    I have a little tip regarding the battery operated candles. I spray paint the main portion of the candle before using them. I hate the plastic they are made from because it is thin and you can see the shadow of the batteries inside. Spraying them in different colours also helps to match decor better and the paint hides the shadows. Just make sure to tape over the flame portion before spraying! I have also used a glue gun to create drips on the candle before painting them. ~Chris

      Thanks for the tip! I like the idea of battery operated candles but dislike the battery shadows, so I might need to try this.

      Oh that’s a very good idea for plastic ones!! I love the drip idea too. The ones I personally have that I linked are actually made of wax, I don’t see the batteries in those specific candles 🫶

    You pronounced "curtain" just fine in the past! At least, you pronounced it the same way as most Americans. It sounds stranger to hear you emphasize the "t."
    I remember being in South Africa and having someone tell me I pronounce "water" incorrectly because I don't hit the "t" in the word as hard as they do there. As if English isn't spoken with a different accent in different parts of the world!

    I love all these ideas! Another thing I would add concerning books is that books with gold-leaf pages would really suit this aesthetic. I recently thrifted a book entitled The Little Book of Saints, and it has classic artwork on the cover and gold-leaf pages. Something like that would look lovely displayed on a table or on the Greek column, positioned so that the gold-leaf shows. 😍

      Ooh, I just remembered doilies. I like to crochet my own, but they are also readily accessible online or in thrift stores. Now I’m picturing the Greek column with a doily and a gold-leaf book atop that. Or decoupage flowers onto an urn-shaped vase (like using pretty napkins and mod podge, like you described), putting a baby’s breath bouquet in the vase, and setting it on top of a vintage doily. Oh my goodness… 😍

    You should pronounce curtains however it comes naturally to you! I love how you matched your outfit to Light Academia for this video 🥰

    Say 'curtains' however you want! I'm from the South, too, and hearing you force yourself to say "cur-t-ains" is a bit awkward. But I love the ideas and inspiration, you have such an eye for academia aesthetics! Keep up the great work!

    Thank you for another informative and entertaining video. I always enjoy watching your ideas flow onto the computer screen. Im not sure how else you can pronounce curtains. Im from Australia and we say curtains the same way. Anyway, you have inspired me to do something creative with my bedside cupboards. I'll let you know how it goes!!! Have a lovely day. Sending kind regards from the Yarra Valley, Australia.

    Thanks for this video. I just found the term “light academia” which is how I’ve decorated for years. I can finally define my preference in style. 😀 I also just discovered your channel and subscribed. I read peoples’ comments about your pronunciation of curtains. I’m also from the South and based upon the comments, go back to your pronunciation of the word. That’s how we speak!

    I like some of the light academia vibes - like old books, statues..., but the cottage and grandma vibes with florals and ruffles is the part I don't really like.

    I’m sorry. What is this about curtains. I’ve heard this before. I don’t understand what the issue is. It just sounds like the same. Why is this an issue.? Not throwing hate. Just very confused. I would like to hear a side-by-side comparison. Why is this an issue all the best love your videos.

      @@heathergraham8488 yea.
      I've even seen profesionals in language saying that there's no point in being so purist about accent. As long as people can understand you, so that you can have a conversation with no problems, that's good enough.

    So, I'd like to ask- Do you have any ideas that you've considered creating a video for and then had the thought "No, no, that's a bad idea" or at least an idea that you thought we wouldn't like?

    • @justlanchen
      @justlanchen  9 місяців тому

      Good question!! Sometimes but not really for this one. If anything I struggled a bit to find new ideas to mention that aren't in other aesthetic videos I've made. There is a lot of crossover between aesthetics so it's hard to make each one entirely different 😭

    • @1005corvuscorax
      @1005corvuscorax 9 місяців тому

      @@justlanchen Well, you do make each one different. For example, this vid.
      "Sometimes but not really"- I don't think we want to SEE a vid of those you thought "sometimes" about, but it would be fun to hear about those "sometimes" (if they exist at all).
      Keep up the fantastic work, your fans applaud you 👏👏

    Um, not very far in yet, but Jane Austen a smidge prior t' proper time period and also Little Women, but then also that one is the one gal dies and then the guy is an alcoholic and the other gal is always upset w' the sister and runs off w' scrumpy old aunt and such.... AND I tink we've gone o'er before that some these affectations is leaning more Victorian than truly ACADEMIC or whate'er.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 9 місяців тому

      Once again, I'm more adherent t' that whole 1950s thing or whate'er, but not strictly as such. Sock Hops aren't really academia, either, but they dressed better before ripped jeans and pretty much everything after the Beefles, etc.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 9 місяців тому

      I may have less pink books than you.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 9 місяців тому

      Yeah, I also want more elegant rooms (I guess), but I still prefer the beach cottage art frame look than the gold museum art frame look overall. I don't really have any framed art up at the moment for reasons, but one day I'll get rid of the posters altogether, I guess.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 9 місяців тому

      See, to me Oil Lamp says CABIN, not Prep School Dormitory.

    • @Highland_Paddy
      @Highland_Paddy 9 місяців тому

      I guess I have less to nitpick here because overall my aesthetic will never quite be this one, anyway. BUT I still look at vids more about late 1800s or whatever and there are just so many home good items that I have no use for, either. I mean, I can't spend all night on this, but I guess there's some switch that gets flipped from the time everyone has one set of clothes and sleeps on a bed of straw next to their sword and their goat and then all a sudden it's Steampunk or something, right? Again, I think it's a lot easier to aim for about 1940s when you have machine laundry and don't hafta starch your own shirt collars and keep a tuxedo handy for every festive occasion..............

    Why do decorators have to display books backwards? It annoys the heck out of me. Who cares? Is this a “woke” thing?

      did you not watch the video? she talked about it looking nice in her eyes. She also specifically said that it's perfectly understandable if you want to read the spines. Can you please define what you mean with "woke"?? And the context to it??
