Thank you for posting! Kabalevsky is, imho, vastly underrated. He's known chiefly through his lighter compositions but works like the Cello Concerto No.2, which is dark and profound, are quite amazing!

I don't hear it at all. You should take another good listen. Sorry to say but, I think your totally mistaken.
