Not sure why yours keeps resetting when you turn the car off. It shouldn’t do that. I hate the feature as well, but I just pressed the button once to deactivate it and I’ve never had to worry about it since. No coding ever. Never resets when I turn the car off. Maybe it depends on the technology/infotainment package that came with it????
i got a 2018 540i with 80k miles. always had the start/stop function on. never had any issues. nothing "wore" out. that's a stupid old myth. and yes, the fuel economy is is WAY better. i get 30 mpg on the highway and 21ish around NYC. my previous 6 cylinder bmw didn't come anywhere near this fuel economy. it's worth it. i love this feature.
Just got a ‘23 x7 M60i, and bmw got rid of the button that disables it, because of the ‘mildly hybrid’. The engine shuts off even when coasting, or when i am not accelerating, and to top it off, will start braking by itself to charge the battery. I’ve tried many things, and only in Sport Plus will disable ASS. When on a stop, it takes a sec to restart the engine, and sometimes I press the accelerator more, instinctively, and the car will embarrassedly rev high and give a jumpy start; almost like a messed up transmission. I will have to code my car, because it’s SO annoying.
The starter on cars with this feature is designed stronger for this and also if you idle for 7 seconds or more it is more efficient to turn off your car so if you sit at a light for two min it does save you gas.
We’re bmw owner like we give af about gas’s when we got thousands of dollars in mods to enjoy our cars and I’m sorry listening to my car idle is way more important then some change

Thanks for your help in advance. God bless and also I have a few questions regarding your after market unit for radio. Sincerely consider it r ram
That’s weird the video cuts off for certain cars. In my F06 M6 I just bought Dragon ball GT on dvd to watch sometimes in the car and it still works while I drive. I still have a oem head unit. I’m guessing in the M cars that auto start stop isn’t a issue which makes sense since it is a M. That would have drove me wild
What happens when you beat the crap out of your car, then, when stopping it shuts off. The first thing that comes into mind - "Oh SH!T, my turbo is cookin! Turn it ON! TURN IT OOOONN FOR F@@KS SAKE!"
For havinga straight piped car the auto start stop is actually the best feature. Had it off for two years and decided to try it out and I’ve gained 3 mpg and get much less attention from cops
So my car doesn’t always turn off at stops but sometimes it will turn off and I’ll have to press the button to disable , I’m not sure why it starts to turn off suddenly, is it normal for it to not turn off at every stop/start suddenly?
Help my 2013 328i when I get to a stop the engine jolt forward before the engine shuts down. Can anyone tell me this problem related to the start and stop?
Hey bud, I noticed that every time I get into my BMW the climate control always seems to turn on and I always have to manually turn it off. Is there anyway to disable the climate control from turning on when starting up my car? Thank you.
First comment. The "Start Stop" dosen't really wear out the Starter or engine, not significantly. The "start stop" system starting the engine isn't the same as manually starting it, most cars stop the engine so that one cylinder is ready to fire, plus the peramiters required for it to work makes it so it isn't active when the engine is cold (which is where the most wear from starting occure).
I think it's a way for manufacturers to inflate their car's fuel economy to be compliant with modern regulations. Don't think it has anything to do with pollution
@@VehicleVirals 100% and plus more systems that “could” fail, thus not passing inspection so that you HAVE to fix them to even register your car. Sounds like a trap to me lol.
@@VehicleVirals Here in the UK we have a high instance of relatively narrow urban streets, so engines being switched off in traffic jams or waiting for the traffic lights to change is an essential benefit to the air quality for those whose environment you're driving through. Not me, I'm the one who hates it. Especially when I've been beating on the car the moment before and Turbo side of things is cooking up (reducing the life span of the turbo at the end of the day).

@@klaspeppar5619 I get the casual driving, nothing gets too hot and it's fine then. But I meant that, what I said, in a way that when I beat on it and shut it off right away, it cooks up the exhaust side of things. For example, the turbo suffers, that doesn't have any cooling, oil sits in the cartidge (main body) and cooks on it while creating carbon sludge, that way leading to a failed turbo later on because of oil starvation (that's not a quick process, but that's something that happens) Basically yeah. @@luckgrip252 as someone with a bit of insight in engine development and a ex-professional mechanic, that is not good.. On newer Volvos the start stop feature is disabled in “Dynamic” (sport) mode.
We can thank the EU for that freaking aweful feature. Every single car-manufacture has this. They should have if turned off from factory, and then of you wish on they can just turn it on them-selves. Thank you EU for destroying the cars and driving experience.
