expected episode. Then we got this masterpiece instead!

@@andrewcoates1998 Yeah, tbh I'm half expecting it to be the last episode of the season. Or potentially even hold it to the last episode of Season 9, which is where they've said they're going to have a pause.

I can’t believe I feel for it! This would of been a good episode to sit on April’s fools day.
I thought that the Oakwood were too weird to be true, if that was a real mother & daughter (minus the supernatural shit) then they’d have sold serious issues at home
The thing is, it’s really like a simple daytime game show that the bbc would air. I wondered why I’d never heard of it.
I might secretly play this for myself family make them think it’s a real show

That had a great feeling of "something ain't right here", almost from the start, not least because I'm pretty up on quiz programmes and hadn't heard of this. Clearly the family were the biggest red flag, but there was something about the set design that made me think something was a bit wrong too. Although I didn't realise who was behind the programme until you suggested it and then I thought "Of course!"

    • @coopertkm

I do! The time slot was meant to be an episode of Inside no 9 set on a bus, then it was announced it was cancelled and a "new quiz show" was taking place instead (and it showed up on the TV schedule) I was extremely suspicious after the "live episode" a few years back and assumed this was an Inside no. 9 episode, but then about halfway through I was engrossed and let my guard down a bit as this was exactly like most cheap gameshows that are aired in the UK even though Catherine's behaviour was a bit iffy. The fact it carried on for the full length of an actual gameshow episode just threw me. Right at the end when the mother was struggling in the booth it flicked and I knew something was about to happen and then boom!
I was fooled, even though I knew (most of the time) something was going to happen. Full play to Pemberton and Shearsmith. Inside #9 has been going on for 8 series and it still surprises. Btw Noah, you've seen what 5 or 6 episodes. This series is brilliant, to this day episodes are surprising me, there's so many amazing ones you haven't seen but just for the record, this sis the first to pretend to be another TV show and they still pretty much got me. Please watch more, even when you know it's Inside #9 they never fail to surprise. I've heard there's one more final series next year....

for someone who understands narratives better than me, did the girl like her father and thats why she didn't bring him back in the earlier round so she could do what she did to mum?
It was trying to hint at the fact the mum was mistreating the girl but was the dad innocent, because the girl said she knew the rhode island question and was able to tell her mum answers but chose not to help her dad

    • @cjlister8508
      @cjlister8508 Рік тому +1

It seems like the decision to kill her mum was a spur of the moment choice. After the mum said that she couldn't go away, she says :over my dead body" then the girl kills her. So I don't think she was protecting her dad as such. I feel like the dad is a pawn in the family and just goes along with the mother. Maybe even the dad had been experimented on like the girl had?

    • @simpsons703

To me at least it was immediately apparent as soon as the first contestants spoke that they were actors. Just as it's very obvious when someone can't act, it's jst as obvious when an actor pretends to be a member of the public, it barely ever works, they always do too much. That's not to say that many are fooled by it as 'Ghost Watch' proved.
