I never thought I would be laughing my head off watching someone cut metal and weld. You two manage to make that happen. 🤣😂🤣😂 Lydia had me going with her dance moves in the background. And Jim trying to defend ( he had already convinced me) his welding 😂 You make me want to go weld something and I don't even know how. It must be nice to go out to your own metal boneyard and find what you need. Glad you made it through the bad weather. See you on the next one.
Lydia has ya beat and is definitely top shelf when it comes to welding Jimbo 😂. Great video and teamwork guys! Y’all make our Sunday! I see that big red tractor is coming in very useful!
Nice Tractor - again - My green one is 1/3 that size with no enclosure....but hey it works for this 73 year old granny....I mainly move around natural cedar mulch...I did put in a stone create driveway 300' or so...thanks for the video....
Jim Jim oh boy Lydia is never going to let this welding thing go from now on whenever you get feeling good about your welding Lydia will say remember that time my weld held and yours didn't. Mic drops and you're sitting on a sheet of newspaper dangling your feet lol......oh yeah big red is a beast love the way y'all did this.
Jim, you made the best welder assistant ever! Considering you were assisting Lydia you were doubly important. Those are Southern Illinois legs! I say covering them up...NOOOOOO!!! Nice work all around!
Go big red!! so cool watching it come together. More importantly, watching ya'll is a blast. I'd swear you could be reading the phone book and find a way to make it fun and entertaining for everyone. (and a big WELCOME to Jet and Skipper!)
12th viewer today! Love my Cajun family and friends! Lydia’s hair was so cute and the new additions to your homestead will take care of the fence line !
I Love seeing what you guy’s are doing on the homestead! My Dad was a farmer we lived on a 100 acre farm in upstate NY. Homesteader’s/Farmers can do anything!❤ you guy’s🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
When using a torch set remember to only turn on the acetylene 1/4 to 1/2 a turn. If things go wrong you need to be able to shut that bottle off extremely fast.
Add hydraulic grout under plate in gaps between concrete and plate. Also you should have cleaned the container tie down blocks before lowering and used a weldable primer.
That storm the other day was pretty intense, I'm just down the interstate in Pensacola, FL, was a few tornadoes near me, but luckily it avoided my hose, and no one was hurt by any of the damage. Anyhow, glad y'all are safe.
This must have been recorded during the eclipse with as much shade that was being thrown around!! 🤣🤣 When Lydia started not more than a couple minutes in, I paused the video and went and got me a snack and something to drink cause I knew this was gonna get good.. LOL. Yall definitely keep me entertained. The new little "weed eaters" are adorable as well. I figured big red wouldnt have much trouble with those containers. Didnt look like she even broke a sweat. ok... Lydia.... ya know I love ya girl... but ya gotta stick to welding and leave the dancing to someone else 😊🤣🤣. mercy!! Ok... lastly.. did Capt. Crocs "just for men" his beard?? It looks darker than I remember 😊🙃 Yall... have a great week and thanks again for bringing us along. Soo much fun!!
Bahahaha 🤣🤣🤣 I hope the snack was popcorn!🍿 they are a great asset to the homestead!🐐🐐 I’ll leave the dancing to Jim!🤣🤣🤣 Fun fact: copper deficiency is what causes hair to turn white and gray. By taking the right kind of copper it can bring back the color in your hair. That’s just one benefit, but most people actually have a copper deficiency.
Take the ground lead and wrap it around the pipe 5-7 times then weld the upright tuning. It’ll help with the magnetized material properties and retain better crystal structure of the bonding area.
Hiya 😊 Lydia, Ladly, Jim, am glad to hear y'all too made it threw dat storm recently!! 👏👏That was some strong winds. Them little goats are cute, that one goat 🐐 must be thinking grass is much tastier on the other side of the fence 😁 . Jim, don't beat yourself up in that welding job, sh_t happened that day, even though Lydia's weld held up. 😎😜 Lydia, I'd agree with Jim about PPE on them legs of yours. The rocks must have hurt ya laying down on it. Great Video Cajun Family 👍👍 I 😍 it. Keep well my friends!!
Hi Lydia and Jim, great seeing y'all today! My gosh, everytime I see Ladly she seems bigger. I loved her braids, she is such a cutie. The banter back and for between you two was hilarious. I enjoyed Jim's discussion about the nuances of metals and welding , however, Lydia, I'd trust you to do the welding on the storm shelter that I would be spending time in 😉 I loved your antics while Jim was cutting out the plates, it reminded me of Whac-A-Mole. Gus did a good job keeping things on track for y'all; and Big Red did the job flawlessly. Great job and I look forward to the next one. Have a great week and be safe. Love you guys ❤ Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
If you jack one end of the container, the jack is lifting half the total weight of the container. (Assuming the container has uniform mass distribution, which it basically does if it's empty).
I had a tornado and lost a bunch of tree branches and out of power for four hours, nothing like 2020 with two hurricanes back to back 6 weeks apart! I lost power for 12 days and lost my workshop, 11 trees and my chain link backyard fence! Insurance really did it to me and I still don’t have a workshop and everything I had in my shop has been in my garage since!
Boy, boy, poor Lydia is doing all the hard work like always 😂😂😂! Jimbo, I think Ole Blue could have done it!! 🫣 but i see you still got her!! But as always, we love y'all cajun family, and we will catch you next week! I hope y'all have a blessed week 🙏 ❤
I had some guys get some horrible 3rd degree sunburns on their legs from doing extensive welding while wearing shorts! Shorts and welding is a NO NO.. although laying on your stomach while welding does keep your legs away from the welding! LOL
Lydia and Jim try this next time. Use the forks to adjust the shipping container on the pads. Nice welds Lydia. Jim I had a feeling the weld was going to fail. Because you welded rusty metal to rusty metal which made for a bad weld. Have a great week you all.
Ole Maddie (Mahindra) was laughing at that container the whole time! She's gonna be one of the best things you bought for the property! Jim, no matter how you spin it, those breaks were close enough to the welds that you ain't ever gonna live that down... I can't wait to see that shop come to life!
Watching this episode made me think that there will possibly be a number of people envious of your cinematography skills that they have paid to get. You make it look easy and produce great content, well done. Jim do you have a trade as a welder (fitter'n turner) not sure what it's called in the US. I'm not bagging out your weld over Lydia's it's just some terminology you used. Thanks for the laughs, love the new family editions. Until next week, have a great one 😊
You are right, metallurgy, stress, load, and magnetism may play a part in the weld failure. But the condition of existing material and weld size also come into play here. Your weld looked very concave, and it looked like you welded it downhand which makes me think 6010? Also wearing shorts while welding is a bad idea lol. Might want to put some clothes on lol. The project looks like fun. I enjoyed the video thanks guys.
At some point would love to hear your back stories. Where you are from. How you met. Lydia, you surprise me and I am sure a lot of other fans when you said you had Chicago roots.
Before doing your layout lines, what was running the torch over the area for? I will say that bead on the cart looked kinda thin for the torsion that could be applied.
First, "Welcome to the goat owners family!". Ya'll do know goats are escape artist so make sure you have good fences. General rule of thumb is, if fence will hold water, it should hold a goat.😂Now, I think "Big Red" did a fine job and Gus was a great supervisor. Lydia, on the other hand. Well, she went to sleep on top the UTV while you were cutting the plates Jim, so you need to dock her pay.😁
I thought you would have made the base plates extend out on two sides so it could be welded down two sides! And definitely run two passes showing on both sides!
I really enjoy watching you two's interactions, very competitive I see. Just curious, is Lydia's welding skills self taught or went to school? Or did Jimbo teach her? I see some big welding machines you two have, which most people don't have these big engine drives.
Just go ahead on and make her a smaich!! LoL And now the guy in the "Crocs" is bust'in chops about short pants, LoL Y'all are hilarious, Keep it up, Bravo!!!
Y'all are the most. I love watching these peojects. Jim, RVs are junk. They're made of the lightest, cheapest material supplied by the lowest bidder. Those axles are no exception. That's why the weld cracked. It waz designed to support a camping trailer not a hootis and container. Y'all made another fine Cajun Country installation.
Jim. Sorry but the welding didn’t hold. Glad big red could do the job. Excellent idea Lydia. Gus sure had your back as an assistant. Thanks for making my day better with your good old Cajun Country Living humor. 🤪
I got your back Jimbo, ...Lydia, Oh ye of little faith. Since you are the huntress of the weld, I say you drive the tractor and set the other container in place. Its only right, hypertension is hard on the male heart, and you need him around, so be a hero and save the day. The next placement is critical for the complete fit to work. Don't let me down Lydia.👍 😉 Your welcome Jim.😎
Hey Jimbo and of course our lovely Lydia, why dont you see if you have the ability to either borrow, hire or buy some Skates, 4 Industrial Skates and you could roll the Containers around like a Billy Cart.
Cap. You are correct, but a better pre weld prep aka a slight bevel on the over pipe would have yielded better saturation.... Shucks, all them folks giving you grief abiut a darn hootis, Rule: #1 make it good enough to get job done!!! #2 if it works, it works!!!
Damp that seems like a lot of rain 😮Jim turn off the tap😂 The steel yard is like an endless trove of ideas 😊 Wow nice goats 😊 Jim is a big softy when it comes to animals 😊 wow gus you fatty, nice to see you again 😊❤ Sorry Jim your weld sucked 😂😂 Go team Lydia 😊❤ Jim it’s because we love Lydia’s legs 😅😊❤ Great to see the new ford fixed and you using it ❤ Great job! Until the next amazing video❤❤
Cutting torch and crocs!!!! Wow. Hard core
I never thought I would be laughing my head off watching someone cut metal and weld.
You two manage to make that happen.
🤣😂🤣😂

Glad you made it through the bad weather.
See you on the next one.
Inspirational how you tackle crafts you haven't done before and stay at it until your proficient.
I love watching y'all work together on your projects. Seems like Big Red was the perfect tractor choice.
Thank you!!
Lydia has ya beat and is definitely top shelf when it comes to welding Jimbo 😂. Great video and teamwork guys! Y’all make our Sunday! I see that big red tractor is coming in very useful!
Woohoo Sunday with y'all ❤.
Yay!!🙌🙌

Whatever works for you is great! We know what works for one person might not work for another. Sounds like yours is great!😄
Jim Jim oh boy Lydia is never going to let this welding thing go from now on whenever you get feeling good about your welding Lydia will say remember that time my weld held and yours didn't. Mic drops and you're sitting on a sheet of newspaper dangling your feet lol......oh yeah big red is a beast love the way y'all did this.
🤣🤣🤣 oh I know! That will be told to all the grandkids one day! Thanks for watching!😁
Congratulations on setting the first container! I can't wait to see how this turns out. Ya'll have a great week!
Jim, magnatism can be negated by 3 wraps of the lead around the pipe.& a scallop cut on the end of the larger pipe would hsve been the trick.
12th viewer today! Love my Cajun family and friends! Lydia’s hair was so cute and the new additions to your homestead will take care of the fence line !
You rock!🤟
I Love seeing what you guy’s are doing on the homestead! My Dad was a farmer we lived on a 100 acre farm in upstate NY. Homesteader’s/Farmers can do anything!❤ you guy’s🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
This is going to be a great video for granbabies to watch granny weld laying down flat on the ground..lov from south alabama.
That ought to be a really safe place to be in a storm. The tractor sure is a great thing for y'all to have. Very nice video have great week 😊.
We know the wedding might be overkill, but we know we will feel a whole lot better if we ever have to use it as a storm shelter
Well done cajun team 👏.
Tractor made short work of that and with Lydia on the welding doing an amazing job as usual.
There’s a hole in the bottom of the sea 👏👏 Hi from TX. Love watching you guys
When using a torch set remember to only turn on the acetylene 1/4 to 1/2 a turn. If things go wrong you need to be able to shut that bottle off extremely fast.
Any gal lying in the dirt welding like that is awesome. Jim be lucky in such life decisions.
Great work as always. Everyone should have a safe place during storms. Glad the storms missed you. The goats are so cute.
Thank you Jill! Hope y’all are enjoying the spring weather!
@@CajunCountryLivin Yes, really enjoy being outside.
Jim, the one with the best hair gets to weld. 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤ Thanks for the smiles. Great teamwork.
Thank you!!
@@CajunCountryLivin You are welcome.😁
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!!
Liked the "confused banjo music" at 22:15 with Big Red.
Thanks!😂
Add hydraulic grout under plate in gaps between concrete and plate. Also you should have cleaned the container tie down blocks before lowering and used a weldable primer.
Glad you all are doing OK. I believe we teach by example, and you are both such great parents.
That storm the other day was pretty intense, I'm just down the interstate in Pensacola, FL, was a few tornadoes near me, but luckily it avoided my hose, and no one was hurt by any of the damage. Anyhow, glad y'all are safe.
Thanks for sharing Lydia and Jim,yall stay safe and take care! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙋🏼✌🏻✌🏻
That's going to be a nice storm shelter! Thanks for sharing.
Great work y’all. Seems y’all can accomplish anything together. Have a great week.

@@CajunCountryLivinThat is interesting😮. I am 60 no grey hairs & I have my hair dresser looking for them for yrs! 😊🙏🙏🙏
Container into an apartment?
You’re a lucky man Jim to have Lydia to help you with these projects brother!
Take the ground lead and wrap it around the pipe 5-7 times then weld the upright tuning. It’ll help with the magnetized material properties and retain better crystal structure of the bonding area.
Rosie the riveter… nice work! Lydia is so talented! Lucky man you are bud!

Great idea for a storm shelter
Jim is the ultimate "welder helper hootis!" LOL. Great work guys!!!
Nailed it! Nice landing. I knew you could do it.
