I don't get that so many people keep telling me that I have to go out mor often, they call me pathetic because I love to read and would rather spend my time with a book instead of alcohol, what makes them think their life is so much better then mine just because keep drinking without a purpose?! the funny thing is I know what I want to do with my life and those who keep calling me pathetic are also telling me all the time that they have no idea what they want to do with their lifes
IKR? I don't know in your case, but when it has happened to me, it's been (In their minds) so that I wouldn't miss out on life and its adventure. It is really hard to convince them that I'm actually enjoying myself quite a lot...
I only started reading in september 2015, at 19. I was always envious of people who could read for fun, I thought if I read I'd hate it so I decided not to, but then one day I picked up a book and never looked back, I love reading now it's my favourite pass time, I'm so glad I discovered it, it's really helped me with my mental health. and here I am 68 books later and still loving it! :)
hi I'm Iva, I have an older brother that is 19 years old now and I'm 15 I started reading last year and now I love it but he never read a book only the one for the school that he hated and so now he hate reading because of that one book. He needs to read because he has really bad grades at school and must improve his writing and vocabulary, Could you tell me some books that you loved so I can raccomend him? and I hope he would discover the world of reading for him and his grades. If it helps I can tell you something about his personaly such as he is a speechless person and really sensible but want to look like someone that doesn't care about anything. He plays basket and likes animals. Sorry for my english I'm not
Iva Skoko hmmm, I'm not sure like hailey said the outsiders is an amazing book, my favourite in fact! and the perks of being a wallflower, it's kind of a funny story, the sliver linings playbook, the hunger games, the divergent series, the 5th wave series, palo alto, I'm not sure because I'm mostly into contemporary / distopian, maybe he could start by reading some autobiographies by his favourite celebrities? :)
How I Became a Reader: Once, when I was 4 years old, I picked up this book called Fun With Pets and asked my mom to teach me how to read. She did. So yeah, that's how I became a reader...
When I was 13, I stumbled across this app called wattpad and downloaded it out of curiosity. There I found a book named The Last of Firedrakes and I loved it. Then I was like hungry for another good book so I found this book named Poison which was not quite my liking. After that I started reading Throne of Glass and was completely in love with it. Now I am 14 and can't live without books.
@@fatimaakamrann my story is similar, two months ago I started reading this book named a brilliant plan on Wattpad and the author post it on there for marketing purposes and there was another book in the series named brilliant actors and i was craving for more when i finished the first book that I pocked the second one up and then i discovered booktube and discovered ya and now I have a kindle and I can't live without books.
I've also been hospitalized for mental health issues -- a few times, actually -- and reading is what got me through it. Those hospital stays are awful. I kind of have a similar story because the last time I was hospitalized a few years ago I read The Bell Jar (fitting for a hospital stay, I know haha), and it totally sparked my love for reading again and got me back into it. It was the first book I had finished in forever because my mind was too foggy to really enjoy anything until that point. I really appreciate how honest you were in this video because I know it can be tough! I wish I could "love" this video instead of just like it! Happy reading!
I was 14 when I started reading and I hated reading too! But when I read my first book ever (eleanor & park) got me into reading. I loved it so much, after that I started to read more books. 💜
I loved reading since I was a young gal'. my favorite series to read was The Magic Treehouse , Amelia Bedelia, Junie B.Jones and so much more .I sorta stopped reading at the end of middle school , but I got back into it as I entered highschool. I'm never quitting. I love YA,contemporary, and thrillers, dystopias . everybody read Night Road by Kristin Hannah
I used to read a bit every day, then I suddenly stopped for no reason. Months went by without even looking at a book. One day I came across your videos and I have not stopped reading since. You just make reading seem so fun and interesting. Thank you for bringing back my love for reading.
Same..Reading changed me a lot! Untill 5th grade I wasn’t crazy about it but my mom would buy me books all the time and I read them but like after that,in my preteens, I didn’t like it at all and I would make excuses for it all the time...and than in 8th grade I kinda feel in love with it and it really did change my view of life! I am freshman in highschool this year and I am still searching for myself and the books help me a lot❤️
I just recently started reading when i stopped listening to music on the way to and from school (ear problems) so i just picked up a book then. It's only been a few months and i started pretty late (im 17 now) but i love it. My favourite part about reading is learning new things and taking the things you learnt with you through life and also just escaping from life. I'm an introvert and I worry a lot so it's awesome just to escape through a book. Being a very very visual person also helps, i love imagining the story.
this makes me happy , not alot of people talk about mental health and knowing that books changed you is refreshing . cause i noticed that i loved reading when i was younger but could not finish a book . i just started reading again. i have been trying to get somthing that could ground me since i have alot of anxiety . it has taken over my life . and since im reading i feel like i can go in a story and not be as anxious as i am outside of my home! your doing a good job and thank u for being you!
I hated reading books for school too but The Outsiders I had to read in middle school and fell in love with it, just re-read it recently, 15 years later, still find it amazing! Love the video :)
As a child I only read, and loved, Harry Potter. So I could say I became a reader after two distinct points in my past, but both ultimately led to the same reason. First, after I immigrated from my native country in South America to the US and second, last summer when I graduated college. At both points I was feeling lost and lonely and books became my savior and escape. After this second time I haven't looked back and I can't stop reading now, it became a vital part of who I am.
When I was little i constantly read, my mom always said the library was my best friend, i hated recess so would purposefully go to detention so i could sit someplace warm and quiet and just read (the library wasn't always open or had another class in it) Through out Highschool i didn't read as much, it was more manga and stuff like Post Secret, i hated assigned reading. Early college i picked up Harry Potter for the first time, and blew through that, but then had a massive book hang over to the point where i'd only read a book every couple months. Yet i still enjoyed the thought of reading, i constantly bought books but would just keep them in a pile until i was ready to read again. It wasn't until recently when a video of yours popped up on my youtube suggestions that I found booktube and got super excited about reading again. At the beginning of this last summer I created a challenge for myself to read 20 books based on the around the world in 52 books challenge, and started subscribing to book boxes, my boyfriend and I set about an hour of time every night to read now. I plan on having a booktube, but like you I work three jobs and go to school full time (and that's with out booktube) So I told myself to catch up on books and just read for this year, and after I graduate create a booktube, so i have time to plan videos out and talk about books in a way I haven't seen others do so before. So thank you Haley. For pulling me back into the excitement of books.
Was like you, I never liked reading. I would read on the odd times. My mom's favourite thing to do was read. When she passed away I decided to open a book. And till this day I have read 22 books in 3 and half years, I keep buying books, and I use my mom's memorial card as my bookmark. I started reading cause my mom loved reading.
Your such an inspiration I was always bullied at school and physically hurt and because I was different and have a learning disability books are my way of getting far from it I'm 33 now but I love reading and I'm writing my own novel ☺
You are so beautiful and strong. I have been a reader for my whole life, but about age 13 or 14 i was in a very bad depression, so i actually stopped reading. I just didnt want to eat or sleep or even get out of bed, so it was like i just couldnt read. But then i started reading again when i was hospitalized for mental health reading, and i havent stopped reading again since. So, i can definitely relate to your situation, and i just wanted to let you know that you're an awesome person.
This is one of my favourite videos that you have ever done. You come across so honest and it was fascinating to learn more about you and your reading history. Talking without any notes really works well for your camera presence :)
How I became a reader: In preschool, I remember being frustrated that I couldn't read. I would sit down with a book and try to read it, but I couldn't. When I started learning how to read in kindergarten, I never really turned back. I was also read to every night, so that helped me learn a lot of words. Most 6,7,8 year old kids would want to spend their money on candy and toys but I always just wanted books. In grade one, I read a lot of junie b Jones books and ones similar to those. In grade 2, my teacher was obsessed with magic tree house and she had all the books and we would try to read as many as we could throughout the year and we made it to around #40. My teacher also gave us a challenge to read 100 books throughout the year and I definitely succeeded. I love a good challenge because I'm super competitive. Reading has always been something I loved and here I am at nearly 14, reading two-three 300-600 page books a week;) I swear when I have conversations with my other book-y friends we must sound insane to anybody else. I've never really liked writing very much but I find that when I have to, it actually comes so easy to me because I read so much. So yeah to wrap it up I guess I've basically just always been a reader and I'm very obsessed.
Thank you for sharing this! I was also hospitalized for mental health in high school, and reading helped me so much. The Divergent series got the through those bad days in the hospital, and now I read all the time because it helps so much. I love seeing how you've created a life despite having mental illness and it's really inspiring for me. Reading honestly saved me! Thank you again for sharing this
I was hospitalised when I was 15 for an eating disorder and I was read to (twilight by my younger brother) to distract me from the anxiety of eating and would eat more if read to and when I was hospitalised I read like crazy too
Thank you for being so honest with your journey, it's so important to talk about mental health so people know they're not alone ❤️ I love your love for reading ❤️
I started reading right from a child. I loved being read to and then once I could read I was constantly at the school library or a book store. Right from the beginner reader books to my first ever "chapter book" series The Babysitters Club! I remember memories of going with my grandma to the used book store to find used copies of the BSB! it was so much fun. then I started into more heavier books as I got older like the Hardy boys (i have and have read all of them!) and then started more in YA when I hit closer to high school (hardy boys I was probably about 10 or 11). now I read mostly YA contemporaries but sometimes go outside of that safe zone to something with a bit of fantasy etc. I love Harry potter, I really enjoyed the Fallen Series by Lauren Kate and honestly even Twilight but I love Sarah Dessen she's my fav author!
I truly started reading cause if school. In September of 2016, I had a teacher whom required a reading response every week. I started by taking 'Take the Fall' off the library shelf and was in love, moving on I read the whole Harry Potter series... and so much more. I love reading now. I was inspired by your videos to read more than I was before and it's going great! I highly recommend the Hush, Hush saga.
I used to dislike reading too! I didn't get any enjoyment out of it and it would take me weeks to get through a book. I remember I didn't even like Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone when I first read it because I was so slow I wasn't absorbing the magic. Then my family moved from a city to a small rural town abruptly and we ran a small bakery which is actually insanely hard and tough and I had to help out instead of running wild and free like a kid should and one day I got introduced to the library and even though it was a tiny library, it felt like a whole new world. I kept thinking I didn't like reading how would I even find anything I would want to read there but I tried and gradually I got better at reading and taking away from the story. Now I read so fast and book can make me laugh and cry and just FEEL. It's become a truly immersive experience for me and I just completely lose myself into the authors' worlds. I also feel super sad that there are 118 books in the TBR folder on my Kindle and not enough hours in a week for them. I've been a solid bookworm from over 10 years now and I feel like it's definitely helped me grow as a person and made me really open to looking at people/problems/things from different angles. I wish more of my friends felt half an enthusiastic about reading as I do!
I started reading when I was in year 5 when I bought myself my first book (Anna Dressed in Blood) while I was shopping for a birthday present for one of my friends at the time (I ended up getting her a book too - Looking for Alaska). I fell in love with books and couldn't stop reading until year 8, when i discovered anime and manga and all that. When i got over those, I then proceeded to submerge myself in kpop and kdramas. That ended in late year 9 and it was after all that I was finally able to pick up a book and read it. Leading to now. Still love BTS though.
I became an avid reader after I read Paper towns by John Green! When I was younger I totally loved the idea of reading, but whenever I read a book it wasn't what I thought it would be and that ruined me wanting to pick up another book. But one day I started reading Paper towns and I finished it in one day, and I was totally amazed by how it made me feel. After that I have read a lot of books and it makes me so happy! :))
Well for me, when I was 13, my friend introduced me to wattpad (a site for free books written by anyone ) and i started reading. But after a while i got bored of it , like all the story is so unrealistics and rarely theres a good book that I actually liked. So i went to booktube and seached for book reccomendations and here i am now.
Love this video. I had always loved reading as a kid, but when I went through high school and college I only found time to read books I had to read rather than ones I wanted to read (except for Harry Potter, I read those as they came out!) but when I bought my own place with my fiancé I really wanted a bookshelf to put all of the books I did have on, and from there I found more books I wanted to read and ended up filling the case. I rearranged it all recently so it looks better as a display rather than just holding books randomly. Avid reader for life! ❤️📚
For me it was first in grade 8th , then only read for school until grade 11 when we had to read something for school , then my best friend game me a series saying that I will love it (pushing me to read), and that's how it all started for me.
Every time you talk about reading, I can see the love you have for it in your eyes. You are truly inspiring and I'm so glad I found you on UA-cam. You are so beautiful and I wish you the best of luck in college, and in the publishing industry, you'll do great!
I remember reading those books like you said back in high school and my first book that I have read when I began to love reading was the TFIOS. I was 17 when I got into it. I couldn't put down when my mom told me to work on my homework or else she would take my book away. And then Anna Todd published her fan fiction books and that got me to love reading even deeper! I remember my very own first book was Stargirl at age 7, and I read it but I wasn't into reading. I have a really large TBR pile sitting in the corner of the room waiting to be read, but sadly college has been taking my time to focus on that and not being able to catch on reading. Going to school and work was tough for me as I couldn't work to provide myself. A lot of the days were stressful and I would keep two or three books plus require English novels in my backpack so I can go to school with them. I wish I could be an English major but I'm already an Environmental science major. Thank you for sharing your story!!
So inspirational. You have such a beautiful soul! I too spent a week in the hospital for my mental health when I was younger and that's where I found my love of nursing. It's funny how life works out sometimes. Thanks for sharing!
I relate to this so much! I'm glad that I'm not the only one who feels this way about reading. I just want to let you know that I love your channel. You are my favorite booktuber, and I'm so happy that you have discovered something that brings joy and purpose into your life!
I really liked reading when I was younger, I had a subscription to a "magazine" that was called "J'aime lire" (I love reading) and it was like a story and games, I read those all the time. 3-4 years ago, I read the Divergent trilogy and it took me FOREVER to read Insurgent, I was in a GIANT reading slump and I didn't read anything except for school. When I finished the series, I read To All The Boys I've Loved Before (we had to choose a book for my English class) and I loved it. My friend read the first The Land Of Stories and she convinced me to read it after, so I did and really liked it so that's what got me into reading!
The reading spark in me was reignited when I first saw your videos.. It tempted me to read more and more than I apparently had.. This Booktube arena has brought me into a whole new world of reading and am glad that U were the main reason for it. THANKS A LOT HAILEY... XOXO
omg! this was so refreshing, to hear your story gives me hope fory own daughter (8yrs). i have always loved reading, and have spent a fortune on books to hook her interest, all to no avail; 'why do you like reading so much mummy?'...seeing this has encouraged me that, there's still time yet! yay. x
I had a very similar situation with reading when I was younger too. I liked books when I was little but I didn't like reading them but preferred to be read to. When I was in elementary school I went to special classes because I had a hard time with reading and until I went into high school I hated reading and never did it. It wasn't until I saw The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters that I actually enjoyed reading. Lord of the Rings was the first book I ever enjoyed reading and it is still my favorite book to this day. I cannot imagine what kind of person I would have been without finding this book! Even after I read it, I wasn't a huge reader and still preferred not reading because I thought that no other book could compare to it. It wasn't until I was 19 or 20 that I began reading normally. I started by reading Doctor Who novels with the 10th Doctor, Rose, and Martha, then I moved onto reading about the Tudors with biographies/history pieces by Alison Weir. Even then I didn't realize how much reading meant to me. Then I went to college as a Theatre Major, but the longer I majored in theatre the more I came to realize I wasn't passionate about it and then I thought about what classes I loved taking and realized it was English. So I changed my major to English Literature and now I am in my third year.
is was my first day at my new school and i had go register in the libary, and then i see this beautiful poster of a book and there were two girls talking about it and i was just so intrigue whit the story and the characters that they said and i read it. it was fairy oak by Elisabetta Gnone. one thing leave to another and i beacame a reader. also Shadowhunter get me in reading many years later.
I love these stories! Reading helps me with my anxiety too :) I've always loved reading but it really took off for me in fourth grade because I had a teacher that made reading so fun and important and it helped me realize how much I really loved it.
I used to love reading as a kid. I would go to the library and read, and I remember falling in love with Harry Potter, I actually read a lot of the Goosebumps books as well, hahaha. And then, people started making fun of me because I wore glasses AND I read books, so I stopped and I started to really hate it. I also stopped using my glasses for years and years even though I could't see that well. I remember lying to my teachers so I didn't have to read books for classes, because I really hated it so so much. The only books I read in those years was Harry Potter over and over. When I was 17 I got sick, and was home for pretty much 7 months straight, and I started watching bookshelf tours on youtube because of one video that popped up in my recs, and that's when I became obsessed. I started buying a lot of books and started reading a lot, and I just haven't stopped reading since. I'm 21 now, and I own like... 300+ books and I don't see myself ever stopping, because I love it so much.
I started reading when I was 11 for kind of the same reasons you did. I found if I wanted to kind of check out my life for a bit I jumped right in to book and i felt like living in another world/life. Reading really helped ground me and honestly reading saved my life
Mine was that I HATED reading and I wouldn't even read a word without getting in trouble with my mom because I was homeschooled then one day I just picked up a book and I just read it and then I read it and that's how I got into reading. The book that got me into reading was One Smart Cookie By Susan Cappadonia Love. I also LOVE / LOVED Magic Tree House series. Now I read big and small books.(I love the big ones usually.).
Amazing video!! I also struggle with anxiety and I know how terrible it can be. I hope things get better for you gorgeous! Reading is definitely an amazing outlet ❤️❤️
so i hve a genre that I just LOVE, and it's not a specific genre, but to me it is, and i love these books, because I have gone through a ton of really bad stuff in my life, and i connected with these books and the characters, and watching them overcome this stuff was really inspiring to me, and I still love these kinds of books. Contemporary YA fiction where characters have real serious life problems, like they are abused, or their best friend dies, but they survive, or they have an eating disorder or something. I have an entire shelf on goodreads about that, and i think you might like it. Especially if you want to read about characters who are going through things, and manage to come out ok on the other side. I'd be honored if you checked it out, and even if you don't, the one that I will recommend right now is Hate List, by Jennifer Brown. That book literally made me cry. When the main character was hurting, I could feel her hurt, when she suffered so did I and when she got stronger, so did I. When she finally finds some peace, I found some too, and I was proud of her. It was profound. Please check it out.
I starter reading in 6th grade when my dad gave me my first book because I wanted to read, it was eclipse and i just fell in love with reading. Loved the video, you're great!
Great story ! Mine is quite mainstream- I've been a reader all my life. I learnt to read when I was 4 and I never stopped. I remember being in hospital when my mom brought me my first book- Pippi Longstocking.Since than she has always encouraged me to read and bought me books. Now we read together and discuss books all the time
The outsiders changed my life in 7th grade. My English teacher who read it with us for English got cancer and had to move across the country. That book helped me in so many ways and I will forever owe an unpayable debt to that book.
thank you for sharing your story 😊 I loved how you work and study in your field of interests at this young age you are so inspiring good luck to you. for me I read when I was 8 and I tried to read children story and I only had a single book back then which was a gift from my mom then I would from time to time venture through my father's bookshelves but since most of his books where adult books I was not that interested except for small books about different information like history , inventions and so many other things then I read two romantic old fashioned novels but yet I did not consider myself a reader until one day I read orient express by Agatha Christie and that is when I fell in love with reading at the age of 15 then I started my journey I tried to focus on psychology and sociology I was so obsessed with it in my teenage years but once I got better in English especially in my college years I discovered the beautiful world of YA novels and now I am in love with so many beautiful books beside reading in my native language. btw I am so excited for your live Q&A or any Q&A video actually and I have one question .. how do you find your experience as full time student with a job ? how can college students apply and look for jobs and is it good to work and study full time ? I would like to hear your experience with that stuff
This is how I used to feel. I wanted to be a journalist and get in the publishing industry and write my own novels all throughout middle school and high school. But I pushed that dream away because my family said with the rise of technology that's not realistic and I won't get anywhere with it. And now I feel depressed because I don't know what to do with my life. I don't feel like I'm good at anything else.
I always loved reading as long as I can remember, but I never knew what to read. I'd just borrow books from friends. What really made me read a lot more was Goodreads!
O my word... Your story is super similar to mine! My sister loves reading, so i used to hate it. I never wanted to do whatever she did, and i read like 2 books a year (outside of school) and i would go for months without reading. You inspire me so much.
I honestly love your videos so much. I watch a lot of booktubers but your videos are always my favourite and always inspire me to buy and read more books. I read the book theif because of your videos mentioning it and it's such an incredible book❤️
Im 13 and i used to read like a MILLION story books when i was 5 to 6. So i derived it from there. But i ACTUALLY started reading when i read smaller books but now gradually i can read faster and read bigger books. My mom used to tell me her own made stories when i used to sleep. Now i am trying to read classics but my journey is yet to begin. I love reading and imersing myself in the books no matter how long they take to finish. I believe if you try. Anyone can read. It just takes a hint of interest to get involve.
Enjoyed hearing your story! Harry Potter was the series that pulled me back into reading when I was in middle school! I feel the same way...about being sad knowing there isn't enough time to read all the books in the world! Lol we do the best we can!
I really started to become a reader about 2 years ago. Whenever I was taken to the library with my class, I got a book and never read it. One day I actually wanted to get something and read it. I stumbled upon the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and immediately fell in love with it. Each book took me about a week and I'd get to the library every Wednesday to get the next one. Then I bought the Heroes of Olympus series and was in love with it too. Well here I am now and still love reading. I feel like it had helped me improve in writing (especially for school) and understand so much about the world. It truly is a life changing thing
I do read sometimes but I don't consider myself a reader but definitely wanna be one :) The thing is English isn't my first language and it kinda sucks when there are words that I don't know and have to stop translate them every time! I get bored so I stop reading you kinda inspired me thanks a lot & good luck English is my major too!
I've been obsessed with reading since I was about 9/10 and I'm now 15. I used to hate reading too and then I read Matilda by Roald Dahl and that's what dragged me into reading a lot more!
Loved your story Hailey :) It's amazing how impactful reading can be. I am so thankful for my books and the solace they bring when life gets too crazy! I might just have to do a reading story myself hehe 😊
I started reading around when I was ten, my reasoning being I couldn't read believe it or not before this age (or at least not very well). And there always comes a time when parents or teachers would expect you to be able to read something without their help and it appeared that I wasn't at that level yet. I forced myself to read more so that I didn't need people's help when reading, and from there it just became a habit and gradually something I came to enjoy.
Until high school I didn't read. I got my mom to read the books to me. I collected them, but wouldn't read. Now I read all time not sure what did back then in my free time.
the first book i had was a gift when i was 8 i didn't read it because the cover was blue and had a boy in it!!! and i was so jealous of my sister who got a girly book about best friends with a pink and purple cover, i just couldn't even look at the book! a year my friend lent me one of her books and i liked it so i asked my mom to get me the second and third part and that's how i begun reading, i didn't read billy Elliot which was the book that i got as a gift until really later on and i'm glad i didn't because i think it wasn't really appropriate for an 8 years old
I used to be a huge reader in like 3rd grade but I just stopped because I love interest and I want to start reading but I get bored so easily ugh I wish I was one of those readers but I'm trying
i didnt care for reading that much but the first book i actually genuinely loved was Macbeth, and we did Lord of the Flies in class which was interesting.... and then I did literature so I had to read short stories but what got meinto reading for real was when I installed wattpad ahahah at the time I couldnt buy books (I was 13) and when i found wattpad I was so thrilled, I found this one popular book in my native language and after that I started reading quite often! still not to the extent that many people o booktube do, I read 1 or 2 books the most each month and some months not at all ahahha
Just found your channel and I love it! Thanks for sharing your story! I have always been into reading. I really use it as an escape, I love putting myself into the world of the book I am reading! I don't have the time to read as much as I used to when I was in school. I am a first-year teacher, so I end up buying books for my classroom instead of for myself because at least my students have the time. This summer, I am planning on setting a reading goal for sure!
It's crazy how much I can relate to you!! i used to hate reading and love writing and do the thing of looking back and regretting now! and i absolutely hated doing literature in school and the first book we did that i liked was the outsiders too and now i'm an english major!!! The coincidence is real 😂 glad i discovered your channel!
I hate how people judge me for reading? like, why would you make me feel bad for doing something I love?? Don't knock it till you try it lmao
Danielle that's exactly how I feel!
No one even knows I read because I'm too embarrassed that i will get judged
@Atlanta Your words need to be a quote readers like us can hang up. Word!! 😎
Danielle OMG that’s EXACLY how I feel my friend basically mocks me for liking to read so much! Like stop and she also gets annoyed!!
Literacy is beautiful and I wish reading was celebrated more
I only started reading in september 2015, at 19.
thank you very much :)
Iva Skoko you're welcome! :)
How I Became a Reader: Once, when I was 4 years old, I picked up this book called Fun With Pets and asked my mom to teach me how to read. She did. So yeah, that's how I became a reader...
Awww cute haha 😊😊
When I was 13, I stumbled across this app called wattpad and downloaded it out of curiosity. There I found a book named The Last of Firedrakes and I loved it. Then I was like hungry for another good book so I found this book named Poison which was not quite my liking. After that I started reading Throne of Glass and was completely in love with it. Now I am 14 and can't live without books.
Hey! Are you on goodreads?
@@srushteepatil yup, I do. What's yours?
@@fatimaakamrann my story is similar, two months ago I started reading this book named a brilliant plan on Wattpad and the author post it on there for marketing purposes and there was another book in the series named brilliant actors and i was craving for more when i finished the first book that I pocked the second one up and then i discovered booktube and discovered ya and now I have a kindle and I can't live without books.
Oh my god I got into reading by Wattpad too!
Don't read "The King In Yellow"
I was 14 when I started reading and I hated reading too! But when I read my first book ever (eleanor & park) got me into reading. I loved it so much, after that I started to read more books. 💜
VixenSimmer how old are you?
VixenSimmer OMG I WATCH YOUR SIM VIDEOS, I'm reading Eleanor &Park right now and it's so amazing
It'sMeLIES AWWW THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Elena Salvatore im turning 18 :')
Outsiders yaaassss!!!! That book changed my life and literally saved me 8th grade year 😩
I really loved the outsiders and the giver! The outsiders is probably one of my favourites
Heyyyyy, how’s your reading going ?!?i hope you’re safe and well 🫶🏽
I appreciate your existence
this makes me happy , not alot of people talk about mental health and knowing that books changed you is refreshing . cause i noticed that i loved reading when i was younger but could not finish a book . i just started reading again. i have been trying to get somthing that could ground me since i have alot of anxiety . it has taken over my life . and since im reading i feel like i can go in a story and not be as anxious as i am outside of my home! your doing a good job and thank u for being you!
Her vibe is soo lovely..my fav booktuber❣️
5ellan - Ella same, I have kind of also always been a reader x You read a lot of books a week!
booktube and some of my friends started my reading journey at the beginning of this year. i am so so so grateful😍😍😍
Thank you again for sharing this
i get so happy when you upload! you are making being ill very bearable haha and thank you for motivating me to get back into reading
Literally same I'm sick as heck and her upload has made my day
I was hospitalised when I was 15 for an eating disorder and I was read to (twilight by my younger brother) to distract me from the anxiety of eating and would eat more if read to and when I was hospitalised I read like crazy too
The Outsiders is an amazing novel, i loved it so much.
For some reason, I find these videos very emotional and very inspirational. I love them!
I’m reading The Outsiders for school currently and we’re on chapter 4. The book is amazing!
Your neighbors are alway trying to sabotage your videos 😂
I also used to hate reading. Until I read the Harry Potter series and then that's when I started a new me ,which I am so happy about!
XOXO
omg! this was so refreshing, to hear your story gives me hope fory own daughter (8yrs).
i have always loved reading, and have spent a fortune on books to hook her interest, all to no avail; 'why do you like reading so much mummy?'...seeing this has encouraged me that, there's still time yet! yay. x
glad you're better now 💗 books are literally therapy
Catcher in the Rye was a really big one for me too in terms of getting into reading.
Also The perks of being a wallflower, have you read that too?
is was my first day at my new school and i had go register in the libary, and then i see this beautiful poster of a book and there were two girls talking about it and i was just so intrigue whit the story and the characters that they said and i read it. it was fairy oak by Elisabetta Gnone. one thing leave to another and i beacame a reader. also Shadowhunter get me in reading many years later.
OMG I LOOOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!
Reading is definitely an amazing outlet ❤️❤️
omg I love your hair!! how do you curl it?
I only curl the front two pieces, the rest is natural!
thank you for the answer 😊
so i hve a genre that I just LOVE, and it's not a specific genre, but to me it is, and i love these books, because I have gone through a ton of really bad stuff in my life, and i connected with these books and the characters, and watching them overcome this stuff was really inspiring to me, and I still love these kinds of books.
I read the outsiders in the 7th grade! It made me cry tons
Awesome video. I also have been hospitalized for mental health but
I'm 28 and I've been reading since age 4.
thank you for sharing your story 😊 I loved how you work and study in your field of interests at this young age you are so inspiring good luck to you. for me I read when I was 8 and I tried to read children story and I only had a single book back then which was a gift from my mom then I would from time to time venture through my father's bookshelves but since most of his books where adult books I was not that interested except for small books about different information like history , inventions and so many other things then I read two romantic old fashioned novels but yet I did not consider myself a reader until one day I read orient express by Agatha Christie and that is when I fell in love with reading at the age of 15 then I started my journey I tried to focus on psychology and sociology I was so obsessed with it in my teenage years but once I got better in English especially in my college years I discovered the beautiful world of YA novels and now I am in love with so many beautiful books beside reading in my native language. btw I am so excited for your live Q&A or any Q&A video actually and I have one question .. how do you find your experience as full time student with a job ? how can college students apply and look for jobs and is it good to work and study full time ? I would like to hear your experience with that stuff
This is how I used to feel. I wanted to be a journalist and get in the publishing industry and write my own novels all throughout middle school and high school. But I pushed that dream away because my family said with the rise of technology that's not realistic and I won't get anywhere with it. And now I feel depressed because I don't know what to do with my life. I don't feel like I'm good at anything else.
YES I LOVE THE OUTSIDERS I JUST READ IT!!!! I GOT SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!! I LOVE PONYBOY!!!!!! 😊❤️😊❤️😊❤️😊❤️😊❤️😊❤️😊😊😊😊😊😊❤️
I always loved reading as long as I can remember, but I never knew what to read. I'd just borrow books from friends. What really made me read a lot more was Goodreads!
Thank you for sharing such personal reading story....... Inspiring and i like ur mindset towards reading ✌️🇸🇩
I love your videos and you're beautiful! I relate so much to the mental health/ anxiety and love for English and reading.
I loved hearing your story. I really hope you will feel better soon!
O my word... Your story is super similar to mine! My sister loves reading, so i used to hate it. I never wanted to do whatever she did, and i read like 2 books a year (outside of school) and i would go for months without reading. You inspire me so much.
I also always viewed myself as a good writer, but i never wanted to read.
I do read sometimes but I don't consider myself a reader but definitely wanna be one :)
The thing is English isn't my first language and it kinda sucks when there are words that I don't know and have to stop translate them every time! I get bored so I stop reading
you kinda inspired me thanks a lot & good luck English is my major too!
I've been obsessed with reading since I was about 9/10 and I'm now 15. I used to hate reading too and then I read Matilda by Roald Dahl and that's what dragged me into reading a lot more!
Loved your story Hailey :)
It's amazing how impactful reading can be.
Your hair is literally so beautiful. Love it.
the first book i had was a gift when i was 8 i didn't read it because the cover was blue and had a boy in it!!! and i was so jealous of my sister who got a girly book about best friends with a pink and purple cover, i just couldn't even look at the book!
a year my friend lent me one of her books and i liked it so i asked my mom to get me the second and third part and that's how i begun reading, i didn't read billy Elliot which was the book that i got as a gift until really later on and i'm glad i didn't because i think it wasn't really appropriate for an 8 years old
Yes girl! I totally relate with your story!!! I found your channel randomly one day and I'm sure glad I did! You got a new sub!!!
Loved hearing your story! I love Jackson
I love your room and how it arranged❤❤
We're reading The Outsiders now for school! I like it so far.
Oh my goodness it would be so cool, if you'd make a video about writing!!
The outsiders got me into reading! Love that book with all of my heart ❤️ xx
Can even express my love for The Outsiders and Giver!!! ❤️❤️❤️
When I was younger I read Magic Treehouse and Junie B. Jones. I had like the whole series of them both😂
Oh gosh I loved the magic tree house books to! and especially the dolphin one too cause they're my favorite animals! :D
The Outsider's has also been my favorite school book so far!
yes please do a liveshow that would be awesome
Just found your channel and I love it! Thanks for sharing your story! I have always been into reading. I really use it as an escape, I love putting myself into the world of the book I am reading!
I don't have the time to read as much as I used to when I was in school. I am a first-year teacher, so I end up buying books for my classroom instead of for myself because at least my students have the time. This summer, I am planning on setting a reading goal for sure!
You should use this as a new background! It looks so cozy and comfy! X Absolutely adore your personality and videos :)
Your room is very beautiful
