    I found your channel few days ago, probably because Im constantly searching for some information about how to learn English. Im especially interested in developing my skills of communication. Just like you said, i want to get out off my comfort zone and start to talk a lot. I set my goal to give maximum effort to do this, and we will see how its gonna end after one year. Why im typing it? Because you've opened my eyes on so many things! and im not talking only about this episode. Among many channels i tried to listen, your channel gives me most practical tips i can use in my journey. I appreciate that, and wish you the best. Maybe someday we can talk to each other.

    Thank you, teacher Thiago! Your video came at the right time and really hit the nail on the head about what I am struggling with! 👍However, when talking about the ideas of stopping translating in the head, I am more curious about how interpreters, who have to translate a language to another in real-time, manage with it.

    • @teacher.thiagoalencar

    I directly started thinking in english without translating in my head but the problem is that i can't think as clearly as i could think in my native language, sometimes while thinking in english i mostly miss and fail to think of the most important part of my thoughts in english but when i try to repeat thinking of the same thought in my language, i find out that this is the main information that i had been struggling to express by thinking in english........
    So i'd like to ask ,How can i improve this without being dependent on translation ?

    Thiago tenho uma dúvida que não consigo encontrar a resposta: qual a diferença de willing e feel like. No sentido de ter disposição ou vontade, ambas são intercambiáveis? Ótimo conteúdo sou seu fan.

    • @conta7619
      @conta7619 5 місяців тому +1

      Bom, o "willing" é um adjetivo, exemplo: he is willing to help me (ele está *disposto* a me ajudar);
      já o feel like deve ser usado como verbo, exemplo:
      I feel like eating an apple (não coloco um tradução aqui pq em português a gente acaba falando "estou com vontade" e isso pode causar uma confusão por causa do "to be" 😂);
      Em fim, pense que o feel like poderia ser um "want to".

    Hi Thiago, thank you for excellent video, I was wondering about translation for B2 level, I use Cambridge dictionary with english Spanish option, for me its easier to rear de Spanish meaning instead to try to understand the meaning reading the definition. An extra help. what do you think?

    • @teacher.thiagoalencar
      @teacher.thiagoalencar  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey, there! If you are already at B2 level, I would recommend using the English-English dictionary. Reading the definition in English will force you to start thinking more in English. At this level, I would recommend using translation only as a last resort.

    • @kosmicgame

      @@teacher.thiagoalencar thank you, a good resource is asking to chatgpt about the meaning of the word in the phrase, all in English, and the last resource translation, xD. Like you said in your video I always try to verify translating, but I'm gonna avoid it.

  • @hcm9999

    It is not possible to think in the target language, at least not for beginners.
    Beginners need to think first in their native language and then translate word for word into the target language. That is because beginners have no other choice.
    Beginners will first learn individual, isolated words. Eventually they will learn sentences and expressions, but that happens much later.
    So beginners have no other choice other than direct or literal translation.
    To ask beginners to think directly in the target language is unreasonable.
