How to Replace Grips on your Bicycle

I used to use hairspray until someone invented bolt on grips. Racers used to wire on grips to keep them tight.

How about grips for a 1969 Schwinn midget.

If you leave it out in the sun on a hot day they should be pliable enough for the screwdriver and blow gun technique. Another way is to use the blow gun, press it firmly against the end of the grip, aiming straight in to the hole, next wait for that thing to shoot off there like a rocket so careful where you’re aiming. Finally if you need to you can use an open end wrench that’s just wide enough to slide over the diameter of the handle bar, press it against the inside end of the grip then hit the wrench with a hammer.
