Until you hear Spamton's laughing, you'd think that the boss fight was against Bowser. But since you are controlling Spamton, Bowser is actually fighting a boss fight against you.

Basicaly what they mean is SPAMTON is the boss, and Bowser has to fight Spamton
So I got this copy of Super Mario 64 at a garage sale. I opened it up to give it a good clean, and I noticed that the metal shielding was tampered with. I removed it and the ROM chip was vastly different from the normal on. It' pretty much had the same details as a Real ROM, but there was a bit of extra lettering stampped onto it. It said something like, "N0R8D1997". Must be like, a custom update?
I booted it up and I didn't notice any huge changes, that is until I went to Peach's Secret slide, and it's Not There. The door opens up to a room with a Telelphone, Then this music started playing, and the floor drops and suddenly this Puppet guy called "Spamton" drops from the ceiling asking me "WHERE THE [[$4.99]] IS HE."
Spooky stuff but the music slaps atleast.
Did you fight this puppet guy? Or did it not allow you to?

Spamton proceeds to BLJ into the final boss
fight with Bowser
I love how it starts off playing the original Bowser theme, only for it to suddenly be interrupted by Spamton's laughter, as it turns into BIG SHOT. It really sounds like YOU'RE the final boss. Bowser is hearing Spamton's boss music, as if he's the one who's in danger. Not only is it completely in character, but it's legitmately badass for Spamton. Couple that with the fact that Spamton basically takes over Bowser's stage as his own, and it shows you who's actually in control. It gives you the feeling that Spamton is a much greater threat to the Mushroom Kingdom than Bowser ever could be. Like if Bowser just dug his own grave by messing with Spamton, and now he must lie in it.
The terrifying thing is, that by forcefully inserting himself into the game's story and replacing Mario (something that is similar to what he does in Deltarune), there's basicially nobody who can stop him. Spamton already replaced Mario, Luigi is nowhere to be seen since this is Super Mario 64, Spamton already beat Bowser, and Peach is helpless to do anything. So Spamton is basically free to take the Mushroom Kingdom for himself.

Spamton isn't actually all that bad though, and I don't see how you could think he's worse than Bowser. In Deltarune, he only ever pulls villain plays out of desperation, when he thinks he has no other option. Cruelty for cruelty's own sake isn't Spamton's MO, there's no reason for him to want to hurt Peach. It seemed as though he just came into the game because he wanted to "be the hero" for real for once, and he got that. Heck; the mod's ending graphic even shows Spamton happily exiting the game (along with a confused, but unharmed, Mario and Peach).
@@WaspCameraInSpringfield See the Snowgrave Route. In that route, he gleefully sells Kris a torture device which he knows Kris will use to manipulate Noelle to commit mass murder in the city. Why does he do this? For no other reason than to gain fame and power. He literally admits to this by saying in his fight 'I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN YOU WOULD HAVE USED MY [Ring] FOR [Evil]... OH, [Right]. THAT'S WHY I SOLD IT TO YOU'
This line alone shows that Spamton isn't just the type of villain who thinks he's legitmately in the right or anything, but instead the type of villain who knows he's in the wrong, but he just doesn't care. He even goes as far as to mock Berdly, who is already dead at this point, by calling him [Frozen Chicken], and mocking Noelle who had already gone through a sickening amount of trauma a 'hochi mama'. He even takes a sadistic, sick pleasure in bringing Kris to their knees by the end of the fight, as they are helpless to stop him.
But wait, it gets even worse. There's also dialogue which implies that Spamton had wanted this to happen from the very start. This wasn't just some spur of the moment decision, oh no. He wanted all of it to happen from the get-go. Defeating Spamton with violence on the regular route gives you the dialogue 'YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE ALL THAT EARLIER! AND BEEN THE FIRST TO OWN MY [Commemorative Ring]'
But wait, there's more! The recent Spamton Sweepstakes event gives us even more insight to Spamton's twisted perspective on the world. On the page which has the address 'damn_you_tenna', Spamton speaks the lines 'EVERYONE IS GOING TO PAY [5 easy payments of $9.99] UNTIL THEY'RE ALL IN THE [Disposal Area] BEGGING FOR MY [$#&*]!!!'
What does that mean? Spamton is essentially saying that he's going to make everyone suffer for what happened to him, even though it's not really their fault. This implies that taking over the Queen's Mansion was only the beginning for Spamton, and that he was planning to harm everyone in the Cyber World until Kris stopped him. Bowser has never even gotten near that level of villainy.
Now, in terms of the mod itself, I do have to admit, I completely missed that end graphic. I assumed that Spamton replaced Mario's data with his own, but that seems to not be the case. But I do say, with all of the evidence above, it's pretty damn out of character for Spamton to do a legitmately good act without gaining anything from it. Hell, even with Spamton Sweepstakes, there's dialogue where Spamton admits that he only ran the event because he thought he was getting money from it, and then he was outraged that he wasn't getting paid anything from it. Spamton is inheretly a very selfish character, and that's a trait that's very consistent with him. It's something that makes him stand out from the other morally good characters in the series.
@@imnightmare101 I'm amazed by how many people manage to miss the entire point of Snowgrave being that the Player is the villain.
The Thorn Ring in and of itself isn't completely horrible. It's painful to wear, but Spamton makes it apparent that that's the trade-off for the power boost it gives. If someone accepted the pain and wore it willingly, it would be fine. Of course, what ends up happening is that Noelle is forced to wear it, which sucks, but that's not Spamton's fault. Kris does that (or more specifically, the Player forces Kris to force Noelle to wear it). Noelle being tortured wasn't Spamton's intent (how would that benefit him, anyway?), all he wanted was a distraction so he could attain NEO, and attain [[Freedom]].
Keep in mind that Snowgrave!Kris (due to the Player) being mas-murder-y doesn't really become apparent until after they gain the Thorn Ring. Spamton probably just figured he was giving a weapon to a like-minded individual to get Queen out of the way.
The conception of Spamton as pure evil also doesn't hold up due to the more noble traits we see from him in the Normal route. After he's beaten as Spamton NEO, he admits defeat, sincerely wishes Kris and the party luck on their journey, and turns into an item to help them. A true psychopath would've just gone down wailing with spite.
Edit: Also, Spamton isn't "mocking" Noelle by calling her a [Hochi Mama], lmfao, that's just how he talks.
@@imnightmare101 Also, if you're serious about comparing Bowser and Spamton as villains: in Mario Galaxy alone, Bowser imperils the existence of the entire universe, is seen opening fire on harmless Toads with his armada while crashing the ceremony in the intro (don't tell me it didn't actually hurt any of them, since it's seen knocking over buildings; that's a bunch of homes destroyed at the very least, probably several people crushed under rubble), stole Power Stars from Rosalina's Observatory that left it powerless and stranded in space (uncaring as to whether or not this results in Rosalina starving or freezing to death), and kidnapped a number of Lumas (whom Rosalina sees as her children) to use as a power source, siphoning their life-force away to power his machines. Oh yes, and this is on top of kidnapping Princess Peach to try and force her to marry him, as usual.
And like always, he doesn't do this because he has a tragic backstory, or really, any sort of extenuating circumstances which have embittered him to the Mushroom Kingdom, as Spamton's had with Cyber City. He's doing it because he's a power-hungry asshole.
Even if you think Spamton's a piece of shit, you're out of your mind if you think he's a worse person than Bowser.

Almost no remix or cover of Big Shot has ever really had the same magic the original did for me, no matter how awesome they were, but by god one this does it

I've been working hard to do it, but I'm not gonna release it until It's done.
I have been on the hunt for such remixes since Deltarune first came out. Believe me, I get it. So here are some suggestions:
-Big Shot, But it Sounds Like a Chance To Be a BIG SHOT! (by Roomtone)
This one is just magnificent. It captures everything I like about the fight, both in intensity and in goofiness.
-Big Shot (by Squimpus Mcgrimpus)
This one is really fast paced and slightly unnerving. Of course, this guy did the original FNaF VHS tapes, so go figure.
-Shy Sings BIG SHOT (by Shy Siesta)
It doesn't really have the same vibe the Spamton fight gives me, but I do really like it. It's good.
-Big Shot | Deltarune Mega Mashup (by Glasses Freek Jr.)
This one mixes like fifteen genres of music in one and it's super good. It puts it's own spin on the song, and I really like it.

I'd just imagine that if that music was actually there thanks to the personalization AI, it means Super Mario 64 could predict the future, and no one would have noticed it.

I think they meant if the personalisation AI put this in the game at the time where the beta copies with the AI were supposedly being made. So long before Deltarune and even Undertale were even an idea in Toby's mind.

The amount of love and coverage this mod has got, either by making animations, gameplay or even in Juno's case, a song, is honestly kinda heartwarming. It really is a [Big Shot] move.
What I love about the Everdrive 64, is the fact people can play this mod on their own N64. Having a character that's from 20+ years into the future in a game that's from 1996 feels like our little businessman "spammed" his way into the past to prove how much of a [BIG SHOT] he is.

@@Adriethyl ive always found it fascinating how fast technology has evolved. in 1996, you had a decently sized brick of wires and circuitry that put out some of the first 3d game graphics in the world, but only one game at a time, stored on mere megabytes of data. it was a technological breakthrough for the time. but now, we have tiny flat, and thin supercomputers on us at all times that can store gigabytes of information, and can run every single one of these games, plus the portable games, and even the top games of the time from the other competitors, all without having to make more room. who knows what we might do next.
Absolutely amazing! What DAW did you make this in? If it were possible, I'd *love* to dissect that world revolving motif from 1:09. it sounds absolutely heavenly with this soundfont and I'm sure there's something deeper here to use regularly in composing SM64 works.

Considering spamton has 3.5k hp in the game and bowser in bowser's inside story was fighting endgame bosses that had 1-2k hp. I'd say spamton would've been a though boss for bowser.

Whisker & Johnny and Big Swell.
Toby definitely got inspiration for big shot from metallic madness from sonic cd, compare it side by side and the similarity is uncanny
@@viniless5201 With how the Rush series is a mix of samples and inspired-by-samples, it also is appopriate that Mario 64 was on the DS.
The original song takes *heavy* inspiration from _Metal Scratchin'_ and _Bomber Barbara_ from Sonic Rush.
