As an old ex wrestler I find the scrambles to be mind-boggling

Faster times, higher jumps, longer jumps. World Records being broken all the time. It stands to reason that wrestling has improved along with everything else.
Crazy, I find most of my matches were just timed scrambles lol.
Announcer in 2014: "You'll see Fix get into a lot of scrambles, he's so active he's always looking to score"
People in 2021: "Hmmm..."

Fix is an absolute stud and to control the match like he did shows how freaking good yianni's shot defense is. Incredible match.
Fix is good. I don’t know how you think he is a “Stud”. Never won an NC in college. Why? He lacks strength, has issues with take down defense and cannot adapt to stronger wrestlers. In his 3 NC matches and a semi loss in his college career he had no take downs, gave up back points, reversals, and was taken down in every match. Also since he stopped juicing he has won nothing internationally. Fix….needs to understand his meathead approach does not work for him. He is not strong enough.

The value of this particular match to instruct younger wrestlers is enormous- throwing in far side leg rides to keep from bring reversed, putting the leg over your head to prevent the man above from turning the corner and getting a take down, use of the tiger ride, spiral ride, it's a virtual clinic for kids in one match. Amazing wrestlers in their early days.
I hope Daton Fix gets his National Title this year. He is literally the runner up to the National Champion (RBY lately) every single year. He is a great wrestler and deserves to be remembered as a National Champion.

Whenever I see Dayton Fix I think #2. I never thought he could beat RBY at nationals (and he didn’t). He’s a great wrestler and all, but some of these guys are completely next level.

I love watching the smaller weight classes because they are usually so fast and technical 171 and 189 were awesome too because they are usually big guys or lengthy and tall vs short and stalky. 215 and unlimited are usually boring with a lot of hip tosses. This match was boring like a heavy weight match. These two are so good it’s just boring to watch imo.

@@matjul2008 Fix Still cannot beat intelligent wrestlers that are stronger than him. Fix take down defense is suspect. From Suriano to RBY to……Yanni in this video. He needs to go to Penn State and broaden his wrestling skills. His Meathead tactics just are to predictable. RBY makes him look…..in need of improvement. Until he improves his takedown defense and his strength he will not win an NC at Oklahoma State. He has not won a major title since he has been off the Juice.
