It is the age old concept, you get what you pay for. Chinese companies can make good stuff. Now back to the AB clone. Mine came with perfect tune bushings with no play and I flipped about a year. Beat the shit out of it, no play yet. Of course I lock tite it. So the QA is shitty with clones but BRS has it own issues with that too. Personally, I rather the bushing being over size than undersized. I can fix over sized bushing. The one thing I absolutely hate about the AB clone are the tolerance. You did not show this in the video but if you hold the knife by the blade and shake up and down, there are tons of play between the bushings and the holes of the blade. So when you flip the clone, it won't have that solid feeling. It feels more loose and clanky if that make any sense. For the price, it should flips good enough for most people. Titanium is kinda soft but at least you can ano it. Also, I noticed that after a year, I can feel the tang cup dent but the handle gap still have lots of space between them so it'll be a while before they touch. The tang cup also did not mushroom yet. We'll see.
You hit the nail on the head. My clone has been doing great and I also tuned it to have next to zero tap and play, alongside centering the blade and other things.
So the argument is not with craftsmanship but with copycats, huh? Copycats know this and cut their prices (and quality) in hopes that we're willing to forego our loyalties whether to brand, nation, community, aesthetic.
I know I'm probably gonna get alot of hate for this, but I've owned both an AB clone and a 42 clone.....along with authentic ones as well; and some clones are just that...."clones". As in, the ONLY difference is the Fact that one of them comes from BRS/BM and the other comes from some random chinese company. For all we know, the handles could be getting made in the same damn factories. Just because BM and BRS are "made in america" does not mean that the handles arent milled in china then sent to the US for assembly. Heres even more food for thought......the bm42 clones I've seen sometimes are even BETTER then the real deal cause they are milled from solid Ti stock, whereas authentic BM42 handles are cast titanium. I'm pretty certain the archangel was cast as well, but dont quote me on that, I've never even held one in person.
Hmm I am considering getting a live blade to start flipping on, specifically a AB. 🤔 A lot of people on reddit say to get a live instead of a trainer. I have a trainer but i wouldn’t say I know tricks 🤣 just a basic opening. But I want to seriously start flipping

I started with a trainer and was decently good at flipping and then when I switched over to a live blade I took a severe drop and got cut bad very often because of bad habits. Then I was very hesitant and it’s taken a while to get back to where I was. Definitely start with a live blade
Unless this is more of a biased anti-clone-campaign; I feel like you don't get the full potential out of it in terms of flipping. You can get the clones to have very tight tolerance while it still remains smooth. Which is what matters if you are a flipper. I have one for more than a year and my screws never stripped and still no tap. But the blade/titanium quality is worse and so is the fit and finish. The handles on mine almost touch each other too. To me those shortcomings do not justitie the price difference.

I’ve been flipping since 2013 and I know my full potential of flipping with the balis I like and want rather then the ones I despise and don’t want. My terms of a bali are different to others such as yourself my man. And that’s ok everyone has there own opinions.
God of Ares You flip 3 years longer than me. So you definitely know your full potential. I was talking about the knife’s full potential tho. I carefully sanded down the bushings on mine and the tolerances are good. So potentially the clones can actually be outstanding flippers. But I noticed you look way beyond just flipability. Which is where you start to notice its shortcomings.
