The power back on issue in beach mode should go away when you download the 2.05 update, I also experienced the same problem on the older versions. . The lack of proportional audio does make it harder to tell a target's size on the Vortex, I wish it had that feature. You can still use the coil method by raising it, but it's not the same. I haven’t tested the triple score so I can’t say whether it’s a good machine or not but I have definitely been very impressed with the vortex and I’ve tried lots of other machines. I would tell him it’s worth giving the vortex a shot.
Why are you demonstrating target separation using a 2-inch swing? No one hunts that way, at least until they get a "Look Closer" response from a normal field swing. Swing the coil a full meter at 1m/s and then see if you get enough of a response to Look Closer. I've seen so many nail tests videos that utterly fail to account for a real-world coil sweep, making them pretty useless.
I was really just testing out the target separation. Personally I hunt at a very slow and small swing sweep to really dig in between the trashy targets and get me a good positive target id. Everyone has their own coil swing technique. This video was just my personal take on the vortex.
I was looking to see if any one in the comments was going to address his short hovering swing. A regular swing is more realistic. By the sound of it, I think the target would be masked out on a regular swing. IMO . I’m not hatin’ on this young man. He’s got some basic knowledge of metal detecting.

If you haven't updated to the latest firmware, it will be interesting to see if that resolves the bug in beach mode issue. Also, when you're doing your nail test you really need to elevate the nail 1" and 2" to get an idea of how it performs. I've got 30-year-old machines that can separate all day on the same plain it's when you are elevate the nails that's the more accurate test of real-world environment.
Here's a good tip for you. Run iron audio off, then set your high definition iron discrimination to 15. Then you can single out nails and you don't get that constant buzz from the iron audio.

I gave my grandson a Vortex for Christmas. He asked me if possible can we return it for a Triple Score. He done a lot of research on UA-cam.

I dont hunt by isolating the target before I get a tone with a normal swing. Nobody hunts like that!
Nice job Mitchell. I got mine a few weeks ago. So far I like it. I still have to update the machine to the latest version.

If you turn iron audio on and are willing to work with one tone on the low band, you can do a lot more.
