I actually really enjoy the idea of modern day campaigns, one of my all time favorites that I played was a Red Dawn style GURPS game where we built ourselves as characters and wolvered all over the red devils that decided to invade. It was a blast. What it didn’t have was my little insurgent group aligned with nazis…

I don't understand why or how that would ever work. It's an interesting idea but it would take magic.
Okay wow, not splitting up Mexico and Canada along the lines of their individual states, provinces, and territories is a bit stupid or uninformed. Along with the whole "Biden's a wet paper tiger -> US coup" plotline since I'm fairly certain that Mexico would not invade, we would not invade Canada, Biden wouldn't just lie down, and I'm pretty sure the military would go down the line of succession instead of going to Trump.
Then again, this is something on the internet and it just sounds cartoonishly stereotyped. Maybe false.
Sounds like OP has found the average Hearts of Iron modded campaign, and even for that is tame.
I think i am going to be unsub soon the new voice isn't as human and its missing the canadance of a human soul, and listening to a bland ai tell stories makes them less fun to listen to.
Done with all these AI narrated channels. If the content creator can't take the time to narrate then I don't have time to watch.

Portugal invading and conquering Brazil is a massive red flag in and of itself. Brazil used to be Portugal's India in the sense that it was the most prized colonial possession. Then the Portuguese royal court fled to Brazil to escape from Napoleon, and then.... things get complicated. Also, even after Brazil became an independent nation, it was one of the largest and last slave economies in the Americas.
So that's a lot of yikes right there.

this sorta happened to me when I first started playing 5e d&d where one of the players told me inbetween games his views and he was a self proclaimed neo nazi. which then made everything he did in game click and made sense to me

I quit listening to this video pretty quickly. One of the reasons I enjoy TTRPG so much is the lack of real world politics. One more like this and I will cancel my subscription.

Nope. A military coup would still happen but it being trump does not make sense. The military would just do the leader of their strongest branch instead of a random rich guy in jail.

It seemed really cool at first too I've never done a modern day ttrpg wit real military, I've done future sifi and fantasy sorry this guy got caught up in just a fan fiction for Trump. That said we haven't really had a great or good president really ever maybe George Washington but idk

Sounds like a hearts of iron campaign to me. nothing wrong with that. As far as my own personal games. All mine that take place in modern times use systems like mutants and masterminds or icons (which is my favorite) and are always comic book games. I have run D&D campaigns that had brief forays into the future or to "the real world" just to shake things up from time to time, but i don't know if i could run a whole D&D campaign set in modern times. It's not really made to handle that.
These comments make me relieved that there are way more terminally online people who are trying to defend this group.
I wouldn't play the game personally. This narrative is only from one perspective. I see the starting point of an alien invasion as "We can go off the rails now." Throw in some crazy stuff instead of the trope of " Everyone unites against the aliens. " The source was a bit heavy on the military discipline in a civilian rpg which made me roll my eyes.

what is with all the high level of dislikes? Is it......(listens too more) aaaa....yea, he would have issues playing any of the modded HOI4. I mean, they are just doing random alt-history stuff where you take an EXTREMEIST choices...cause....it is rather hilarious.
I mean, a number of those things are from DLC as opposed to mods (Portugal uniting with Brazil for instance). Much of the rest is typical Terra Invicta stuff, which starts with the russian invasion. I remember Perun, a well respected youtuber, doing a campaign where he had America invade Ukraine on behalf of russia just because it was convenient for Perun's plans to keep nukes out of Alien hands.

This seems like a wacky alt-history military campaign, sounds like fun. Dont take it too seriously, drastic departures from reality for the sake of 'changing the status quo' are borderline normal. Its basically just 'what if..?' With a military paint-job.

I've been recently tossing around the idea of switching to republican with some of the recent things going on in the states over the last few years. But I'm not full on drinking the kool-aid and going all in for maga either.
Gotta say though, I do kinda like the idea of the campaign, if only for the 'lesser of 2 evils' idea of it. The way it played out though is just nuts...
