THANKS SO MUCH for sharing this! I had no idea how beautiful Snowdon could be, having only ever taken the Llanberis path (I’ve only climbed it 4 times ). I can’t wait to not only walk this route and experience all this glorious scenery, but also to make some very special memories with my adult daughters too. I may be 50, but I’m determined to reach the summit again AND bathe in all of those waterfall pools 😁 Thankyou again for all your help and extra information, I feel the Welsh tourist board should be paying you something for your time !! Take care , Zoe from Warwickshire x
I did this the same month as you guys, it was a continuous climb and I really felt it at the end, a good challenge, but in that heat it was a tough one too, but, less used because of that 😎👍🏽
To answer your question, I guess it depends what you want from the mountain. Crib Gogh is by far the most spectacular IMO (especially for a winter assent), Miner's is the quickest to ascend, but you get some great views, and the Pig is good fun. It's a great mountain to be on from any path, and even if you take the train up! Looks like you had perfect conditions, nice video. Cheers.
Fantastic video! Me and the Mrs are doing the route this week. Don't think the weather will be as nice as your day but nevermind 😋 Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
It is a great video! Thank you for sharing. I was there yesterday, just 1h walk up to see how all looks. the video shown your little dog on the top, it managed so I will manage as well! :) views are breathtaking! Will challange the peak in May 22! Thank you!!!! Grzes With best wishes! Magdalena
went up the watkin path in sept, so hot it was unreal, thankfully i went ridiculously early so got up before the sun hit this side of the mountain. Best route imo.
I've done Crib goch to Snowdon and came down the pyg track. The visit to Snowdon before that I went up and down via the Watkins Path and loved the waterfalls on the ascent, and the fact on the way down you can basically walk down the grass and follow the stream back cushioning the knees in the process.
Super day for it 👍 starting so low let’s you know how high Snowdon ! Thx for the history of the path didn’t know any of that 👍😊🏴 Subscribed looking forward to more climbs
I'd imagine it gets warmer the further down you go inn the rivers, I've only done Crib Goch and was an epic climb :). A few freinds didn't make that route but we all met up at the summit, want to do this with my family and Watkin path would be best for them I feel.
Hey I have 2 very active / fit dashhounds. I really want to take them up Snowdon what route do you recommend ? Any tips? Do you just carry them in your arms for part of it? Thanks!
Our miniature Dachshund can get up the Llanberis Path without assistance but all other routes up we have had to carry her on several sections or put her in our rucksack
Thanks for watching, Yes its about 1.5 mile walk to top of waterfalls. Well worth doing just that part on a sunny day. I did a follow up video answering questions about the walk, the waterfalls and the car parking etc which is here. I filmed examples of the path so you know what to expect on the way back down just before we get to the goats ua-cam.com/video/Hju_yv2iRTs/v-deo.html
If you use what 3 words ///trying.january.tastier will show you were the path starts from. Its a about a 1 mile walk to the waterfalls from there. On a warm day really is worth a visit.
Nice video, it's a great route but not the best, I think the full horseshoe is an incredible route and widely regarded as a truly epic day out, I also like the south ridge which can combine with the Watkin to make a circular route.
I went back up the Watkin path and back down the south ridge and then back over to the watkin path last weekend, thanks for the idea, another great walk. Ill put a video up from it soon.
Does it feel “safe” coming down from the top down the Watkin path? As the paths seemed quite narrow, and if you had a trip the possible fall looks frightening and steep 😮
Hi I’m doing this on Thursday but not planning on going the top just want to have a nice walk upto the waterfall and do some swimming 💦 how far is the waterfalls and it is a hard walk? X
ua-cam.com/video/Hju_yv2iRTs/v-deo.html is a more recent video I did on the Watkin Path, Has more talking and less backing music on that video. Thanks for watching.
Thats a shame you didn't get to see any of the great views. I heard the train is running to the top now and the cafe is open again. I did a different route the other week which is worth walking if you go back again on a clearer day ua-cam.com/video/Hju_yv2iRTs/v-deo.html
what 3 words location ///trying.january.tastier marks the start of the path, if early enough is some free off road else pay and display other side of road. Is about a 1 mile walk then along path and you will then be able to se ethe waterfalls and pools. Hope the weather is good for you. Thanks
@@exitthehouse thank you. We planned to go up Watkin, parked in Llanberis and went to catch bus round. Bus driver said we have to catch two different buses to get there and next bus is in an hour!! We decided to go to Pen Y Pass by bus, went up the Miner and down the Llanberis path. Did you park at the start of Watkin path? Did you have to prebook? I want to go back and do the Watkin path. Many thanks.
Yes there is some free off road parking along the slip road just before the cafe 'Caffi Gwynant' if you get there early enough, we got there about 8:30 am and got the second to last space. Then there is a pay and display car park on the other side of the a498 road which also has a small toilet block (6 pound for day I believe). When I was there people were also parking on the nearby main road grass verges but you have to be careful with this as the police have been clamping down this year with cars parking in certain none designated parking areas around the starts of the routes up to Snowdon.
Thanks for watching, I did a follow up video where I answer common questions on the Watkin Path which may also be useful for you. We came back down the South ridge to join the Watkin Path at top of waterfalls on that route. Depending on fitness and the weather conditions aim for 3 to 4 hours to the summit. the link to the common questions video is this one on my channel ua-cam.com/video/Hju_yv2iRTs/v-deo.html
Did this other video with the same climb but a different decent. ua-cam.com/video/Hju_yv2iRTs/v-deo.html If your thinking of doing the Watkin I would recommend this route.
Hi, I did the climb with a different decent also on my channel here ua-cam.com/video/Hju_yv2iRTs/v-deo.html I dont have background music on that version which you would prefer. The alternative decent makes it an even better route to take. Would recommend this over taking same route up and back down. Gets you back to the same start point. Thanks
You might prefer this climb I did up Snowdon instead with less audio, and I also answer some of the questions Ive been asked about the Watkin path. Its the Watkin path on way up with South Ridge back down. ua-cam.com/video/Hju_yv2iRTs/v-deo.html
Very interesting vlog and excellent path to choose on a glorious day 👌🏻
It really is, thanks for taking the time to watch.
Beautiful footage. What a glorious day. We plan to do this path next year and visit the pools!! Puppy sky is adorable!!!
Thanks for the kind words, have a great time when you visit.

I did this route yesterday, I was not prepared for the challenge. It was exhausting, but well worth the struggle

llanberis path, miners track or rhyd ddu paths are easier with a family I would say, depends on how old and active your family members are really.
Great video mate well put together 😊😊
Thanks 👍
Great video very informative 👍🏻

For the regular hiker I think the Watkin is the best choice. Crib Goch is too dangerous, and Miners and Pyg too easy.
I agree

1.5 miles, no its a steady walk through the woodlands and then carry on following the path and your soon there.
