Giving gift or sadaqah for a newborn baby, kids is normal culture in Islam. Like the sister you met, she like the kids very much and also because you are a musafir/traveler from foreign country, so she is being polite and want to welcome you. As a Muslim, it is in our culture to treat the visitor the best we can. Me too will feel offended if our best gesture is not accepted by the one we want to give our best. That sister want to give sadaqah to the baby and welcoming gesture to the world and as a Muslim we at least must accept those because we must remember it is a rezqi although we know you are more than capable economically but everything came from Allah SWT. Then the one who give will get reward from Allah and you also will be bless for accepting it. The only thing you misunderstood is because that sister is giving money and you feel you are not suppose to accept money. Even Rasullullah SAW accept gift from others although he won't take it for himself instead he will give back to others.
that is called culture clash... Malaysians just love to give. she may be offended if not accepted. but its okay, you done nothing wrong. but next time, hopefully you can consider to accepting it with open heart. help her to get pahala, inshaAllah. btw, welcome to malaysia. may Allah bless your whole family.
Malaysian normally wld give money/ gift/ food to the childrens and babies.. its one of Malaysian culture and gesture of friendliness & welcoming.. they would feel offended if its not taken but if you think its not necessary you can politely say NO ... its just our culture thingy.. anyways, welcome Malaysia, guys :) enjoy your stay..
@@nasirramli3601 sejak bila org Malaysia akan bg duit untuk org yg muka rohingya, ko dh lari jauh drpd normal ni. Mmg culture org melayu suka bg duit kat budak2 especially yg masih kecil.

That's normal in Malaysia, because it's One of the cultures in Malaysia that likes to give money to the children. When Malaysian meet children they will give money gifts. When aid hari raya anda Chinese New year come, Malaysian people will give babies and children money angpau.
Welcome to Malaysia. It's normal for elderly woman to gift money to children especially babies. If it happens next time, please just accept it with thanks and you can put the money in the sadaqah box available in every masjid. Please don't refused it. In any case, hope you will be happy here in Malaysia.
If you understand islamic teaching that we followed, you should realize the concept of share the rezqi, in the weztern world the called it pay forward. But we as a muslim have started it more than 1400 years ago where we share our wealth with others. That is how we live our life as a muslim. We are not perfect, but we try our best to share the rezqi with others.
Welcome home brother and sister 😊❤️🇲🇾sadaqah for kids is normal here, we followed prophet Muhammad, doing good deed by giving sadaqah to kids or anyone in need, when i gave birth, neighbours come to see the baby and will give sadaqah, its not a must but if we take it, it will make them happy, they're trying to collect good deeds also, so why not helping them😊
Its Chinese taboo to use the number 4 because in their culture that particular number means death. So instead of number 4 they'll have 3A. Malaysian jam called kaya. Made from pandan juice, coconut milk and egg.
Ahlan wa Sahlan..side note when someone gives you stuff, hadiah or money it means they are in approval of you..you need to take it or you’ll offend them
It's OK to say no, but if they say take it then except the rezeki of Allah it's a blessing to the one who gives and to the one who receives. Don't put it in a donation box instead donate from your own. That's a blessing.
In the pasr, those elephants were allowed to have more interactions with visitors. We were allowed to feed them with food given by santuary staff and you can help clean their place and get to bath them. However, NGOs from the west have been campaigning that our santuary must have minimal interaction so as a result now those elephant are in barrier.
It is important to understand the local culture. You shd have accepted the offering bcoz it comes from the heart. Rejecting it has not only offended the lady but she probably feels ashamed. Not a good way to start living in a new place.
number 4 is only the belief of the Chinese people. For us Muslims in Malaysia, that's all nonsense. For us Muslims in Malaysia, the number 4 is synonymous with Islam in conjunction with the Prophet's companion. that is why if the building belongs to Muslims or belongs to the government, the number 4 is written as usual
welcome home, once you put a foot step in Malaysia, you are considered as Malaysian family...welcome home guys

In Malaysia, it's an insult to refuse any gifts...just accept graciously ...we mean well...we love to give
A quick tips for the money gift/sadaqah, take it as an aprreciation and you can donate it to the masjid or giving it to the poor later.
