I have been hearing about these engines for a couple of years but have yet to encounter any in the wild. How does this dimensionally compare to the Cummins qsk19?
Although we can’t speak to how they dimensionally compare, the JD18 has a higher power rating, higher peak torque, and the best part is no aftertreatment
John Deere combustion strategy and EGR system is what enables the JD18 to comply with Stage V/Final Tier 4 without the need of an aftertreatment. They are one of the few manufacturers to offer a no aftertreatment solution for this power level.
@@SDIandBPS I was under the impression that SCR was mandatory at 75hp and above (at least that's what I was always told). Would you mind correcting my misunderstanding?
@@sccolbert I had thought that 750 HP and above there is no need for any emission requirements at all. Might be 850 hp..? But yes within the 75+ to somewhere in that range engines are required to meet emission standards.
