That knee going actually let him go out with a shred of dignity. Even in his prime, Cain's walk forward aggressive style pretty much guarantees Francis knocks him out.
Cain was definitely done before this fight even started, his last fight before he fought francis was 3 years, some can come back but for cain it was the injuries, cain in his prime would make francis look silly

His knee buckled after the short hook. He did hurt his knee but only a split second after the hook dropped him
