    Some teachers say that the only way to master English is by just listening. Thiago teaches us the real way to master the language, rejecting the notion that simply listening will magically make us fluent

    People get surprised when I say that I've reached the advanced level thanks to South Park, Big Bang Theory and Dexter :) This really works! And you know, somehow this helped improve not only listening skills, but speaking skills too! I didn't expect that because I wasn't really repeating anything or talking to myself. And this is a great way of being kind of surrounded by native speakers as you said :) Thanks for the tips regarding the active approach, this is awesome!

    You're great Thiago! Too many years ago I saw Friend's series in Spanish and now I'm watching it in English without subtitles but I'm doing it for fun and learning 2 or 3 episodes every single day. Right now I'm going to try to do your method for only 10 or 15 minutes just to learn!!I think it is better than mine 😂. Appreciate that keep going Thiago

      Keep going cause I know how hard it is to learn a new language.
      Hope you don't mind, but I'd like to help you out by pointing some mistakes that you made.
      "❌to say for you❌" x "✅to say to you✅" - when you're saying something you say it TO someone.
      "❌you are help me❌" x "✅you are helping me✅" - you have to use the present perfect continuous when you're talking about something that is still happening.
      "❌I'm not fluet still❌" x "✅I'm not fluent yet / I'm still not fluent✅" - it's not grammatically correct to use STILL at the end of a sentence like this.
      "❌listening music❌" x "✅listening to music✅" - when you're listening you listen to something, in this case, you should say "listen to music".
      "❌It make me happy❌" x "✅It/that makes me happy✅" - when the subject of a sentence is "it, she, he, this or that" you have to use the main verb of that sentence in the third-person singular form.
      That's all, my friend. Have a good day and never give up on achieving the fluency.

    Hi Thiago, I'm very happy to see how your channel is growing. I'm looking forward to when it reaches 100k subscribers; I'll celebrate it. I started my journey to become fluent in English when I was 43 years old. Now, I'm 45, and I have improved my English skills by listening to you and following your advice since I came across your videos on the RealLife English channel. I still have a lot to improve, but I've reached an English level that allows me to be an English user, and you are part of that achievement. Thank you, Thiago.

    You are right. Iam also very lazy when i want to watch movies and series. Although, I will force myself in future because i noticed how much i improved my listening skills last few months (listen to music, podcasts etc..). Listening is the most important part in english. If you can understand what other ppl ask you, you will find a way how to reply even with lower english level. But if you cant understand, vocabulary means almost nothing. Iam currently a half of B1 level (next year i will be B1 ) and iam really satisfied with my progress. I ve learned actively english since last year and yes, consistency is a key for everything in a life. You wont see results at the beginning but after few months definitely. I still struggle when i want to understand native ppl (i can understand you everything), but before, i couldnt understand anything, now i can understand 40-50%. I started to feel "native english" atlhough, its still a big way in front of me. But anyway, i can easy understand non native speakers worldwide , even who are B2 or C1 level and its the most important thing. Other things will come with proces :D .

    Hi, Mr Thiago. Thank you for creating useful videos. I think it would be better if you turned off subtitles below the video because it is interrupting to watch freely. I can understand without subtitles; if anyone needs them, they can easily be turned on by the UA-cam feature, and I think listening without subtitles would be more useful to other learners to adapt their ears to English tune.

The experiment was about training athletes like boxers, footballers, etc. I think it also applies to English. Similar to what you mentioned.

    Great video Thiago!
    Your way to learn English from movies and TV series is very similar to the method of A.J Hoge from UA-cam. He released about a decade ago a series of video where he talks about how to learn English without boring studying, grammar books etc. The series is called "Effortless English".. In on of those videos he shares a similar method of learning English from movie/TV series clips, but it's a bit more elaborate.
    In his method, we take short clip like 3-4 minutes and we deeply learn from it for 6-7 days based on the same clip :) Beginning from watching a clip in our first language, ending with shadowing without English subtitles. I found his method about 5 years ago and I can honestly say that it very works, but we need to be patient. Learning from movies and TV series is for me the most convenient and fun way to learn English. It takes only about 15-20 minutes a day of learning based on his method - the time depends on the level difficulty of the clip you choose.

    • @teacher.thiagoalencar
      @teacher.thiagoalencar  3 місяці тому +1

      Nice, thanks for sharing that. Based on what you're telling me, what I like about his method is this idea of just focusing on one clip for around a week. Working with the same piece of content over and over is really powerful! And I also liked what you said about having to be patient. That's exactly it. It's about intentional, deliberate work while being patient to wait for the results to come over time. Again, thanks for sharing!

    Hello Thiago, greetings from Mexico.
    Thank you for teaching us a lot, this channel is really of great help for people who want to speak English. Speaking of this super method, how can I retain and remember the words I learn in my study scenes?
    My problem is that at that moment I feel like I can remember those words but then I forget them.
    What should I do with the words I study in each scene each week and try not to forget them?

    • @teacher.thiagoalencar
      @teacher.thiagoalencar  3 місяці тому +1

      I recommend using a spaced repetition software like Anki. You can create your own flashcards with definitions with it. Then, you can review those words from time to time until you internalize them. Another alternative is simply creating sentences with the words you're trying to internalize. Remember: If you don't use it, you lose it!
