Great video, helped quite a bit. However I think their might be a few steps or information missing regarding installing the clutch to the motor. I followed what you said step by step but when I tried it with one wiper attached to be sure all was well it pulled the wiper down into the cowl where the transmission is. Then I tried letting it cycle through a few times the loosened the 13mm Torx screw and turned the clutch so it was in the same at rest position as in the video then tightened it back down. I then re-attached the wiper arm to check for proper operation. It first went through a whole smooth wipe but rested in the upright position. Clearly something is wrong. I can see that the clutch is made up of a top silver piece, semi round, with holes for the screw and the alignment hole that you used to be sure all was lined up. There’s also a notch with a silver pin in it. Then there’s a brass color plate with the knuckle ball attachment for the transmission arm to connect to, an elongated notch for the plates to move around the silver pin and a couple of notches at the opposite end from the knuckle ball. Then there are two heavily oiled plates with a silver spring wrapping around the whole thing. Finally there’s a bottom silver plate with a large hole where it sits on the motor gear, the bottom semi elongated hole for the alignment a small hole just to the side of the large gear hole, an elongated semi curved opening with the bottom end of the same silver pin through it and on the front off center is a spear headed piece of metal with a copper color spring going over it. What do all these parts do and how does it relate to the connection of the clutch to the motor as well as the wiper arm travel during operation? This is where information and clarification is missing which seems to be keeping me from being able to complete the repair properly. Any additional information/clarification would be greatly appreciated and if you have any videos showing in greater detail this crucial step in the reinstall process that would be greatly appreciated as well. I’ll be waiting to hear back. In the meantime take care and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Sincerely, Scott
I have a long list of repairs that turned out very good thanks to you. That might be a huge comment.. 01 regal wheel bearing, brakes, struts, coolant elbows, wiper blades, halfshafts, 99 corolla headlight assembl to name a few,
Thank you for watching. The process may be a little different on your model. We will keep this vehicle in mind for future videos. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Can you do a tutorial on 2006 to 2007 monte carlo grille cowl removal and replacement? These parts are discontinued and due to weathering I need to do a DIY home refurbish and repair. Thanks!

Great video but I have another issue, my wipers move and I can see the 13mm bolt moving but the passenger side stops and just the bolt moves is there a way to adjust it? Thanks
+L Complex Very similar. We use the same video for the 2005 Impala. For anyone else looking to replace their windshield wiper motor, 1A Auto offers the part here: www.1aauto.com/windshield-wiper-motor/i/1awwm00023?UA-cam&CTA%20Comment&ATony
This is a good video. But, notice how easy everything comes apart. Taking my arm off the clutch I damaged the nylon that holds the arm to the clutch. No one makes the nylon piece for the 2000 to 2005 impala. I suggest you remove the clutch off the motor and leave the arm connected to the clutch. Or you will have to do what I did buy a 150 transmission because a 5 cent piece broke.
After installing the new motor and mounting the transmission I turn the key back on but no response from the motor unless I tap it? Then when I turn the wipers off it resets backwards? Help
+Aaron Loomis You need to run the motor in order for it to line up properly with the brass colored piece in the video. Any other viewers interested in purchasing this linkage please click the link: www.1aauto.com/windshield-wiper-motor/i/1awwm00023?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&BTQdl_YeGE
+Shay Dog Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, we would not be able to diagnose an issue for you, but a local mechanic would be able to help you out. Thanks!
Mine only worked on high, but then stopped working altogether. I'm replacing the motor now, since it appears fairly easy, and I have a spare car with a free motor at my disposal.
I can't get 3:21 off. It does not want to budge. Had to rip it off. Now the control arm won't budge. The person before us did not take very good care of this car. Everything is ancient
+Quintin Williams Yes, the wipers on this vehicle are operated by a single motor. Any other viewers interested in purchasing this part please visit our website below. www.1aauto.com/windshield-wiper-motor/i/1awwm00023?UA-cam&CTA%20Comment&
I have a 2001 Impala -- Recently the passenger side wiper quit working, but the driver's side wiper still works fine. Would that be due to the wiper motor or something else? (presuming the Impala also only has one motor for both wipers).
+koolio90x You may want to check the wiper arm that isn't working to see if the inside of the arm is stripped that goes onto the post. If you remove the wiper arm, and turn the wipers on, see if the stud turns. If it does, the arm is probable bad. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com

There was no mention of the lineup tool in the items needed section. Is there something else that will work?
Great video. Thank you! Is this the same process for the 2004 Chevy Cavalier?

What other parts did you replace besides the motor ? In your video you can see a new set up getting installed ? Why was those parts replace ?
+jonathanschmidt417 The part replaced was the wiper transmission linkage.
Thank You . This Video Helped me Out. Got it Done

Is this the same process for 07 chevy impala
+Hugo Roman The installation for the vehicle will be incredibly similar to the one shown here.
Great video but I have another issue, my wipers move and I can see the 13mm bolt moving but the passenger side stops and just the bolt moves is there a way to adjust it? Thanks
Sounds like the arm is stripped , but that's without seeing it.

Same process for 2002 olds intrigue. I was wondering if you could explain running the motor before installing the transmission?
+Aaron Loomis You need to run the motor in order for it to line up properly with the brass colored piece in the video. Any other viewers interested in purchasing this linkage please click the link: www.1aauto.com/windshield-wiper-motor/i/1awwm00023?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&BTQdl_YeGE
I am also confused by the order. Are you supposed to install the (crank?) arm after the transmission assembly is back in the car?
Is this what I need to do if the wipers only work on high? Or is it a fuse or something like that?
+Shay Dog Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, we would not be able to diagnose an issue for you, but a local mechanic would be able to help you out. Thanks!
Mine only worked on high, but then stopped working altogether. I'm replacing the motor now, since it appears fairly easy, and I have a spare car with a free motor at my disposal.
I have to add - mine did work on high only, but not reliably. They would always take 5-10 minutes until the vehicle warmed up.
What if the windshield wipers are stop in the up position once the wipers are switched off. ? 2002 chevy impala
Did you ever figure out a solution to this? Having the same problem right now
how to replace fuel filter of this monte carlo? and how to lubricate the chassis on it?
Same as Malibu?

will this work for a 99 lumina ltz 3.8?
is there only one motor for two wipers?

Thanks. Will check and let you know what happens.
i did that and my drivers side goes off the windshield..
mine gets stuck in middle of windshield on intermittent, that top piece cant be right
Did you ever figure this issue out? Currently in the same situation
I dont get how you just drop it back in there...
This video is some BS. It’s not taking me less than a minute to get these wipers off. The angle is tight and you don’t have that much play room
