It was not written by Dougie Maclean.
This is not "the Gael", it is La Folía or Follia. It is one of the oldest European musical themes on record. It is many hundreds of years old and many hundreds of composers (eg, & randomly chosen ... Vivaldi, Corelli, Handel, Bach, Liszt, Beethoven etc, etc), over the centuries, have used it in their music. It has its own website (which I can't find at the moment) and is here on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folia. Dougie MacLean used it and called it "The Gael". Somehow he claimed, or allowed it to be claimed, that he composed it. He did not.
